I’m off on me 'olidays tomorrer. It used to take 10 minutes to pack, but now?! Blimey what snuffs am I going to take. Best take a pinch for inspiration…

I hear ya man snuffs on the road is a painful process when we love so many different kinds! Or a wonderful one however you want to look at it. I would say depending on where you’re going to bring your favorites obviously but your favorites you’re prepared to lose. ( I do lots of traveling to places and have left things pretty much everywhere I go ) I would pack them all in their original tins and then switch them over to unlabeled airtight jars at your destination. I’d definitely pack my snuff spoon too. Never used a snorter or bullet personally. I don’t know much about the types of snuff because I’m still new. However I love to keep around a menthol snuff chocolate snuff plain snuff or whatever your favorites are for mixing. Cover every base pretty much.

I would have a few toasts, maybe Olde English and HDT, Spanish Gem, Whisky and Honey USA and a couple of SPs, SP extra and Mature crumbled for starters. maybe menthol as well, Kailash does it for me… More than I though but hate to be without a selection!

What a dilemma! I’ve narrowed it down to 10. Four menthols; O&G, Medicated No 99 (think I’m getting a cold), Toque Blueberry Menthol (can’t leave a Toque behind), Ozona President (I took it last year). Two Bernard; Civette Extrafein (it’s new), Zwiefacher (I took it last year). A salty toast for the warm weather; Wos Irish Toast 22. SG Red Crest (it was in my nose earlier for inspiration). Viking Dark (for the kick and I like it!). Wos Best Dark because I like it, even through my nose takes on the appearance of a Badger’s rooting around in the damp earth.

Boy, you fellas really believe in all the luxury of home, don’t you? Or are, perhaps unmarried with no small children. Last time I traveled, and to Asia, mind, I brough a twenty five gram tin of Wilson’s Rose of Sharrow. Some of you guys, I think you’re pockets must be jangling with snuff tins when you walk down the street. Not condemning, of course, just sayin’.

Shortly after my (honorable) discharge from the military in '76, I took a two week backpacking trip in the Sierras, from Bishop to Lone Pine, and took six half ounce tins of Dr. Rumney’s thinking that would last. Epic Fail. Bring as much as you can carry or get through customs. Stuff happens.

I just went on a weekend fishing trip in the Atlantic taking wahoo off the coast of the Carolinas - I took a small bag of mini-tins - and took 4 on the boat, lol.

No issues with me, gentlemen. I clearly need to up my game. Here I’ve been all these years thinking I was odd because I’d carry two snuff boxes. Now I know that I’m odd because I only carry two snuff boxes.

I’m taking four snuffs camping tomorrow, Spanish gem, rose/ white elephant mix, schmalzler mix and coarse dark mix. They all fit in a little camera holder on the waist belt of my rucksack, nice and tidy and easy to reach. Happy holidays!
