My PC’s mouse died a couple of days ago. The autopsy showed a lot of tobacco related dust in it’s entrails. I was warned by the pc doctor to look after my new mouse (which has got no tail), otherwise I will be charged with cruelty to animals. Just thought I must share this with all our members. PS This mouse without a tail, should it be called a Fox Terrier Mouse?
Poor mouse I guess snuff is harmful after all.
I’ve had to clean mine a lot over the years. You might want to get one of the newer types without the moving parts. They have a LED light inside instead of a ball.
I’m sure my keyboard would probably yield about a month’s supply off snuff, but my mouse (tailless) stays away from the spill zone. An advantage to using a bullet instead of pinching I suppose.
Its probably from dirty fingers rather than spills I would think. I’m sure my keyboard is full too. Its amazing the keys work! My ‘C’ used to stick, but I haven’t had trouble with it since I began taking snuff! When I remember, I slide in the keyboard drawer to take a pinch.
not a Manx Mouse? (no tail)
I too have a wireless Laser mouse, I lost the old one years ago.
My mouse must be 11 years old. I have one of those mini laser wireless ones for travel, but I refuse to replace my desktop one until it dies.
I would replace it before it dies, Xander. That way you have a working backup. I still have the original corded mouse from my very first Dell. The thing is probably like 20 years old, but barely used. It’s saved my arse more than once when I’ve run out of batteries or my “new” mouse just quits working.
the laser one is the backup. My desktop is my laptop in a docking port. I just kept all the peripherals from the previous 1998 Dell. They all work fine!
@ snuff head: is that a manx cat that ate your old mouse?
I see, same idea , just in reverse. I recently discovered my mouse has two buttons on the side, near where my thumb goes. They are back and forward. I’ve had this mouse for years and never tried them! I mention it because so far I’ve told three people, they had the same buttons but didn’t know what they were for. Makes using this forum much easier, imo.
@ Xander; No not a Manx, he has a tail. Well I know it isn’t seen in the picture. He’s an English Tabby and sometimes comes by the name of Tiger. Dogs come when they are told, cats take a message and get back to you!
My mouse, cat, wife and keyboard all have a fine dusting of snuff on them, surely this is good for them,?
If the wife doesn’t object; then it’s surely good for snuffster.
Can someone please tell me what the little buttons on the left side of the new mouse are for? Otherwise I will have to read the manual.
Pieter, read comment #11 by miamimark, see if that’s what you have
Thanks Xander, this is splendid. Same as clicking on the blue arrows top left of screen.
Thanks Xander??? OK, I admit, I didn’t word it very clearly…
Thank you miamimark, you’ve put me right on the spot!! The reason why I thanked Xander was because he directed me to your post. So, thank you once more, gentlemen, for helping an old man, you will be blessed!!!
I was only Joking around Pieter! I usually learn things about the computer by accident that become very useful. I like to share them because I’ve learned others probably don’t know either. If one person on this forum finds this info useful, I am pleased!
