I’m curious about the music taste of my fellow snuff enthusiasts, so…what’s in your stereo? I’m currently enjoying The Stone Roses’ ‘Second Coming’ for the first time in many years. Some great blues/rock and huge grooves on this underrated record.
Right now I’m listening to: “Yours Truely, Johnny Dollar” Old Time Radio about: “the man with the action packed expense account, America’s fabulous freelance insurance investigator – Johnny Dollar.” I listen to a LOT more OTR than music… When I do listen to music, I’m mostly a Doo-Woper! I also love barbershop harmony. Another favorite is acoustic blues – I am especially fond of the female blues singers from between 1920 and 1940: Bessie Smith, Ida Cox, Alberta Hunter, Ida May Mack, Victoria Spivvy, Ethel Wathers, etc. I get just about all of my music (except female blues singers) online these days.
I listen very différents styles, often rock, many frenchs, but I’m a Pink Floyd fan. I think too to PJ Harvey,Nirvana,thérapy? or the same… …Marilyn Manson,Sépultura…Good jazz equaly
As the moment, although I’m digging the silence, the box is loaded with Bach’s Johannespassion by Bach Collegium Japan/Suzuki
Quid Pro Quo, the latest offering from Status Quo, my overall favourite band. Other than that I’m into prog (Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Kansas etc) and pretty much any classic rock type stuff. Also classical eg Vaughan Williams and Jazz.
Free, Highway. Great band.
@Gandalf You like Sepultura. Do you like Gorod? A GREAT French band, technical death metal at it’s best.
I am listening to Ryan Adams’ new one Ashes and Fire. I am liking it on the first listen through.
@greencrow, RA is a huge talent. I’ve hung out with him a couple of times, and he’s a lovely guy too. Very misunderstood as a person I think. The first time I met him we got riotously drunk, the second time was after he got clean and sober, so we drank mango juice from a veggie stall at the festival we were at. In between our two meetings, he’d bought both the albums I had out at the time, and told me the second time we met how much he’d enjoyed them. I was hugely touched that he’d remembered me at all, let alone bought my records, and he was extremely genuine and sincere. Of the ‘celebs’ I’ve met, Ryan is most definitely my favourite person.
Anything and everything pre-war american blues, country, ragtime or jazz. I will have to look into the artist mentioned above no doubt they are excelent, especially considering the group of gentlmen who are suggesting them. Jinder where could i find one of your albums ? Btw i have almost every Pink Floyd album great band.
I listen to everything – rock, blues, jazz, folk, classical, you name it. Last album I bought was “Sigh No More,” by Mumford & Sons, and I’m really enjoying it. My iPod is usually set to shuffle, and in the course of the day I’ll hear everything from Gregorian chant to bebop to Serbian folk songs to Morrissey.
@Brownnosebeaver speaking of Pink Floyd, I’m currently listening to David Gilmour’s ‘On An Island’, what a great record! I’m a huge Floyd fan too. You can find any of my albums on iTunes or Amazon, if you search for Jinder you’ll turn them up (I’m not to be confused with Asa Jinder, the Swedish harpist or Little Jinder, the Scandinavian dance/dubstep artist by the way!). ‘Nine Cents From Benelux’ is probably the best starting point as it’s a Best Of. I appreciate your interest, my music is low-key and nothing special, I mainly write for other artists now but I still do an album every couple of years.
Everything from Motorhead to Pantera to Sepultura to Bolt Thrower to Black Sabbath. I won’t turn up my nose at some good classical either.
OTR - Candy Matson, YUkon 2-8209 The private detective from San Francisco who wasn’t a girl, she was all woman! This show first aired in 1949. Her sidekick, Rembrant Watson, was an artist who usually had a hangover.
Whole lot of Gomez on my mp3. Love “Bubble Gum Years” and “Tijuana Lady”.
@Jinder. That’s cool that you dig RA too. I met him in Nashville after he did a show, he put on a good show and was gracious as all get out after playing. Always good to talk to someone who likes americana, I don’t meet many people who are into alt. country or americana or whatever the popular name is for it now. What name did you record under? JInder and the Jets maybe, grin?
@KebAMP -I don’t know all the metal wave neither Gorod but if I hear them I would listen.
@greencrow yeah I’m into Americana (like you say, I wish they’d stop changing the damn name!) from all eras…huge fan of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Emmylou, Gram Parsons, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Chris Whitley, Cash, Lucinda Williams, Kristofferson, Carter Family, Wilco/Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt, Ryan and many more. My parents listened to a lot of country when I was growing up, so it’s ingrained somehow. I like blues too, but not in the same way at all. I appreciate blues, whereas I really ‘feel’ old school and modern alternative country. Hehehe ‘Jinder and The Jets’ is better than any bandname I’ve come up with! I normally record under plain and simple ol’ ‘Jinder’, but I fronted a band called The Mercurymen from '06-'09, we’re long dead but thanks to some good luck we had a brief bout of success in the UK, some nice radio play and some great tours in nice venues. On my own my records normally fly under the radar a bit and I mainly play folk clubs and the occasional little arts centre, but it’s good fun and keeps me busy
Not listening to anything right now, but I mostly listen to metal like Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Faceless, Chelsea Grin. Im a metal head \\m/
A nondescript Bagpipe CD.
The Cramps - Green Fuzz
@Gandalf I’m sure you’ll love it! The co-main musical influence of Gorod is jazz. It shows very often in numbers of their songs.
Currently listening to ‘A New Morning’ by Suede. It may have been the album that annihilated the band’s career and alienated 99% of their fans, but it’s still got some moments of greatness on it. The 3CD reissue package is beautifully done, too.
@Jinder My tastes run with yours on most of what you listed. I just listened to your cover of Townes Van Zandt’s If I needed you. Townes will break your heart won’t he, man, the first time I heard Marie the world changed a bit.
Right now I’m listening to Ethel Waters sing some of the off color songs that she wrote and sang before she found God and went to work with the Billy Graham Crusade. e.g.; My Handy Man (1928) http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/song\\_details.aspx?SongID=7425
meat puppets-i’m a mindless idiot.
OTR Dragnet (on the radio) (I’m a “cops & robbers” fan if you hadn’t figured it out yet.)
Elton John - Captain Fantastic LP
@Jinder just been listening to some of your music. Love it man. I am a folky so it kind of right up my street.
I listen too: kate Bush,Lennon or psychédélic techno like Infected Mushroom. In fact I think I like the best for my delicate ear on every music style
@greencrow @jinder … nice to see some fellow No Depression, Postcard lovin’ folks on here … saw many Tupelo/Son Volt and Wilco shows. Loved Ryan Adams’ Whiskeytown, “Strangers Almanac” is a classic … I suspect you both are Steve Earle fans … maybe Richard Buckner as well? Most know Earle, Buckner is unique. I use to follow Blue Mountain, Scud Mountain Boys(Joe Pernice is a master craftman) and the Jayhawks around back in the 90’s … I really miss those intimate 50-100 seat bars … I think the jayhawks are back together again, in their original Louris/Olson combo.
The Doo Wop Box Set (assorted)
Hell yeah Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt. I love old blues folk I’m a huge Ledbelly and Robert Johnson fan as well. Justin Townes Earles’s new album Harlem River Blues is good stuff too. Like Dylan, Jennings, Haggard, and Willie and Cash although Johnny Cash is way too covered. I swear if one more cover of Folsom Prison I’ll - well yeah.
@jinder… It seems as though you have bin a bit modest when speaking of your musical career, you have a good following from what ive seen. While im not familiar with the music of today i must say i like your style, and have added your album to an evergrowing wish list. I have David gilmours self titled solo album and love it. Have you ever listened to Syd Barretts solo work? Its very unpolished but still great especially if your a fan of Pink Floyds early work. @Jrabevil…Really happy there is another Leadbelly fan here! Not long after buying a few of his albums i picked up a cheap 12 string and since gotton hold of a stella harmony baritone 12 string much like the one he plays. Its currently out of commission with a broken truss rod though I completely agree with Cash being covered to much and i looks like i have to pick up some more Townes!
@snuffbrant… Yes I am a big fan of Steve Earle, I’ve seen him a ton of times at a small bar in Columbia, Mo. I was just listening to his Townes album today. I’ll have to look up Richard Buckner as I haven’t heard anything by him. You into the Avett Brothers? They are a North Carolina band and I have them on heavy rotation.
Recently, the best one has been Carole King’s The Carnegie Hall Concert 1971. Fantastic, especially when James Taylor joins in.
Earle’s tribute to TVZ is nice. @greencrow … I do like the Avett brothers. if i recall they had an older band, Nemo, though I am not familiar with them. There is an NC band i really like currently, Roman Candle, have you heard of them? Right now … heavy in my rotation is My Morning Jacket’s catalog on shuffle … and Wilco’s new one, “The Whole Love” … also, kinda hate to admit it, but Ray Lamontagne is quite fantastic albeit derivative, but what music hasn’t been done before?
currently dave mattews- gravedigger, next up falling down by oasis mainly i’ll lidten to anything but its gotta have the right feel to it. and it also depends on the mood or place you are
@brownnosebeaver I’m a huge fan of Syd’s solo work-in fact, I probably listen to more Barrett that I do Floyd. I know everyone says Madcap Laughs is his best but I prefer the second self-titled album, it seems a bit less tortured than Madcap and further ‘out there’, it really has a sense of whacked-out wonder about it that I’ve never heard anywhere else. @greencrow Townes was incredible, I learned so much from his songwriting-I love the fact that he was a great storyteller in song but always deeply (and often painfully) honest…he really leaned into the darkness, too far perhaps by the end of his life, but his songwriting just got better and better. Marie is one of my favourites too, absolutely chilling stuff. @theratroom thanks for the kind words! I’m a folky at heart too, I keep going off and joining noisy rock bands for fun but I always come back to the acoustic guitar, country and folk music. @snuffbrant I’m a big Earle fan, I’ve yet to get into Richard Buckner but he has been recommended to me so I’ll check out his music. Jayhawks were one of my favourite bands of the '90s/early '00s, I had no idea they were back together. They made some killer records, amazing atmospheric stuff, some of my favourites. Stranger’s Almanac era Whiskeytown was incredible too…I’ve bought and given away loads of copies of that album to friends, it’s one of the best introductions to contemporary Americana I think, I’ve yet to meet anyone who could resist ‘Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart’ or ‘Houses On The Hill’. Actually, I think it might need a spin right now!
yeah, technically the jayhawks have always been together, without Olson, but been on hiatus for a few years … Olson rejoining is new this past year or so … which was what made their melodies so sweet. Pure pop heaven “I’d Run Away” … and “Stranger’s Almanac” hasn’t a single bad song on it … I love Replacements-inspired “Waiting to Derail” and “Losering” … and absolutely love “16 Days” and “Avenues”.
Ryan Bingham, Junky Star. Any fans here? I also like Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt. I saw Townes in a roadhouse outside of Reno about two months before he died. A special treat as I had been a fan since the early seventies.
@snuffbrant… listening to Roman Candle for the first time right now. I definitely like this song- Eden Was a Garden, gonna look up more. Thanks for the suggestion. @roho… Yes I like Ryan Bingham, The Weary Kind is a great tune. It looks like this is turning into the Americana music thread.
Listening to Radio 4 as usual. Not your typical 20yr old student listening, I admit. But it’s a great way to keep up to date with things, and listen to interesting discussions… And Sailing By is lovely to fall asleep to.
Eddie Palmeri salsa
been listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Johnny Lang on shuffle on my MP3 player, Sometimes the Eagles and Some Motown get thrown in for good Measure. edm
Alèmayèhu Eshèté
@bob -bless you… -)) ; It might be anscestral with such a name. Unluckly I don’t listen many music actually and I don’t know them.
it’s the name of a singer. His music though is amazing. It is ethiopian jazz, which is an amazing genre. It’s a little jazz a little funk a little tradional african, it’s a little ska, a little motown, and then some. It’s amazing
After getting my first day off in 2 weeks I am sitting back with Frédéric Chopin’s 21 Nocturnes, 15 being my favorite. Oh and a big pinch of Dholakia Kamal.
Grieg, Peer Gynt incidental, London Symph/Oslo Phil. Choir, Per Dreier (cond.)
music the cheapest luxury of modern times. Cheap as in it’s amazing what you get for a few bucks.
For a Minor Reflection at the minute. Excellent post rock band from Iceland. Got both their albums, it’s amazing that they are still unsigned, they definately give Sigur Ros a run for their money. Stefan
kickin out the oldschool jams… Nirvanas bleach
Jinder just was watching your youtube vids, great stuff. Van Zandt wrote alot of great songs. of cource it must be the name, just jokeing. some would think that all of them are related, Steven Van Zandt from the e-street band is Italian. And Ronnie, Johnnie, and Donnie Van Zant are from Jacksonville Florida. Donnie was in 38 special and Ronnie and Johnnie, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ronnie Died the year I Graduated High School, 1977. Donnie and Johnnie Have recorded a few albums under the Name The Van Zants. Of cource their last name is spelled without the D, but we all know that some names are changed upon imagration to the USA. sorry to hyjack and ramble but it is friday night and being that I don’t party at all or drink to much and I’m bored I tend to ramble, oh I’m listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold and Platinum. edm
@mustangii thanks! Some of my YouTube stuff is a bit ramshackle, I need to tidy it up a bit but I’m not in a hurry. I will make it more presentable by the time my next record is out, but that’s not til next June/July so plenty of time! Yes indeed there are a lot of gifted Van Zandt/Zants in music, unrelated I’m sure but brilliant nonetheless. I’m a huge fan of TVZ and am constantly singing his praises to all and sundry! Skynyrd speak for themselves of course, absolutely unbelievable band, one of the best. It’s a shame tragedy befell them and their career in its original incarnation wasn’t longer, but sometimes rock’n’roll creates its legends that way.
The imagined village for me tonight.
Yeap Skynyrd was great, Played Freebird at my brother’s funeral 5 years ago, along with Vince Gill’s ,Go Rest High on that Mountian. and Live like You were dieing by Tim McGraw. and I can Only Imagine by Mercy Me. I had Tickets to Their concert with The Dobie Brothers at the last Missouri State Fair, then they canceled at the last minute again because of illness in the band. That’s what I get for being a fan of Classic Rock. The Bands are all getting old like the rest of us, lol. edm
Been a Miles Davis sort of evening so far. Already listened to Kind of Blue, followed by Miles Ahead, and currently listening to Miles Smiles
@tybalt, Sketches Of Spain is my favourite Miles. I know Bitches Brew is the one most people sing the praises of, but I find it hard work indeed (and I’m a Beefheart/Zappa fan, so not averse to skronky noise!). Kind Of Blue is gorgeous, isn’t it? On a completely different tack, I’m currently listening to Steve Knightley’s ‘Live In Somerset’ album, recorded on the tour I saw him on last year. Powerful stuff if you dig folk music.
@Jinder, I saw Show of Hands, in Chesterfield in May. Bloody excellent show, I can’t recommend them highly enough. Knightly has a great voice and Phil Beer could play any instrument you give him, and Miranda Sykes adds a nice touch too. I’ve not heard any of Knightly’s solo stuff yet, but will seek it out. Stefan
@Jinder, just looked at your Myspace page and listened to a couple of your songs. You have one hell of a voice! Stefan
Show of hands are amazing. I think a will put some on now.
Roots sums up everything about politics in this country. YTF is England, and Englishness being attacked from all angles in the media etc.? ENGLAND - MORE THAN A FOOTBALL TEAM! Stefan
Jack Black or Jack White, but I’m color-deaf so I can’t tell the difference.
Lmao @Xander. The White Stripes are excellent. I think it was their first album, for the UK at least released 2002-3ish?, that was a superb album. Stefan
Yeah but what about Tenacious D? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvvjiE4AdUI
Erik Satie, Mulatu Astatke, Hallelujah Chicken Run Band & Sweetwater Abilene
@walrus1985 I’m a huge SoH fan, brilliant band-my wife, if anything, is an even bigger fan than me…she played the Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed album endlessly for a good six months when it came out, so much so that it’s permanently ingrained in my psyche! Both Phil Beer and Steve Knightley are local to me (I live in Bridport in the Westcountry), and I’ve bumped into them a couple of times whilst in town…I’ve asked Steve to co-write with me a few times, but he probably thinks I’m some kind of lunatic. Oddly enough, Billy Bragg and PJ Harvey both live within walking distance of my house too…I bumped into PJ Harvey quite literally the other day-I nearly knocked her over when she swung out of a shop doorway-the day after she won the Mercury prize, and I have shared a queue with Billy Bragg in my local NatWest more than once. Very odd! Thanks for listening to my stuff, I’m flattered that you enjoyed it…As I said before, it’s fairly low-key music which I potter about with for my own pleasure, whereas my main line of work is writing for a publishing company who aggregate my songs to other artists. It’s a fun field to work in, but one that requires a great deal of psychological resilience to ride the various ups and downs that come with the territory. Luckily I’m a hardy sort with a Stakhanovite work ethic, but I can see how the music industry eats the more sensitive souls for breakfast.
@Jinder with all these names being mentioned have you ever been to Chester folk festival.
@theratroom I never have, I’d like to though…I’ve only been to Chester once, for a gig at Alexander’s Jazz Theatre. Is the festival annual?
Alexander’s is a great venue I go quite a lot. Yes the festival is annual it is always on the may spring bank holiday. It is a small friendly affair. I highly recommend it. They have a website check it out. You could even come and play.
I will check their website out, thanks for the tip! If I can land a slot there, all the better
I hope you do it would be cool to see you play and to meet a fellow forum member.
If I manage to get a booking, I’ll have a pinch onstage in your honour!
Cool.
On the whole there’s not a lot of music that I don’t listen to. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Dubstep. A genre of music that will no doubt feel nauseating to many people, but I have grown to like it quite a bit. On the other end of the spectrum I will often find myself listening to Wagner, Bach and Stravinsky. Music is wonderful in that way. There’s always something to fit a certain mood. Another extreme, at least for a european, is Country music. I will happily listen to Brad Paisley mucking up his brand new pickup truck from time to time. If I were to act my age, I guess I should be listening to pop/rock a lot more than I do, but I got over the whole Metallica, Nickelback, R.E.M. thing several years ago. And I’m not even 35 yet.
The Clash-Clash on Broadway. God, I’d forgotten just how much I love this band.
@tybalt … Nice!

Tom Waits-Closing Time. One of my favorite albums of all time.
@brandasaur MESHUGGAH!!! Have you listened to Periphery??? Great new “djent” band I love my metal baby…
@Transistor Just listened to some Periphery on their MySpace. The music is pretty good, not used to this guitar tone but I like it. Only thing is I am not keen on this kind of screaming-reaching vocals. I have been listening to metal for like 30 years now and I have become kind of picky on the vocals!
Right now it’s “Mixmag Presents Maya Jane Coles: Feel the Future.” I’m very picky when it comes to dance music, but this young British DJ/producer is rocking my world at the mo.
Spinning some vinyl tonight, The Doors at the moment.
Warren Zeon, Life’ll Kill Ya
More “Old Crow Medicine Show”. Specifically “Wagon Wheel”, because its one of the best songs ever. I dare you to listen to it and not like it.
Benny Goodman Trio and Quartet Sessions, Vol. 1: After You’ve Gone
Yes! Periphery is one of my fave bands at the moment. Djent is the best way to go, theres a band called Benea Reach that is pretty decent too.
Jeff Beck - Emotion and Commotion
“Classic Sounds of New Orleans from Smithsonian Folkways”
East Coast Doo Wop on Live 365
@kebamp @brandasaur Yeah Periphery’s good I don’t care for the Vox much either but I like the riffs

Morrissey - “Hairdresser On Fire”
Miles Davis…kinda blue…KRANKED!
great album nightcap. As I wait for my girlfriend to return with skyrim (guess it’s good bye for a while guys) listening to sebadoh. I can’t believe I missed this band when they where a new band, then again I didn’t appreciate dinosaur Jr. either so…

What’s currently playing is Fighting Trousers by Professor Elemental. Chap Hop, gotta love it.
@Brandasaur do you like more death metal stuff aswell as the more deathcore stuff? Such as Skinless, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, ect. Also do you listen to Despised Icon? They are definantly one of my favorite metal bands of all time, I got to see them on their final tour. this is from their last record http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEM9W14TsWQ they started to go for that more ‘bro’ look with the flat brim hats and polo shirts, but idc about that, its the music thats important to me, and they are still brutal.
For the more socially acceptable music, I like ska and original skinhead type music. The Specials are one of the bands I listen to more than any other. Toots and Maytals are great, Symarip is great. My friend just showed me this real old school band called the skatalites http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9HyXc4e7Qc&feature=related
I like most of the skinhead music that developed afterwords, the faster ska and the punk music that followed, Cockney Rejects, 4 Skins, The Strike, Strength Through Oi! Compilation, more modern stuff like the Skinflicks. I like most punk, not just Oi!. My favorite band is probably the Last Resort http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFdGMlE-vq0&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLEEB0163A0AD2172F
I like lots of folk instrumental and eastern music, Buddhabar (unsure of spelling there) is a good one, but im not really familiar with names; I like panflute music too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOaoUx0Mc0Q
I dont listen to much pop or radio music, though recently I fell in love with the Adelle songs you hear on the radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAc83CF8Ejk I mentioned on a different post that she smokes cigs, we should get her to use snuff XD
I hope all these links are acceptable
just for the sake of peace I’am going to throw in that skinhead when ska was around wasn’t the same thing it is now. In fact it came from how hot Jamacia is. Just make sure people know that before it gets stupid.
311-From Chaos Bringin’ me back to high school days.
@bob The damn Neo-Nazis even gave hairless Chihuahuas a bad name.
I tend to keep my head between skin and a #2 at any given time. it keeps me cool since my office is packed full of heat-generating computer equipment.
@bob I think I made it pretty clear as to what ‘skinhead scene’ I am refering to.
Unfortunately I did not realise that this discussion is multiple pages and I ony read the first page when I posted, so I would like to add that Meshugga is brutal, i’m glad we got some metal heads on here. I’d like to ask, what do you think of hardcore music like Sick of it All and Hatebreed.
Definatly. Though that’s the kind of thing that in diverse groups it’s much better to over explain like my feet tattoos.
by the way morphine is on my stereo.
Fugazi is spinnin’ in the record player right now.
Jammin’ out to Tech N9ne ft. Three 6 Mafia - Demons
@Vito445
That’s my city in the background in the Despised Icon video. Montreal is a pretty good place for metal. Lots of shows and a good local scene.
I think Metal is more than socially acceptable, it’s socially desirable! Everyone should go metal now! Yeah! \\m/
edit: can’t get rid of the stupid highlights
@KebAMP \\m/
@FlippinBird Fugazi is good stuff, did you listento Minor Threat aswell?
On my computer / stereo… Howard Stern…
Edit… He’s interviewing Roger Waters… pretty cool…
@Vito445 Most definitely. I own minor threat’s self titled album and fugazi’s repeater both on colored vinyl. To me both are equally enjoyable, just in different ways. Those two records are all I have of them. Ian Mcaye turned into a great lyricist when he formed Fugazi. Looking to pick up their other albums online soon.![]()

Bob, funny I listen to more Siouxsie and the Banshees more than anything else! Do you have “Nocturne” (1983, live)?
Nothing on at the moment, but I also like The Cure, Brian Eno, Skinny Puppy, Ministry (mid career), Bad Brains, Jazz (inc Miles and Coltrane), Bob Marley, Babes in Toyland (MN, yes), of course a lil Hendrix, and other stuff still too check out more closely…
Creole Jazz Serenaders with Don Vappie
cannot for the life of me get myself to commit to buying any new music lately … i miss albums, a cohesive whole … ruminating on Ariel Pink, Girls, War on Drugs and Kurt Vile … also thinking about picking up some more Stars, but that is a safe play on my part. Just rummaging through iTunes … most if derivative and boring … need something that grabs me!
The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium
Now that is a good album flippinbird. What a drummer!
Mr. O that is awesome. Me I’ve been listening to more current 93 and morphine then anything else.
Cool! Though I’m not familiar with current 93- I’ve heard a little bit of Morphine, but not enough to really get a feel of their stuff.
Anyone heard Brian Eno “Here Come The Warm Jets”
Laibach anyone? 808state? Front 242? Other industrial’s or Techno’s.
Just went to Barnes and Noble to use up some gift cards, and they had a 3 for 2 deal. Got: The Cure at Bestival '11, Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, Evanescense “anywhere but home”, Brian Eno “small craft on a milk sea”, Interpol(I forget), and St Vincent. A good haul from a bookstore!
The Very Things - The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes
Final Fantasy VII soundtrack…what? I can nerd out if I want to and I adore One-Winged Angel.
George Jones - Radio Jamboree 1963 album
@dakotas great taste!
Jackie Leven - Wayside Shrines And The Code Of The Travelling Man. Jackie was a friend of mine, a prodigiously gifted songwriter and storyteller and a magnetic personality. Sadly he passed away last November after a battle with cancer, but this album, recorded mere months before his passing, is a beautiful epitaph. I can’t listen to ‘Dagenham Dream’ without getting choked up. It’s such a personal song, a farewell to life itself and everyone therein, all in just over two minutes. Heartbreaking stuff from a true poet.
@Eraserhead78 Omar Rodriguez-Lopez can wail on the guitar! Love to zone out with their music. (especially while snuffing some Kendal Special!)
Playing The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

The Animals - Don’t let me be misunderstood
Hey bob! What do you have by Siouxsie and the Banshees? Do you like the Cure? Is good to find kindred musicfolk!
The Steve Miller Band
I do like the cure. You know I don’t know what Siouxsie I have, I bought it and my g.f. listens to it all the time so in my mind it’s just a big box of Siouxsie. I know that’s lame but I don’t tend to learn song titles ever. Of course I like the cure but I’am not sure if i like the music or if it is pavlovian. There was a good stretch where if I was with a girl and she put on the cure it was considered to be a statement of intent.
Selfless by godflesh
Alas it’s this as my grand ma has just passed. But it’s still beautiful…
scott mckenzie - san francisco
The Guess Who - no sugar tonight
bob- that’s how it happens sometimes, and yeah I get the personal association thing. In my case when I put on The Cure, it’s just a vague nostalgia about that era (the mid 80’s on forward) if anything. Hadn’t listened to them much for quite a while, then started again, thier stuff tends to hold up well over time. Never stopped listening to Siouxsie really.
I sort of stopped listening to Siouxsie cause my girlfriend hated it and well I can respect not listening to something when she is around since she returns the favor. Then one day she listened to it again and said sometimes my head gets stuck way up my ass (her words not mine).
So is life I guess. There’s a thing or two nice about being a hermit too. (like I kinda am, a happy hermit-no estrogen in my cave recently)
I am very sorry to hear of your loss @Talljim, my prayers are with you brother.

Omnia - Wolf Song. Adore this song, love this band…they just need to shut up about everything not pertaining to their music because then they just sound stupid.
@Harlequin Is that Omnia the metal band or Omnia the folk band?
@Xander The folk band. I just get annoyed with their “meat is evil. McDonalds is evil!” stuff, which was fixed by “unliking” their facebook page, lol. But their music is too good to pass up.
@johnnyfriday @pot poe I was in a band that opened for RHCP many years ago. Very cool guys
@transistor Who was their guitarist at that the time? If it was was Frusciante Im jealous as hell.

There was a great programme on the Doors last week, who I also listen to, the three of them look great and still have a load of passion for what they did with JM.

oh man you guys better listen the Chamleons UK. I’am. I mean if you like echo and you don’t like Chamleons I don’t know what to think.
i’m with you, @bob … Chameleons UK = yes. I may have “Strange Times” somewhere on vinyl … gotta dig it out.
@snuffbrant Yes my friend! I grew up in the eighties or the ‘New Wave’ era. Roxy Music, Peter Murphy, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Love and Rockets…All in rotation on my ipod. Reminds me of the good ole days.
Absolutely, BigDaddy … me as well. Your rotation sounds about like mine, along with The English Beat, The Church, New Order, R.E.M., the Replacements, on and on … man, say what you want about the 80’s, but the “alternative music” at that time was truly something special. Had to really hunt for it and drive miles to a college town record store to find good music.
@snuffbrant Brother our tastes are identical. The Church, Hoodoo Gurus, ABC, XTC, Tears for Fears. The 80’s, in my opinion was a magical time in music. There was a huge blend of all kinds of music. I think it had a lot to do with a surge of British music that influenced American taste. It seems we get a flood of great music that way. Assuming your in the states. I am really interested in collecting vinyl now. Before I really didn’t care about format but I really dig the sleeve art. Maybe I will start hunting around for vinyl
@bob, wow, Chameleons are good! My first impression it’s like early Cure with Joy Devision and a hint of Isis.
Not sure where in the states you are, BigDaddy … but vinyl is certainly making a resurgence … in cincinnati, Everybody’s Records and Shake It Records are two very good spots to thumb through vinyl stacks. Every time I drop the needle, that hush and whir and flickery static is music to my ears.
Scissor Sisters
And my Window Media player random choice is- The Invisible Gardener, Bright Eyes.

@Xander not a 45, but pulled it up on youtube. NICE!
@Vito445 No I have never heard of them but I’m a huge fan now. Anytime I see dudes older than me up on stage rocking as hard as these guys I have nothing but respect. Nice old school punk rock sound. Have you been a fan of this band for a long time? I going to look these guys up on the internet. I like to learn the history behind bands.
@Vito445 I was reading the lyrics to the song ‘Tart’. Classic! This band is going into the rotation. Thanks for the post.
@BigDaddySnuff In my younger years I was always a metalhead, but now Punk and Oi! makes up 90% of the music I listen to. I found who Cock Sparrer was through the compilation album Strength Thru Oi!
Minus the Bear: Infinity Overhead
Steve Earle, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt

Dhrun you mean Elvis didn’t write hound dog??
That’s correct. It was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, they gave it to Big Mama, who recorded it in 1952. Elvis covered it in '56. The Presley version is by far the most popular, but I prefer the original. It’s on the 'Tube, recorded in mono of course, but still very much worth a listen.
@Dhrun I like that version. I think I have it here somewhere. Might be on my Time Life Roots of Rock CD Now this: Have I posted it before? Anyway, I keep going back to watch it. Not sure why… http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=S761FwuY6TY&NR=1

Aaron lewis. I love staind but Anything he does acoustically is amazing. Cynic-Focus…music from the other side…
I am venturing into the world of classical music for the first time and research the music that classical admirers post which led me to Vivaldi. I found the following composition very enjoyable especially: 2:13- Things mellow into this tension building syncopated (is that the right term?) beat 2:23- Violin comes back in to to add force and seems to pull the background along 2:33- Violin now takes lead, background fades 2:42- Violin ties in the background but plays twice as fast, still building more tension 2:51- There seems to me to be three layers here. You have the background playing whole notes, something playing quarter notes, and the main violin playing triplets. (I don’t play so I’m just winging it, so correct me if I’m wrong) 3:12- POW! everything comes together, releasing all that built up tension. At this point you have to decide whether to shit or go blind. I can honestly say this music gave me goose bumps but I had to listen to it 30-40 times to really appreciate it. I didn’t realize how complex classical music is and requires the listener to be engaged to fully grasp it. I’m kinda diggin it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzCL9uLkQSI
@bigdaddysnuff good one. That’s one of my favorites. Everyone needs to have the whole of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in their collection. Winter is the best, Spring is the second best. But to listen to the whole work together its pretty amazing.
@Xander I am listening to the complete Four Seasons and it appears that what I posted is only a portion of Winter. Is that correct? It seems like within Winter there are two other movements. I’m lost. Winter starts at 32:48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRxofEmo3HA

Archaic Revival http://www.paganevolution.com/sounds.html Not sure how I found this, as its a very small indie band, but I ended up buying the CD several months back from their online vendor. I recommend track 2 and track 4. (though the whole album is very good)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu2169itPM0 Yes one of my all time favorite albums. Mixes my love of old industrial with jazziness.

I think satch is the best of the guitar wankers. He’s the only one of this flashy super skilled guitarists that seems to think in terms of songs more so then showing off. Nothing wrong with showing off by the way, I just like substance more.

They’re musicianship is insane, they’re technical as hell, the compositions are awesome and change all the time, Jennings’ voice is ecstasy for the ears and both albums are masterpieces for me. I need another one!
@basement_shaman Great selection. This is one I will have to buy on dvd for my collection. The music flicks from this era are timeless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3IyH8So62E good band name @-)
Here’s one we’re just releasing today. My friend’s band BAD PARTY. The song is called Rape Detroit. It was recorded in my studio and I just finished making the video. http://youtu.be/thNSmF\\_tFPk
@basement_shaman Floyd’s best album, IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v80aDPBu27U The scenes from Melancholic work so well, but the choppy stuff doesn’t. Either way, Gonzalez is a genius and this song is so deep.

I don’t know what it is but I figured this is one of your favorites. I guess I’am just good at figuring things out about people. Roundabout used to be one of my show off songs (crudily called a panty melter). I forgot how to play it now.

Tool the best prog band that people think is a metal band ever! Just finished listening to a hell of alot of Django Reinhardt. What an amazing guitarist. Interestingily just like toni Iommi of black Sabbath, Django injured his fingers and had to develop a new style of play because of it. Just a little synchronicity for y’all.
now listening to a mad favorite del the funky homosapien.
@bob Hell yeah, they most certainly are. They’re technical masterminds and it’s exactly what my ears want. The more technical and talented, the better. Also, props Del. Love that guy, and Heiro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5veGuULOso Another awesome prog band. They are similar to Porcupine Tree and also have that Pink Floyd influence as well. Fantastic band.

Dinosaur Jr.-I Bet on Sky
@bob Love Rush!!! I missed them at Purdential Center in October, their new album is solid too. I’m partial to the early stuff, 2112, Hemispheres, etc. They’ve been one of the most consistent bands ever, still putting out good music. @stever The new Dinosaur Jr album is so good. Love those guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC0ZASAdQUA Califone is frequently played in my room. Always a soothing band to listen to.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0rTkQLLk9o New album from Field Music. They play around with odd time sigs and change them up frequently, kind of King Crimson-like, which is what drew me to the album immediately. I’ve heard of them and listened to them a few times in the past, but this album is the best thing I’ve heard from them yet, which is now going to make me go through their entire catalog again, thoroughly this time. Absolutely love it.

@toffeenose … how you feeling about it after such a long wait? you know kevin? me - i haven’t quite warmed up to it … wanted, i don’t know, more … different … still trying.
@snuffbrant: I think it’s great. Had to play it a couple of times to really get into it though, and the vinyl sounds 100% better than mp3. I think after 22 years that getting anything at all is a miracle, that it is of this quality is astounding. It does sound quite like Loveless, but then he invented that sound, it would be too much to expect him to invent yet another sound, I think. Although he comes close with Wonder 2. Yes, I know him , I know all the band members a bit, Debbie Googe is a very old friend and Bilinda lives down the road from me here.
@toffeenose … that is exactly what all my friends are saying. and yeah, i agree he invented the sound, and it was so brilliant and tight on “loveless” … so i should probably view it the same way. you run with a cool crowd

@Otherwheres : It never struck me how much that song (and its lyrics) resemble a Brecht/Weill creation, until I saw this version. Thanks. I’m off to the annual Einstürzende Neubauten party in Amsterdam tonight.
@Matou: I think good old Tom Waits was always very much in the Brecht/Weill tradition. I believe he even covered some of their pieces. But maybe I’m mixing him up with someone else. I actually find it amazing how much influence those two had on so many Singer/Songwriters. I’d go so far and say Einstürzende Neubauten owes a lot to them as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec0clERjQ5A Greatness! What crazy times those must have been! And absolutely horrible how it all ended in pain and ashes just a few years later.
Yes, Waits covered at least ‘What keeps mankind alive’ (‘Denn wovon lebt der Mensch’), it’s on Orphans. He did a couple more I believe, must check. And yes, it was great. It still is.

“Pat Novak for Hire” with Jack Webb and Raymond Burr This show came very close to being a parody of the hard-boiled style of such writers as Raymond Chandler, with lines such as: “She drifted into the room like 98 pounds of warm smoke. @bob the same could be said for snuff. Listening to Killswitch Engage at the moment. Still have Bullet and Axewound in the rotation. Takes a while for those to get old. I guess these will have to do while waiting for the new A7x to drop.

Johnny Madero, Pier 23 starring: Jack Webb To say that " Johnny Madero, Pier 23" was similar to Jack Webb’s " Pat Novak . . . for Hire" is putting it mildly. The location setting was the same, the lead would be the same, the supporting characters would be transparent renditions of those from Pat Novak, and of course the dialogue and feel of the production would be almost identical to that of Pat Novak. As they say: If it ain’t broke – don’t fix it!

21st Precinct. Sorta’ like Dragnet, but more focused on the _ internal workings _ of a police department. This show aired from 1953 to 1956 on CBS Radio. It always opened with: “21st Precinct, just lines on a map of the city of New York. Most of the 173,000 people wedged into the 9 tenths of a square mile between 5th avenue and the East River wouldn’t know if you asked them that they lived or worked in the 21st. Whether they know it or not the security of their persons their homes and property is my job, my job and the job of 160 patrolmen, 11 sergeants, and 4 lieutenants of whom I’m the boss. The Blue Beetle An Old Time Radio crime fighting superhero. The Blue Beetle had a relatively short career on the radio, between May and September of 1940. Motion picture and radio actor Frank Lovejoy was the Blue Beetle for the first 13 episodes, while for the rest of the shows, the voice was provided by a different, uncredited actor. The Blue Beetle was a young police officer who saw the need for extra-ordinary crime fighting. He took the task on himself by secretly donning a superhero costume to create fear in the criminals who were to learn to fear the Blue Beetle’s wrath. IMO: This was just a very poor imitation of The Green Hornet.** (Even named it after a colored bug!)**

oh god… lol I used to be a big fan of theirs until this song finally became a hit about three years ago in the US. They cancelled a lot of the concerts they were planning because they were too small I’m assuming. Well, a lot of their older fans that had supported them at music festivals and stuff were offended because the band turned their back on them in a way. Turns out they were just a one hit wonder over here. Asteroids Galaxy Tour- The Sun Ain’t Shining http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXKEQB5Fzao

Skindred’s 2014 album ‘Kill the Power’. In true Skindred style, its mental, shouty, singy, heavy, dancey. I think I preferred ‘Union Black’, but this is fresh, if not as hard.

Indian classical music.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIBeYoP9Wi0 After this six years listening to them on a regular basis, I have to admit it’s one of the best bands around and that I don’t seem to get tired of them like of most others… And I was reluctant to listen to them, at first!
Radio music… Hawaiian, Jamaican, and Alice Coopers Rock show.
Puscifer - Potions https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FAuEb9L\\_Kvg I can’t say enough good things about what Maynard does with Puscifer, Tool, and A Perfect Circle. I enjoy most genres, but favorites in terms of groups or artists… Beck, 13th Floor Elevators, Pink Floyd, Elliott Smith, John Frusciante, Incubus, Alice in Chains… and dozens and dozens of others on my phone.
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. - Ain’t That A Kick In The Head
Old Time Radio: Pete Kelly’s Blues with Jack Webb. Pete Kelly is a jazz musician (trumpet) in a Kansas City speakeasy circa 1927 or so. He always seems to rub both the cops and the gangsters the wrong way… This is arguably the most stylish show (TV or Radio) that Jack Webb ever produced, directed or appeared in.

Dead Kennedys “Rawhide lost sessions” This is live in a studio and at the beginning I thought I saw Jello spitting in a cup. At 2:28 you see him spit and then smile and you can see he has something in the upper deck. I am assuming snus but just cause of the upper lip but this is, I think, from the early 80’s and not too sure how available snus was in San Fran back then. It is amazing the things you notice like this and also when I see people with snuff and pipes in movies and tv now.

@DarthMarklar I had always thought they were Scottish. Maybe there are several connections with Scotland & New Zealand
Plenty of connections with Scotland and NZ! I myself am of Scottish heritage (hence the pipe banding) and plenty of us in the lower half of the South Island are too as most of the area was founded and settled by Free Church Presbyterian Scots, as opposed to most of the rest of NZ north of and including Christchurch which was colonised by English Anglicans. Otago (Dunedin city) and Southland (Invercargill city) were founded and settled by Scots There’s a statue of Robbie Burns in Dunedin city centre too as his nephew, Reverend Thomas Burns, was one of the founders of the city.

Fascinating. The Eno album (Nerve Net) really highlights the Eno influence on Talking Heads, but with the TH element stripped out. Makes one wonder why Eno didn’t just do it himself instead of producing other bands.

For strictly TOOL fans. In dept with TOOL’s mainbrain, composer & guitarist Adam Jones. This is gold if you really like TOOL. Bergtatt - Harpa I took some time to translate the lyrics by google and then moderate it some(no surprise there…). Not perfect but you’ll get the story. This is an old norwegian folktale and it is dark & mystic. It is also beautiful. Enjoy. There lived a farmer on the beach, Harp tones were nice. Two comely daughters he had. Fa la la la la la la la la la The elder to the younger said: Harpa tones were nice. Let us down to the river go. Fa la la la la la la la la la The youngest went lead as a sun, Harpa tones were nice. The oldest after like a worm in soil. Fa la la la la la la la la la The youngest sat on a rock, Harpa tones were nice. The oldest pushed, she was not late. Fa la la la la la la la la la She stretched out her white hand, Harpa tones were nice. And cried sister help me ashore. Fa la la la la la la la la la If I do not help you, Harpa tones were nice. So will your sweetheart marry me. Fa la la la la la la la la la There were two shepherds on the beach, Harpa tones were nice. And they saw the body floating in the river. Fa la la la la la la la la la They took from her body a bone, Harpa tones were nice. And made of it a nice harp. Fa la la la la la la la la la They took two tresses of her hair, Harpa tones were nice. And harp golden strings get. Fa la la la la la la la la la To the sister’s wedding was brought the harp, Harpa tones were nice. And on a stump it was laid… Fa la la la la la la la la la It was later on this evening, Harpa tones were nice. That harp played by itself. Fa la la la la la la la la la When the first string sounded, Harpa tones were nice. It told about the bride’s evil deeds. Fa la la la la la la la la la When the second string rang, Harpa tones were nice. Bride petrified stood. Fa la la la la la la la la la https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\\_WvuguQtHsE

The Air Adventures of Biggles
The one I am currently listening to is a 36 episode that takes place in the West Indies just after WW II .
Biggles and his flying buddies: Algie, Burtie, and Ginger; after flying together in WW I, became “The Air Detectives” who go all over the world fighting the bad guys and saving the day…
Biggles was around long enough to have contributed to the war effort during WW II and continued into the Cold War.
With the advent of television, radio serials pretty much became a thing of the past; but in Australia, where TV wasn’t so fast to catch on due to the vast empty areas, radio adventures were still an opportunity for entertainment. Hence we got the Biggles series of adventures at a time when they were pretty much a thing of the past elsewhere.
The original Biggles adventures written by W.E. Johns are still available on Amazon.
The Cure
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass “South of the Border”
Yma Sumac as part of a Mad Men playlist. Didn’t catch it the first time around. I was a huge Yma fan in the 90s, and had this album on CD, but somehow didn’t notice it in the soundtrack of the show

Oh yeah…haha a squid eating doh in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous, got.me? My dad had that album and I listened to it when I was 13 or so, that led me to becoming a huge zappa fan also.
My favorite off trout mask has got to be “gimme.dat harp boy”
I’ve had a copy of Trout Mask Replica for aeons. Still can’t make head nor tails of it but it has a strange allure. Banging out a bit of early Black Sabbath tonight.
J.S. Bach - Weihnachtsoratorium
Squad Cars
Squad Cars originally aired in 1969 and was a South African police show which had real upbeat music and a flair for the dramatic. The show portrayed police work in the most sensational ways possible.
While it was obviously a spinoff of the Dragnet concept, Squad Cars was more into radio drama. Unlike Dragnet, which was a stickler for details – even down to getting the squad-room numbers right for LA detective departments, Squad Cars focused more on telling a good story.

I’ve been committing aural masturbation and listening to my own stuff. Pretty sure that’s how you get hairy ears.
Steve Earle ~ Copperhead Road
Chuck Mead & The Grassy Knoll Boys ~ Girl On The Billboard
David Bowie - Blackstar
Goldberg Variations - J.S. Bach
Rolling Stones ~ Let It Bleed
JJ Cale ~ Oakie
Again, orbiting around the David Bowie track “Girl Loves Me” from Blackstar which on deeper analysis is written in a peculiar English cant, a cross between Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange (sci-fi) slang and a very archaic slang called Polari which dates from traveling entertainers in England to the theatre culture of London, and while mutating to other subcultures, ultimately being a jargon of stage artists.
Talking Heads-
Billy Joe Shaver/Kevin Fowler ~ Slim Chance And The Can’t Hardly Playboys
@cpmcdill a few years ago an academy award winnin’ actress let the cat outta the bag about a torrid love affair she had with David Bowie and said she still loved him…about 6 weeks afterward, David Bowie released a single Tiltled "Sue "… I still need to find Blackstar on Vinyl , to add to the bin…
some outfit should release a snuff in David Bowie’s honor, call it Ziggy Stardust, please ?
what is the track titled followin’ Sue on Blackstar… :)
imo, not coincidence… and he released blackstar on Jan 8th his 69th bday, passed on the 10th… per plan too, imho…
The track after Sue, “Girl Loves Me” is written in the slang Nadsat from “Clockwork Orange” with some other elements from Polari
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadsat
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polari
and the academy award winnin’ actress who let the cat outta the bag, named Sue…
the tune isnt about her/them, but her name
blackstar a carfully planned alb and release…, imo
- Lazerus, isnt that goodbye to us ?
thus gotta get it for the bin,
the vinyl…
Squad Cars – the South African version of Dragnet on the radio.
I’m listening to the Carter family right now. Hello Stranger.
Cobras & Fire by Monster Magnet
Pearls Before Swine - Rocket Man (a song released in 1970,based on a short story by Ray Bradbury and having nothing to do with the Elton John song)
Guy Clark ~ The Guitar
I lost a lot of my favorites ever since Live365 went toes up at the end of January.
@howdydave - That was indeed a big loss. I had a lot of stations in my favorites list, and would play them (via Roku on the TV) whenever I was preparing food in the Kitchen or doing other chores within hearing distance. The law that caused Live365 to quit affects many other netradio and streaming sites, which will make it hard to find alternatives to Live365. So far it looks like Soma.fm is holding out, but they have a lot fewer stations, and nothing like what I used to listen to on Live365.
Anybody try tunein.com ? Thats what I’ve been using since live365 is gone.

Ray Charles & Norah Jones ~ Here We Go Again
Radio Dismuke
Music from before 1940 (all the way back to Edison cylinders.)
Ever so slightly OT, but is anyone still into vinyl? I rue the money spent on CDs and various players over the years, laboring under the massive delusion that as they are ‘better on paper’ they must sound better and my ears were lying. But no, they really are junk to me. On the platter now… Led Zep 1.
I get all of my music online these days.
Once in a blue moon, I’ll listen to the radio; but most of my radio favorites went off the air before 1958.
Garry Tallent’s new alb, Break Time… released March 4th…

Today was Merle Haggard’s 79th birthday… today he died, … RIP
Merle Haggard ~ Swingin’ Doors
Never thought I’d like Apple Tunes, but I recently got an iPhone. Somehow, some way, they have figured out who I am and what I like. Just yesterday I clicked on the icon on my phone, and there they had selected a bunch of stuff they thought I’d like. They were spot-on. Beatles, Stones, Kinks, moving on to blues. I have a Merle Haggard songbook, and I’m planning to learn some of his tunes. Oops, forgot to mention it but I have NPR on the stereo right now. I am of the 60s/70s generation, so I usually listen to stuff I liked when I was a lot younger. I try new music, but I’m stuck in a place I like I guess.
Sturgill Simpson - Turtles All the Way Down
@lunecat - I met David Peel in Central Park back in '92. Talked with him for a while. He mostly wanted to reminisce about John Lennon, and he was pretty stoned, so it wasn’t the most constructive conversation. But he seemed like a cool guy.
@lunecat - easy mistake to make - I do that myself sometime. John Peel is far more famous than David Peel, so it’s the first thing that comes to mind.
BBC Radio 2

Led Zeppelin have haunted my stereo for over 30 years, but I have phases where I play nothing else. Right now I’m re-obsessed with Physical Graffiti. Pretenders and upstarts come and go through the decades but Zep were, are and forever will be the best. All IMO of course!

Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ ~ Don’t You Know That I Know That You Know
Amy winehouse - he can only hold her
Manipulated Living extended version from the Donnie Darko soundtrack.

NiN - CD 2 that came with the special edition release of the And all that could have been live album. The CD was named Still. A perfect blend of Trenton Reznor’s quiet self destructive melodies and his internally reflective lyrics that make you question your existence. To detach yourself from yourself. Perfect album to fall asleep too.

Just came across this on Youtube a little while ago, and it’s kept my attention nicely. Whole album to stream:

@Psicko I am an Abney Park listener. I also like Steam Powered Giraffe. Professor Elemental’s mention of snuff in a song is what piqued my interest in snuff to begin with.
Listening to Mr B today. Straight Out Of Surrey. This one gave me an interest in cricket.

Hey, that was good, @Psicko. I think the cop at the end even liked it.
@JosephJames, yeah, in the last few years I’ve been listening to some crazy crossover music as the mainstream and even not so mainstream music is getting repetitive for me.

Top of the morning to ya and hats off. Heres a little selexion, Only two but its a start anyway. Something to ponder simply or to say it in other way relax and bibe this lyrics and tones to a beautiful afternoon in the setting sun with your favourite book. Why not buy the record Sons and fascination by Simple Minds. A hallucinating stream of words kind of thing with beating drums. A journey through the maelstrom of nothing. Marvel at the thought of being at odds with everything and nothing. In short great music.

He was an outstanding guitarplayer … died way too young. This makes me sad.
Never mind the b*******s by the Sex Pistols.

I really like this thread! I actually had the though to post somethin like this. Glad I found this’n first, definitely wouldn’t want to ruffle any feathers. Still gettin the hang of forums. I just found this by browsing. Is there any way to search for posts? Just wondering. https://youtu.be/CYic\\_E6ghUo Anyhow, I heard this in my rotation and thought of a snuff takin buddy of mine way up in Saskatchewan.Lol He’s damn near one of the countriest boys I ever met. This’ns got my buddy written all over it. He’s as good as a bonafied Southern born and bred good ol boy in my book. Hunts, farms, likes country music, and loves and works on classic cars and trucks just like me. I wonder if I can talk him onto the back of a bull or bronc someday. Lol Its like lookin in a mirror that has a funny accent that says a-boot instead of about. Not that I don’t have a funny accent too. Its just Clcrazy the similarities folks can find in others, even thousands of miles away.
