Poschle

The first snuffs I had were Ozona Raspberry. Then President and Gletscher Prise. MrSnuff’s catalog and snuffhouse have opened my eyes. I was looking for a snuff other than Ozona Raspberry and basement_shaman, SnuffySnuff and hdsale offered some advice. Having Ozona and just having received some Samuel Gawith I had a friend put (while I stepped from the room) a bit of each in identical small plastic bags. the next morning with a clear nose I tried the first and the next morning the second. To my surprise I found the Samuel Gawith, despite the lack of menthol equal to the Ozona. When doing a cost comparison between Ozona and the 3 mentioned by “my advisors” (the WoS and McChrystals are on order) I found the Ozona to be tremendously overpriced as are the other 2 Poschles mentioned. And the Ozona tins occasionally would become deformed in my pocket making twisting a hassle. Given that Poschles is the largest snuff maker in the world with the largest distribution they must be making each flavor by the ton thereby making an excessive profit. No more Poschles for me.

PS- also had some toque menthol raspberry (forgot to mention) which was third in my test. I believe that another post had mentioned that Poschle had less nicotine than most. Another reason not to.

as you said mrsnuff catalogue opened your eyes. Poschl is the best seller because in my opinion buyers can reach poschl snuffs without going online.

In this sense Poschl is known as a beginners snuff but without this prejudice these snuffs should be recognized.

Snuff is inexpensive, Company are in business to make profits, The price of the snuff is not a reflection of it’s quality rather an overall cost of business. Steak and hamburger come from the same beast, I had hamburger that taste better then steak. Do I stop buying steak and just buy hamburger ,No I like all the cuts, And enjoy them for what they are. Your ability to purchase has influenced your choices. I am thrifty myself like linguist stated there are other sources

packaging on both fronts. The packages up the price and probably make the snuff seem more apealing.

I wouldn’t rule out Poschl in their entirety… They do have several good sub-brands and schmalzers… Poschl sudfrucht comes to mind

@hdsale…YES…I was amazed when I first tried sudfrucht… I love it… So soft in the nose and such a great aroma

I respect Pöschl for their pro-snuff lobbying, their snuffs not so much since I’m not a very great fan of menthol. Even here in germany there is Rumney’s Export Snuff available in many tobacco stores which imo. is a much better medicated alternative to most Pöschl snuff, at least for my taste. That’s not that their products are neccesarily bad, I like Cafe grado and Ozona raspberry for example.

no not bad. I find many poschl snuffs good for example i like ozona raspberry very much. But if i have several different brands i empty them before poschls.

I like the texture and consistency of the few Poschls I’ve tried, but the only ones I’ve tried were all menthol, and therefore inherently not to my preference.

I like poschles. I like their funding research. I can afford what I want within reason (just bought 2 sterling vintage snuff boxes), but don’t like being overcharged despite the having given up a 3 pack a day cig. habit and having hundreds a month in saved income. I like 25 gram and up containers. was about to order 20 ozona raspberry before my blind sniff test and reevaluated my buying. I like (and no longer use) dupont and dunhill lighters which are overpriced, but unique. sometimes you get what you pay for and most times not.

I love the Poschle shmalzer “Sweet Fruit”. I think its Suchtfried… can’t pronounce it though.

Südfrucht - translates as southern fruit (ie tropical).

I think its pronounced “sood frukt”, but please any German speaker correct my attempt to transliterate into English. :)>-
