Gents, alternatives pinching methods please.following a stupid stupid accident I have my thumb in bandages.Never mind the inability to button shirts and do zips and laces…how can I get my dose of vitamin N? I have tried going lefty and lets just say I am not a ambidextrous. :((
You have to teach your left hand to do it. I had to teach my left hand to use a jeweler’s torch–took a couple of days is all. Use a mirror to find your nose. And my sympathy re your injury, sucks when you do something stupid, then again, all accidents are stupid so you are in good company.
I’m fortunate in that regard. I am almost ambidextrous. I can’t write with my left hand but that’s about it. Oh…can’t golf left handed…can’t golf right handed either so it evens out
:))
But if you left hand doesn’t cooperate use a spoon or tap onto the back of your hand.
if I had to learn to roll cigs with one hand you can pinch with the off hand. I’am better now but for a short time I had to do that. So.
RYO with one hand? You, sir, are amazing. But anyway, back of the hand or your (other) thumbnail is you best bet.
back of the hand … i second that. in the anatomical “snuff box” …
Thanks for the help Chaps, trying a snuff tube, suits some snuffs but not all, having to sniff very gently,I had an eye watering moment with Toque Absinthe in the office…Jeez Louise, never realised a tube made that much difference.
it’s easy if you have to impossible if you don’t.
@Wingcamnut Make a fist, now lay your thumb tip over your index finger knuckle, now look down at all the creases in what would be the middle of your fist, above your thumb knuckles, directly below your index finger first knuckle… fill that creases area with snuff and pull it off from there. The odd shapes of the indented creases will prevent too much suction but will allow you to take a large hit. It’ll also prevent snuff from falling off your hand. I call this technique the Gawith Apricot commercialtechnique. 0:35 in the clip. Works great for all kinds of snuffs except for maybe scotches or toasts.
Either backhand or boxcar (on your thumbnail.).
@Thorgrimnr lol I love that little video. Thanks for the link i am going to send that one around.
I’ve been using the boxcar more than ever lately and it really does the trick. Gets it in my nose not around it and not in my lungs and tnroat. @Howdydave thanks for continually bringing up that method.
@howdydave Is there a thumb flick involved with the boxcar method?
