This is something that we do at the Thanksgiving table each year. We pass a video camera around and each person looks into it and says what they’re thankful for at the time. It sounds kinda silly, but years later it’s quite fun to look back at it and see what you had to say at the time. Would anyone else like to join in the fun? I’ll go first: I’m thankful for my job. In these tumultuous times I’m glad to be able to provide for my family and myself. I get to make a lasting impression on many people, I am able to provide my wife and children with a decent quality of life, I get to support my snuff/snus habit, I get to meet someone new every day, and I am able to grow the business going forward. That’s the number one thing that I’m thankful for at the moment.
Pretty good, Wicked! Yes, if you had asked me five years ago what I thought about passing around a camera and taping family talking, I’d say it’s corny as hell. Now, with both my parents passed away, I can tell you I’d give any amount of money to be able to see their faces again in a video and to hear them talk to me! So I suppose family and friends is probably my #1 gift I never want to take for granted. The economy can go to hell and you can lose every material thing* you have but if you keep your sense of humor and you have family and friends, you will always be a rich man. * It’s understood that SNUFF is excluded here , for without it, you will never really have success in Life and never truly be Happy.
I’m grateful that after a high-risk pregnancy and being born 14 weeks premature, both my wife and daughter came through with flying colors. I’m grateful for my little family. Being grateful for snuff and Snuffhouse goes without saying, of course!
I’m thankful to be alive man. I had a few potentially fatal incidents as child, and walked away with nothing but a scratch. I’ve always been somewhat lucky, in my own sense that is, that i’ve managed to avoid many terrible things that have happened to people around me. But yeah, I wanna live forever, or like 150 years anyways. I’d like to make a dna time capsule of myself so i can live forever haha. But in all seriousness, i’m glad I still have immediate family to fall back on if things never work out for me. The video camera “journal” is a great idea! I like that. I’m always happy to hear good news, the list truly goes on and on. ~peace~
We don’t have thanks giving in the UK what is it basically about? But…I am thankful to have a wonderful wife and two kids that are trying to make their own way; one studying law and the other carpentry and construction. I am thankful to have a public service job where I won’t get laid off. I am thankful for my church and most of all for Jesus Christ.
Its based on harvest festivals, snuffster, with a nice charm and history. Thanksgiving (US)Canada has taken it up. No reason you guys can’t too. You’ve taken up Halloween after all.
I think Halloween was taken up by us(in the US).
I’m thankful for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for actually moving us closer towards an understanding of our world that doesn’t rely on myths and untestable hypotheses.
Thanks Xander, interesting. We did have harvest festival celebrations but they have all but gone now. We’ve always had halloween just not trick or treat.
I’m thankful that no one holds me accountable for the stupid things I say due to the comedic tone I take. I’m serious you suckers!
teehee
I know, snuffster and tom. Halloween is Celtic in origin and is also a harvest festival. I meant you have taken up the Americanized Halloween. I’ll stand by Thanksgiving as one of America’s best ideas ever. I have some expat cousins in England, and they say it is catching on little by little, mainly due to expats missing it.
Well, Thanks Giving sounds lovely, I’d happily adopt that. Trick or Treat is a bit weird and only partially adopted over here, we didn’t have a single kid this year. Its not the sort of thing English parents tend to buy into because we are all reserved and privacy mad.
a four day weekend oh yeah!
I am thankful I will never spend another summer in Phoenix AZ.
I am thankful for my wife and kids. And for my family and friends. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Even if you don’t celebrate it where you live, have great day!
I’m thankful for Snus, Snuff and all the friends I have made because of them. And all the mushy stuff about family and kids and stuff.
I’m thankful for family, friends, my job and snuff…the usual!
This is the first year I have had to work (bagging groceries) during the thanksgiving holiday and I find myself looking forward to the day when I have a “real” job. But really I’m thankful to have a job period. My heart goes out to the military service men and women living in tent cities longing for their mom’s good home cooking.
