Ozona Snuffy Weiss (Non-tobacco)

I don’t like the fact that my first review will be a negative one, but here it is. A couple caveats are in order. I am first of all, a relative newcomer to snuff. I had a brief flirtation with snuff around 5 years ago, gave it up because of spousal complaints, and only recently returned to insuflation. Secondly, I have a smoker’s palate; one of the reasons I’m returning to snuffing is that while addicted to nicotine, I no longer want to smoke. While electronic cigarettes did it for me for awhile, the expense and maintenance of batteries etc. put me off the high-tech smoking alternative. That being said, I know what I like. Your tastes of course, may vary from mine. To reduce my nicotine dependency, I ordered a couple non-tobacco powders from SnuffGear (actually, the only two actual sniffing products Tom sells). Got the Bernard Naseweis and the Poschl Snuffy. I liked the former, but the Sniffy is a loser. First off, Poschl chose to package Snuffy in the round container with the side hole. If you remember CokeSnuff from the '70’s, it’s the same damn container. Remember, this is essentially sugar with aromas added. The hole in the side of the container does not dispense the sugar well; even in a dehumidified area, the powder had a tendency to clump or worse, scatter. I hate this type of dispenser and wish Poschl had chosen another route. Secondly, after a few good sniffs, I wondered where the mint/menthol was. The powder is so mildly scented that it was nearly useless. Yes, I am aware of common complaints about non-tobacco white snuffs, that they clog the nostrils, that they’re pointless etc. All that in mind, I knew what I was getting into. Still, I was not prepared for the mediocre quality from Poschl. Perhaps I got a stale tin? I think not. I’ll review the Bernard Naseweis elsewhere, but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go for the Bernard product. However, after my brief flirtation with non-tobacco snuffs, I think I’m done with them. I’ll go back to good tobvaccos, herbals and the like. It is unfortunate that my first order from MS consists almost completely of non-tobacco snuffs, with the exception of a couple tins of Red Bull. Ah well, I have shelf space. And I understand that at least one of the products I ordered comes in cool little snuff bottles instead of tins…

I have had had ‘off’ tins of Snuffy Weiss. I think it loses its flavour quickly even when the seal is not broken. However, rather than toss it, you can refresh it by adding a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil (the kind you use for inhaling with colds, cost about 75p from Superdrug etc). Shake and leave overnight to soak in.
