OT: Whole Tobacco Leaf

I will be making a purchase from Leafonly.com very shortly, and i was wondering if anyone had a discount code for them? I can only find a 5% off, after many google searches, and while thats well and good, more savings means more tobacco.

Sorry, I buy all my leaf here:http://fairtradetobacco.com/forum.php 25% off for members now, and membership is free. The Virginia Bright leaf is out of this world, I love it.

One of the best forums for growing. Ask about the dark air cured that’s three years in the barn.

I’ll second Fair Trade Tobacco. There is also a guy on Amazon that has some good whole leaf tobacco. Leaf Only looks good too.

Yeah, i’ve purchased from them before, w/good results. I could probably get more bang for my buck elsewhere, but i prefer a business-is-business site when making internet purchases, PS if anyone has interest, “MNC” and “LO5” are both 5% off codes i have found.

Today, from leafonly, three days to my door:

Standard Leaf Shredder- i discovered from my last venture w/whole leaf that this is essential, i could never get it cut small enough to smoke correct.

1/4lb - Burley
1/4lb- Aged Burley
1/4lb- Semi-Oriental 456- i’am gonna play w/blends and see whats good.
1/4lb- Yenidje Oriental

2LB - American Virginia Flue Cured-
1LB - Canadian Virginia Flue Cured- for the backbone of my smokes

I know, cigarettes are of the Devil and the worst thing you can do to yourself. That being said, i still choose to smoke- sanity takes presidents over health in my hierarchy.

Although, i feel whole leaf is worlds away from a “pack-o-smokes”; there are no addtives or chemicals(unless used to grow in the fields), no processed stem, no floor sweepings w/added nicotine pressed into leafs, and no soul less big tobacco behind it.

Whole leaf smoke is nothing like smoke from a taylor made cigarette, it tastes like tobacco, and dosent give me that dirty, heavy feeling. I seem to smoke a lot less w/it as well, i can feel the nicotine in my system for quite sometime.

So, in short, don’t smoke. If you do smoke, smoke something proper.

You’ve got some good smokes there. Pressing, stoving, steaming, and casings are all things you can consider while aging your leaf. Don’t forget to try making snuff out of the stems. Stem pith makes really nice light and fluffy snuff. Have fun. Roll a couple cigars while you are at it. It’s really easy to do and there are a lot of videos on You tube to learn.

@Whalen

I did use your nick as referrer just know the get into this side. I was not sure if you use the same nick over there.

yes, feel free!

Hi and greetings from the UK. Yes I am a smoker, and one that is refusing to take any cr** from the anti-smoking Nazis or the mindless idiotic governemnt. I am also a whole leaf tobacco fan and get my tobacco from leafonly and wholeleaf. I dont think I will ever go back to the goverment sponsored poisonous cancer sticks. I have made a website and am also an affiliate for leafonly. My website is: http://smokerssanctuary.site90.com I have only just put it online and will be adding things to it constantly, including opening a shop as well to sell interesting toys for my fellow smokers. If you care to visit you will see a wealth of info relating to nicotine etc…And you will actually be amazed at what I have found out as well. Come on over. All smokers are welcome

I have just blended some burley with dark fire cured tobacco and put them in cig tubes…wow what a kick! But its still not harsh like the shop bought products. Make you think what is really in those things doesnt it.

I would think the combination of dark air and burley would be a awfully strong smoke! I blend 75% Golden Virginia with all my RYO batches.

Well, i made my own flake. I was going through my closet about a week ago, and came across my forgotten box of whole leaf. I had about 1lb of Sweet Brightleaf Vir, 1/4lb of aged burley, and 1/4lb of Semi-oriental. I make-shifted a press out of cut 2x4, layered the leafs- about 3layers ot the Virgina to one each of the others, pressed it in my vise, screwed the top board in, and let it press sit for about 5 days. The result was more than satisfactory, i now have a flake weighing about 6oz, about as big a my hand, maybe an inch in thickness. It is smooth, cool buring, tastey, and strong. It reminds me slightly of GL Pease triple play(dare i say better?) If i can reproduce this result, i may put cellering brand tobacco on hold, and make a considerable amount of my own.

I press my own tobacco. I have had good reviews at pipes magazine. The tobacco I have been getting is not aged and although it is pretty good, it is not great. Finally, I spent the big bucks and bought some aged product that I will be pressing in the next week. I am still waiting on the leaf to get here. It was 3x as expensive as the leaf from the sites mentioned, but I expect it to be awesome. I think it to be as good as what you buy from the big boys when I’m done with it… We will see. I use all the stem for snuff and Snus. It is really a lot of fun!!!

I was amazed at my results. It is quite a bit of fun. Making it yourself, realitively easily, with a quailty product produced, astounds me.

That sounds like a cool idea. I wouldn’t mind trying some leaf tobacco. Even just making a mixture sounds like fun

With the current state of affairs regarding regulations to our precious plant, i think whole leaf will be our last bastion of hope- sooner than later. The way i see it, right now it is an untaxed agricultual product, and, big tobacco with its limitless resources and $, want to keep it that way. Reclasifying it other wise would severly cut their bottom line. I have made cigarettes, chew, snuff, and now pipe and pipe plug. Ten pounds of various leaf has lasted me the better part of a year with a 6-10 a day for me, and a pack a day for my wife(on and off, she seems to quit every couple weeks); as well as fueling my little experiments. I’am not ready to quit buying ready made products, excluding pre-packaged-posion cigs(that i have not done more than twice this year), but when the shite hits the fan and these are no longer avalible or affortable, i want to have the knowledge of processing and producing well in hand. Plus, its a lot of fun.

Ive purchased from LeafOnly.com quite a few times, always with great results, their quality is good and in my opinion, their prices are fair.
