I’ll miss him, don’t think I’ll get another pet for a while. It’s too sad when they die.
sad to hear, edm … thoughts are with you … it is tough losing an old friend …
Yeah he has been us with since he was a kitten, 13 or 14 years old. knew it was going to happen, he’s been sick for about 2 months, Vet said take him home and make him comfortible. He hasn’t ate anything for about 3 days. Drank water but that’s about it. edm
I was so sad when an old cat died. Very hard to express how sad it is. My old cat got into a terrible state where the vets could not help. One evening I had a little talk with him. Next morining he was dead.
Yeah, I was going out of town this weekend to play paintball with my niece and something made me stay home. But we won’t discuss any religous ramifacations here on snuffhouse, but If it did happen it was not for Socks’ benifit, but for mine. edm
@Mustangii right before my first cat Schezicks (you can spell his name any way you want) died he didn’t seem sick just a little old (he was getting a little slow mentaly and physicaly but not so much so for his age, he was old), somethings happened that were mildly horrible that forced me to move back in with my parents for a month between apartments. I know now that part of why was so I could spend the last month with him before he died. I guess I’am saying sometimes there are things that just have to happen and anyone can understand that. Socks looks like a sweetness, you’re lucky to have lived with the kitty.
Sorry to hear that @mustangii :-(. I had cats growing up, and it was awful when they died. Hopefully I’ve got out of the losing pets thing. I’ve got a tortoise, he’ll outlive me all being well. It’d crucify me if he didn’t though. Stefan
I too am sorry to hear about your cat passing. I can relate to what you’re going through, I lost Scooby Doo who was my best cat since childhood 3 years ago this fall about 2 weeks before they recalled all of the special kitty cat food. We’d taken him to the veterinarians office four times within 2 weeks and the final time there they’d kept him and administered an IV were doing more tests because he was in such bad shape. He was a 4 year old orange tabby colored Maine Coon Cat who’d play fetch with and always set on the arm of my recliner. He was a afraid of thunder but was a loving companion to myself and my family. He was a good cat and I miss him. Steven
Socks would fetch, too. His favorite was the rings off of Gallon milk jugs. Would do that for hours on end. edm
So sorry for your loss. I lost my cat Kali almost a year ago. She was the same age as Socks. Sometimes I still wake up in the middle of the night, thinking she’s jumped up in bed with me, as she used to do. (She was a very large cat, and when she jumped on the bed, it was enough to wake the soundest sleeper.) I don’t grieve for her any more, but I still miss her.
I had a few cats growing up. Miss em all to this day bunch of characters they were.
outbackblackjack Was Checking out Maine Coon Cats, Maybe after I get over the lose of socks I’ll check out a breeder in Neveda MO. thanks edm
mustangii - I sent you a pm so as not to go too far off topic and use up valuable board space.
Sorry to hear that. Pets are like family in my household.
Sorry to hear the passing of your good friend. Stay strong!
Sorry for your loss, its always sad to lose a family member be it human or not
As a cat lover I feel for you. I’ve had them all my life. So sad to loose a fury four legged friend.
So sad to read it and wish you the best.
Very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
My condolences to you on your loss, friend. As a cat-dad many times over I know how much it hurts…
Yeap thanks, doing better today. edm
I really feel for you. I found an old cat on a rubbish dump, apparently he had lived there for years. Took him home and had his various medical issues dealt with by a fantastic vet. He had three years of luxurious living with us and passed away in our arms. It was very, very hard but four years later we have 3 cats, all rescued. The old guy really showed us how beautiful cats are. The cat lovers are all with you.
Socks looks just like my piebald cat, killed on the road. Small consolation, but many here know how you feel. Cats have their own unique personalities, and to their owners the world seems impoverished when they die. Perhaps the worst aspect of animal bereavement is that normal working life is expected to carry on regardless. After a weekend of searching and finally finding my beloved cat, dumped in a black bin-bag by the roadside, I had to quickly bury him before catching a long haul flight from London. No one could possibly have guessed how devastated I felt, and only the death of my first wife was worse. Never had a pet since. Never will again.
On a lighter note, the theolegy of dogs and Cats You feed the dog and he thinks " You feed me, so you are god" You feed the cat and he thinks “You feed me , so I am god” edm
I go by the old adage ‘dogs have owners, cats have staff’. Sums them up purrfectly.
Dogs think very highly of you. THey think you are part of their pack. @edm I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I know the feeling. I STILL look for my cat that passed when I wake up…
My condolences, it is hard…
And:- “Dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you.”
I’ve had several cats that would come when called. Unlike dogs it only works for certain people. My one cat “Mister”(his nickname) would only follow my brother. My parents other cat schiezicks (spell it however you want to) was like that for me. Bobo (didn’t name him) well I think he thought he was a dog and pretty much was like the best of cat and dog.
My heartfelt condolences, mustangii. I know how you must be feeling, I lost my cat, Kitty (18 years together from when she was 3 weeks old) a year ago this coming Saturday. I’m still not ready to even think about having another cat. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
From a conversation with a colleague from about 2 years ago that sums up the dog-cat dichotomy succinctly: Me: “Dogs are yes-men, that’s why I like cats.” Colleague: “That’s why I like dogs.”
Well it’s been a week, and was feeling pretty good, still miss him meeting me at the door when I get home from work. Been hot here in Missouri. so dinner was a bowl of frosted flakes. lol. socks used to wait till I was done, then beg to lick the bowl, lol. edm
My heart goes out to you. I am a die-hard animal lover. Not really a cat person, but I did rescue one some years ago. He stayed with my parents when I went off to college. He was a sweet boy and had a good life, but he got old
