I got one of the pc triple tech boxes a couple weeks ago and accidentally broke the spoon. Anyone have any ideas for a replacement? I hope my triple tech isnt permanently down graded to a double tech.
Cut down a pipe nail as ermtony has done, you will find it works better.
will it fit in the spoon hole?
Well ermtony;s did. But I don’t know if they are all a standard size. You will have to visit a local tobacconist.
Perhaps someone on here can shed some light on this?
Just did a search on spoons and someone else made one with copper wire. I have some laying around so I might give that a try and see what I can come up with. If im unsucessfull I’ll have to get a pipe nail. Thanks for the idea SnuffHead.
Your welcome… just done some checking, if you go for a pipe nail. The Brebbia (made in Italy) will fit.
E-Bay has tons of bone spoons.
Like Juxtaposer said, e-bay has them. I have even seen some in China that closely resemble the Triple Tech spoon in shape and apparent size. The only downside is I know from ordering several snuff bottles from China it can be hit or miss if the item matches the picture. You usually get what it is you order in the sense of it being a type of that item but in several instances they looked nothing like what I ordered
The tripletech spoons are indeed the bone spoons from china that you see on ebay. I have made some spoons out of copper wire. Just took a length of #12 solid wire, stripped bare, smashed the end flat, shaped to the desired size and shape bowl and even trimmed and finished with scissors and sandpaper. When done just snip to desired finished length. @josh- a tripletech without a spoon doesn’t sound very exciting. check your inbox for response to your message.
Thanks pat. I’ll try the wire while I wait for the new spoon. BTW keep up the great work on the boxes.
I was actually thinking about making a spoon for the Tripletech this afternoon. I’m not partial to the little bone spoon and have a couple that I’ve made for daily use – but none of them will fit in the box. When I get another made that’ll fit in the box I’ll look this thread up and leave a pic. It’s not hard to make a spoon out of copper wire. I’ve made a few out of brass rods too, though those can’t be hammered, they have to be filed and ground to shape.
Well I did get a couple of little brass spoons made for my Tripletech box, but lo, the batteries in the camera have gone belly up so it’ll be another day before I post pics. Went pretty smoothly though, and I’m pleased with the result.
Okay, got some pics. The first one is the two spoons I made; the smaller one was the first one and not exactly what I wanted. I wanted it to fit the quarter inch hole in the box more closely, so I made the second one out of 1/4" diameter rod and fitted it so it’d fit the hole just right. The second picture is what it looks like in the box. If anyone wants it, they can have the smaller spoon, first come first served of course. Just send me your address and I’ll mail it off to you. It fits in the box nicely but has kind of a small spoon due to the smaller rod I used.
The little spoon is spoken for.
nice spoons, how did you make them?
I have made a few out of wire, including one that I am attaching to my snuff mull I am making, one thing though, after hammering the copper end flat what is the best way to shape the end into a spoon, i.e. a small bowl?
@The Nose Knows- Trim the hammered out part with heavy duty scisors then bend the sides up with vice grips. If you have a dremel you can use the small stone wheels to shape and smooth the edges.
nice job on those spoons ddavelarson.
…
@ddavelarsen Awesome job on those spoons! I lack the equipment or skills to make such tools. If you ever decide to go into small business I would be interested!
oooo oooo I want one!
Okay, I’ll put you guys on the list for the next time!
Thanks!
That’d be sweet dave. Thanks man!
I’d love to have one of those spoons too
Cool, maybe I’ll make a run this weekend. I need some shop time. I’ll let you guys know if it comes true, I promise. I’ve been using mine all day!
I really want to order one of these boxes. How much did it cost shipped if you don’t mind me asking.
I got mine from snuffgear.com, its $32 without shipping. I also got some snuff when I ordered mine so I think your shipping should be less than the $12 I paid because there is no signature required for just a snuff box. edit: Its worth it btw. I really like mine. Not only is a nice looking box it works great.
Thanks Josh! I’ll be getting one day soon hopefully
I don’t think I wan’t a triple tech box. Thanks for making them though. I would encourage the making of hinged lid boxes. Good luck then!
Dave sent payment off to you today via paypal. Thanks again for the spoon. It works as good as it looks… and that is MMMMMMAAAAAARVELOUUUUUUUUSSS! Seriously, great craftmanship. Well worth it. Two thumbs up!
Hey, thanks @snuffnpuff! I’m glad you like it, I’m honored.
I would love to get my hands on one or two of these spoons. I have two triple tech boxes and while the bone spoons are alright, these look fantastic. Please put me on the list if you are going to move forward with them Dave.
@ddavelarsen I got my spoon! Thanks Dave this thing is PERFECT! Heaping spoon is the perfect dose size These spoons fit the PC3T’s PERFECTLY. Thanks man you did a great job! I will send your payment on PP tomorrow. Unless you’d like some snuff for trade. If you’d like to trade, send me a PM on here. If I don’t get one I’ll assume I should just do the PP. Thanks man I love this thing!
@transistor - Cool Rob, I’m glad it works for you! I probably have enough snuff for now unless you have excess SG Vanilla, in which case we’re best friends! How about it? @stuklu, I’m out of stock to make them from for now, I will order some and make another round soon. Thanks for your interest!
@josh and @thenoseknows - sorry I failed to answer your questions, I didn’t see them until just now. @josh, I ground them from 1/4" round stock on a 2" wheel on my belt grinder. I just spun the center in my fingers to grind like a lathe would cut, though I didn’t want to use a lathe to make these. I thought that would be too inorganic - too precise. I used a round diamond burr on my Dremel to carve out the spoons, then I just buffed them out. @thenoseknows, the way I made a bowl in the flattened end of copper wire was to round off the end of a punch and use that to forge the bowl in. I pounded the bowl end into a lead block with the punch to make it cup in. Then I trimmed it like josh suggested. I’m still using my first ever spoon, made from copper wire.
