This is part review and part question…plus a bit of history. About 3 years ago, I started snuffing. Mrs. Squinty, worried about exagerrated claims of danger to the nose, reacted a bit negatively to my snuffing. The snuffs all went into a couple tight cigar boxes and put in a cool, dry place until just a few days ago. Worried over the health of my lungs and still a nicotine addict, I went back to my snuff stash and found, happily a couple 5 gram tap boxes of Poschl Silverstone. This snuff is a coarsely-ground, medium moist snuff with a delightful orange essence, plus a couple other notes which are harder to identify. It stays in the nose nicely, the drip is minimal but tasty, and the aroma persists for hours. No exagerration; the scent stays in the nose for hours. I’ve searched online for this snuff but cannot find it. I’m wondering if it’s still being made. Of the orange scented snuffs I’ve tried, this is far and away the best. While Ozona’s Orange is very nice, it’s a bit drier and more finely powdered than the Silverstone. Haven’t tried any other oranges yet. My questions then, are twofold: 1. Is Poschl Silverstone still being made, and if so where might I buy it online? and 2. Does anyone have a recommendation for a more coarsely-ground, moist orange nasal snuff? Thanks in advance for all replies. Snuff it if you got it… at ease. Paul
For a slightly courser grind I would recommend SG Mandarin. It has a light touch of menthol with a wonderful mandarin orange scent; this is a frequent pinch for me. Not sure how it would compare to the Silverstone as I’ve never had the pleasure to try it.
silverstone I think is long dead.
I was afraid of that. This one was a real winner, to my tastes. Wonder what happened?
