I’ve been blending a lot of Indian brand snuffs into my toasts and dark English snuffs. I enjoy these on their own, of course, but like to mix things up from time to time, for strength and change of flavor. I’m interested to hear your favorite blends.
6P Mysore Sandalwood and M&W Keen Scented 50:50 is my fav.
Mysore Sandalwood blends nicely with Rose of Sharrow (50:50).
Loved MG Madras + Irish No.22 (50:50).
Another good one - Dragon Madras + Tops Dry Scotch (50:50).
White snuff + fresh gwayi = turbo boost.
The Madras and Irish definitely sounds interesting. I have yet to try either.
50/50 Spanish Gem and Ambrosia makes a perfect consistency.
When my latest order arrives I’m doing a blend of 50/50 Ambrosia with USA Whiskey and Honey…
Aren’t Spanish Gem and Ambrosia suppose to be very similar? I’m currently waiting on a bulk delivery from Artisan. 500g Viking Dark, 200g Toque Natural Toast, 100g Otto Glacier and 2x20g Viking Brown.
If memory serves they have the same flavoring but Ambrosia has twice the amount of Spanish Gem on a different tobacco base.
Yes they are similar but Ambrosia is a more coarse and moist grind. Spanish Gem has a biscuity smell that i like alot but it is a fine grind. When mixed together they have a great manageable consistency and it’s possible to really load up the the nose. To me this blend has characteristics of JH Wilson Top Mill, with the hit smoothed out and made easier to sniff.
I have bulk Gold Label, Grand Cairo, Viking Brown coming so I may do mixes with these and oddballs like Root M or Old Paris.
I’m not a mixer of snuffs but anyone who remembers Professor Allen Phillips Griffith’s posts from Graeme’s old site will recall his oft-quoted and favourite snuff recipe which was a mixture of Sharrow’s Princes (80%) and Queens (20%). It became colloquially known as Griff’s Snuff. Some members expressed surprise that Griff’s Snuff was not manufactured on site by Sharrow in the same way that Dr. J R Justice (Morlaix and Bordeaux) was by Fribourg & Treyer, but perhaps Sharrow were unaware of this mixture or if they were aware, didn’t consider it commercially viable. Despite Allen’s enthusiasm, I didn’t care for it much myself.
Sharrow no longer manufacture their own Princes but Fribourg & Treyer Princes mixed with Tom Buck would doubtless suffice as a substitute should anyone wish to try out Griff’s Snuff.
Dragon Madras with Irish 22 works very well too.
Mixing Toque Champagne with Spanish Gem this morning.
Jip / Green Dragon 50:50.
Jip/ SG Silky dark
Simon from Simply snuff recommends M&W Jocks Choice / Jip as a top banana so I have some jocks choice I’m waiting on In the mail.
If you’re looking for a mentholated mixture to clear your nose I’ve found that 10g of Wilson’s Dynamite plus 15g NTSU Green (in other words 1 tin of each) works very well. The menthol is long-lasting and there’s plenty of Vitamin N. They’re both soft, moist and coarse-ground, so easy to take.
The only downside is that they make a mess of your hankie.
