Hey all, This is my first post. I’m new to snuff, and love it. I was interested in purchasing a snuff box but don’t know where to look. I was thinking of a hinged ox bone box. Any suggestions? Thanks -Curtsey

oh if i only knew! i wouldn’t mind a slightly larger box, only because i enjoy letting friends try my snuff and im always offering. whats the normal dimensions of a snuff box? what do most people use?

I’d guess 3in by 2in, or similar.

Snuff store has some very nice Ox Bone snuff boxes and bone spoons. Look on the left and just click snuff store for all your snufffffffing needs.

2in by 1 in is better. The inner dimensions of the Pat Collins boxes are about that. Ideally one should hold only a one or two day supply.

I have a small silver snuff box that’s about 1.5 by 1 inches; I keep the deskside schmaltzer in it and it works nicely each evening. I’d love to have a nice bone box, now I have something else to wish for! I’ve found that my silver box does not do well in my pocket; is there a snuff box one can carry? Besides a smash box I mean? Thanks.

I use my Pat Collins boxes for day to day use. I carry them in my pockets with no trouble. Someday I’d like a nice pocket silver one for more formal attire, and perhaps a less formal and more beat up silver one for an alternate daily box. I have schmalzler in schmalzler bottles. There’s usually room to put one of those in my pocket too.

Are there any Pat Collins with a flip lid? im sure that would be a hard piece to craft, however the idea of flipping open a box seems so awsome

One made by our own forum member Patrick Collins aka onefortheroad. There are a bunch for sale at Nicotine Rush last I looked and probably some other places too. They all have slide tops. Flip lids are cool…try ebay? Those French ones are pretty nice. Again, that’s for wood.
