Hey everyone. I was told by a few people that real swedish snus is really enjoyable while enjoying snuff. I was wondering whats a reliable website to buy snus from in the US?

F

http://www.northerner.com/ http://www.getsnus.com/ Not the greatest selection in the worl…but i haven’t seem to find any overseas distributors that will ship to the US. Edit: They DO have a decent bonus points system, and the shipping is pretty quick!

N

I will second Fisch’s recommendation thats where I get all of my snus, but when ordering to the US you are limited to what they carry in their US warehouse.

H

Thanks a lot. I’ve tried amrican snus such as camel snus, but i’ve heard its terrible compared to real swedish snus. I’m excited to try some out.

A

buysnus.com is good and they ship everywhere.

F

Swedish IS a whole different world…but MUCH more enjoyable than that US swill. Plenty of snusperts on this forum, so I’m sure you’ll have no trouble getting suggestions. As n9inch mentioned, you’re gonna be limited, but we won’t steer ya wrong! Ha! forgot about them…guess I assumed since Northerner was being such jacktards about shipping from overseas…everybody was. Thanx Allan!!

B

It’s really much more affordable for them to ship from a warehouse in PA it has something to do with the way the tax system works. Which pretty much explains where you can get nearly anything shipped from or where it is made. May also have something to do with some aspect of swedish postal law. Basicly the only reason we can get can get our snuff shipped from England has to do with international treaties which it is not worth the u.s. getting flack for violating against a country that they have certain dimplomatic ties with. Seriously it’s not worth pissing off england over snuff, maybe it doesn’t matter so much with Sweden and international trade lawyers would definatly be more aware of the ins and outs of what I’am speculating. Though I’ve been happy with the Northerner. I’ve had a few orders go wacky and they’ve always been good about it except for one time but that’s because I didn’t do anything about it (it was a really small order that would’ve made half a week better before I got paid enough to make a big overnight order.) Their shipping is now really fast. With both suppliers it’s best to order a decent quanity to offset shipping costs. If that’s too rich for your blood for a trial maybe see if anyone might be willing to arange a trade if you find yourselve disapointed.

Luckily for me, I pretty much stick to the General and Ettan los with the occasional seasonal or special edition when i can afford it. Getsnus works perfectly for me. I tried so many different types before all of this PACT junk so I feel satisfied, I just feel bad for the people that are new to snus, and the difficulties they may have finding some really delicious variaties…and yes Northerner is an excellent site to order from!!

T

American snus is highly flavored and super sweet, Scandinavian snus is more sublte, seasoned in flavor, and not highly sweet, most are not sweet at all, and when one is, it’s very subtle. It’s more salty than sweet. And stronger than US snus too.

M

I did find a site that ships snus from Sweden so you can get whatever varieties you can’t normally get, like skruf and what-not, but it costs twice as much to ship, upwards of $30. Ouch.

B

oh really matsnuffs would you mind shareing might be worth blowing fun money on a few varieties I occasionaly miss but certainly can live without.

X

I think AllanH said it up there ^^. I will miss Skruf when my supply runs out, too.

J

I use snuscentral you can get stuff called randomn cans I usually get a roll of portion randomn cans and portion/loose random cans, then I get whatever is on special or I “need” like nick and johnny, general onyx, ettan loose, and um I forget because I mostly use jakobson’s wg.

S

I have been taking snus for most of this week and enjoying it greatly. I need to hold back! Lovely stuff.

B

I much prefer los, portions are far too salty for me and tear my gum to bits. Baking a pris (forming a portion by hand) only takes a few attempts to get down, and is far comfier. Ettan is great as is offroad frosted and thunder frosted.

B

SnusCentral is my choice. Even adding shipping they are still cheaper than Northerner US. Buysnus is pretty good also, but not quite as cheap. My last order averaged $3.20 per can. Of course I bought a huge quantity so that lowered my average a bit.

S

I just got 7 tins of Skruf portions delivered for £14 through an auction on the SnusOn site.

G

I just tried SNUS for the very first time tonight. Some Swedish guys gave me one. It was a portion (in the little white bag) of “General” - I couldn’t get the specifics on flavor, type etc. due to a few language issues. He said it was “very strong nicotine.” I didn’t like it at all. It was very spicy/peppery/salty/something funky, which I might like in food but not really in tobacco. It was uncomfortable/rough against my lip/gum - it didn’t feel like there was sufficient space there, I felt very self conscious about it in my lip. It felt dry. After some time I found it irritated my throat. I didn’t get any particular satisfaction from it - I ended up spitting it out after about 15-20 minutes and having a smoke. I was a little disappointed. I suspect I would prefer minty ones, although I DO love bergamot and citrus too.

N

@Geraldo: If you feel inclined to try again, Thunder Frosted is minty as all get out. Skruf Sterk has great flavour (rose, bergamot) too.

M

I think it was snus central. Edit: it was, and you can get the mystery bags too. But the shipping is double.

S

@Geraldo: i have some General and it might be me but my Skruf Stark portion seems to fit in my upper lip better. By the sound of it you had a plain flavour - which for me is fine. I love the nicotine hit from Snus but doing it too often is not so good for your gums which is when i use nasal snuff or have a cigar. I didn’t like it the first time i tried it…

G

@Sleepwalker @NelsonPipeClub Thanks for the advice and the encouragement!

F

I have to disagree on the portion/los flavor…I get a much more pure flavor from los. Portions tend to send that occasional flood of flavor which irritates my throat. Los flavor stays more consistent, and true to the snus flavor. I also don’t get the gum irritation from los that I get from the portion material, but everyone has their own tastes…just my .02!

B

@Geraldo try loose as it is much milder and less salty. Offroad or Thunder frosted is a good choice as NelsonPipeClub says.

F

Also General Extra Sterk loose…high in nicotine, but the taste is not severely harsh IMHO. Just make sure that you at least add a prismaster to your order…hand baking a pris takes a while to master, and these are very cheap and work fairly well.

S

Man, i love this stuff.

G

@FischTix I agree with your assessment of GES los. Also with your suggestion of the prismaster. The prismaster can be made to make a smaller pris back removing the plunger part and turning it around to make a shorter pris.

F

@Gimpy1261 10-4 on that…that works really well…helps to build your lip up to hold a larger pris.

L

The Prismaster is worthless. Spend a few extra bucks on an 4ml Icetool. The stainless ones seem to stay lubricated better. They deliver a perfect pris every time and you can measure out snus to your specific needs.

E

Snus FTW… My technique is to take a nice pinch of snuff then pop in a portion or pris. The snuff gives the quick rush then once it starts tapering off the Snus starts kicking in. One of my favorite combos now is F&T HDT and Ettan los

T

@Geraldo I hated snus when I first tried it, I hated all oral tobacco at first. I think it’s something once has to get used to, and then one can grow to like it, but, if you don’t use oral tobacco, I highly recommend not to start, unless you want to switch to it from smoking, because it’s very hard to quit, once started.

F

I second Tom502’s comment. The easiest way to quit oral tobacco is to go back to smoking, and even that’s hard!!

J

I order Swedish snus from swedish-snus.com. Apparently it is basically the same as Northerner (everything ships from PA, same website design, bonus pts, etc). They have prompt shipping (~3-5 days), and every time you buy something you get bonus points that can be used to get free snus later (you earn ~10pts for buying a can, ~110pts on roll, etc. A free roll costs 1000pts). The only problem is $12 shipping because of PACT (if you live in the USA). I don’t know how it would elsewhere, though. I _love_ Swedish snus, both portion and lös. My favorite varieties are citrus/herb types like general original/onyx, lab series 02, and göteborgs rapé (juniper, quite nice). Far better than the US imitations which tend to be very sweet, dry, and lacking in nicotine. I use both snus and snuff throughout the day, but never at the same time. If I wanted more nicotine I’d take a bigger pinch or use a stronger portion. Snuff kicks in faster. Snus comes on slower but lasts longer. The one I use at that time of the day depends mostly on my mood. I tend to use them about equally overall, although I am favoring snuff a bit more lately.

N

@Geraldo I noticed you mentioned that the portion felt uncomfortable in your lip, you should try a mini portion. When I use a mini portion I tend to forget that its even in there.
