OT - Just had an idea

I was thinking about the swag and promotional items I used to get from Buysnus and Northerner, and I realised there was something snuff-related I’d be interested in. I’d love to see some sets of branded barware pop up. I’d be completely game with a set of Toque shot glasses, Wilsons Of Sharrow pint glasses, or a Bernards stein for when I feel like hanging out and having a few lagers with my schmalzler. Based on responsiveness to requests, I’d have to guess if anyone would do such a thing, it’d be Roderick, but I don’t know if it would be allowed any more. I know that tobacco companies got banned from doing rewards systems like Marlboro miles, where you can redeem points you get by purchasing tobacco for things like tents and jackets, but does anyone know if they’re just allowed to sell branded items? Or has that been wiped out too? I really want a Pewter or stone stein now with either the monk of the klostermischung package or the the random guy taking snuff from the Brasil doppelt-fermentiert labels on it now… May have to see about getting a blank stone stein and painting it on myself now.

How about a Suffhouse t-shirt with logo? In olive green? I know Alex our founder offered them before my time here. Beer steins would be cool. Have you checked the Stamheimer website? They had some that even had some divets in the handle for your snuff.

Stamheimer site? I did come across this: http://shop.schmalzlerfranzl.de/index.php?SESSCSDD=CSr62ibkygDAD9eX\_41451 I would like to grab one of those, though between the site not giving an option to ship outside Germany, and the €50 price tag, I may have to restrain myself.

Well, there’s the Toque merchandise which seems to be slowly expanding; there was talk of an embossed snuff box at one time, but I think the order needed to be in the thousands so that scuttled it. If you look at the European McChrystals fan site there are various McC. branded merchandise, including T-shirts (I think the site is called something like ‘Breeze’) I’m not sure if the Snuffhouse t-shirts ever got beyond a discussion. Also, the ‘Bernards’ site carries various things, including Steins. There are no UK regulations that stop branded tobacco merchandise; they just can’t be offered as an incentive to buy the product at point of sale or on the packaging. EDIT: a quick Google seems to suggest the McC. site is defunct.

Current US law will not allow any tobacco company branded merchandise to be sold/given away in the US. The snus companies won’t even allow us to buy branded stuff from Europe. The days of tobacco swag are over. Unless you get a friend to mail you some from outside the US.

@bigmick but what about all the Camel jackets and shirts and whatnot you always see in the U.S.? Is this a recent developement?

Yes. The law was effective last summer. All the Camel etc. stuff you see is old purchases. It seems the politicians were afraid seeing a Camel logo on a shirt would induce 5 year olds to smoke. Pot leaves, vaguely pornographic rock band shirts and 2,000 packs of Camels/Marlboros on store shelves have no effect… but tobacco ads on a person walking through the park is verboten. morons.

@bigmick I see thanks for that. No wonder it always looks worn out and old  Damn they love to play God…

“Damn they love to play God…” Sounds about right. Some things I want the government to protect me from. Protecting me from myself is my job not theirs.

I imagine it’d require buying from overseas, then. At least there are some countries we can still get stuff from.

Land of the free is a crock of sh… I genuinely get ANGRY when I think of how oppressed WE REALLY ARE. I mean, to think we actually have people looking down on us and controlling us? “No, you can’t put that in your OWN body. Everyone else is doing it. Here, take this pill…” It never ends it only gets worse. Tobacco! Okay I need to stop typing because I could go on and on and politics aren’t allowed so… and good riddance talking about saving me from myself! heh

lol good one and so true

Man I wanted that Marlboro fanny pack!! Now I’ll never get one.
