OT: Today's launch

…if you’re interested: www.spaceflightnow.com Select MISSION STATUS CENTER , below the picture.

Is this the new Falcon 9 by SpaceX? I was reading about that earlier. I’d like to see a mission to Venus. I have always been interested in Mars, and the photos, and the interesting anomalies. But I didn’t know much about Venus, untill I did some searching, and found the USSR sent a lander there, that took a few pics, mostly the ground, but a little sky. Very interesting.

I doubt it’s going off today, it’s been raining. We’ve been having bad thunderstorms all week.

Hasn’t rained at all today at Cape Canaveral. Storms seem to get withing 20 miles and then dissipate. Weather and range are both clear for go.

@tom502: The SpaceX vehicle is not for manned spaceflight. It’s designed to be a ‘mule’ to ferry cargo to/from the In’tl Space Station or to launch satellites. After the Shuttle program ends, the only manned ‘ride’ will be the Russian Soyuz

On the news this morning, they said that they are going to explore manned spaceflight using the SpaceX.

After Sputnik and Vostok 1 there’s nothing to get excited about.

IT’s ON…again. T-8 min. and counting…

And off she goes… Our news here sucks so bad. I click on the link that says “Falcon 9 Rocket Launches from Cape Canaveral” it then take me to a page that says “Rocket Scrubbed at Last Second” Huh?

@tom502 I’ve been always a big fan of USSR/Russian space programs, they did pretty amazing stuff out there like that probe to Venus and cosmonauts like Gagarin and Titov were uber cool. Space station Mir on orbit for 15 years and occupied for almost 13 is about the grandest achievement of engineering ever.
