Overdoing it...

Having been snuff shopping during the day, and with my good lady wife out at her ‘stitch and bitch’ meetup with pals, yesterday evening I had the house to myself and a stash of new snuffs to enjoy… So, I sat down with eight or so different snuffs, and worked my way through six of them in the space of just under an hour (We’re talking generous pinches and piles here, I’m not one for tiny little samples) and thoroughly enjoyed every one. However, by the time I polished off my sixth nosefull, I started to feel rather odd, queasy and dizzy, not to mention somewhat confused. This has never happened to me before using snuff, have I overdone the intake? The only sensation I can compare it to is my youthful follies with “jazz cigarettes” (you know what I mean!), wherein one smokes a joint in a hurry, not feeling any noticeable effect, then *bang* it hits like a freight train and it’s off to bed/psychiatric ward with a bucket-just in case-and a kindly girlfriend to hold your hand and reassure you that there are no evil spirits who want to gobble up your soul. What am I doing wrong? Too much nic?

sounds like it.

Ummm yeah that means you have Nic Overdose. IT IS possible to over do it. You’ll feel hot and sweaty and nauseous. Be careful or you’ll get sick!

Hot, sweaty, nauseous…that covers it. I’ll have to take it a bit easier next time I’m alone with nothing to do but graze on snuff! I actually woke up this morning not wanting snuff whatsoever-quite the opposite. However, after a midday pinch of Gold Label normal service was resumed!

I’ve never been able to over do it with snuff , maybe because smokes have gotten me used a lot more nic. Snus on the other hand …

Thats a definite case of too much nicotine. Were you a smoker before? If you weren’t then you are doing the equivalent of chain smoking with no nicotine tolerance. My personal opinion is don’t use tobacco products unless you are an existing addict, but if you are detrmined to use snuff go easy with it. Jack - me too. I couldn’t overdose if I tried. I wish I could actually so that I could ‘get’ these supposed high nicotine snuffs.

@Snuffster, I’m a former smoker, but prior to taking up snuff hadn’t smoked for several years other than the occasion cigar on a special occasion, and a bowl here and there from one of my many pipes. I stopped smoking because I’m a vocalist and it had a negative effect on my voice, but snuff allows me to enjoy tobacco in a much safer way, which also has no impact whatsoever on my singing voice. It also satiates that yearning I used to get whenever anyone walked past me smoking a pipe or cigar, the classic “IwantitIwantitIwantit!” Feeling. I wouldn’t say particularly that I have no nic tolerance, just lower tolerance than that of a regular smoker. I’ve been pacing myself a bit more in the last couple of days, no such repeat of the problem. I think it may have been down to me honking up a banister of L260 that evening, that stuff always seem to be punchy as hell in the nic department to me.

You are lucky to be able to attain that state. If I try to do that my nose will rebel and stuff up like a tennis ball in a garden hose.
