Because I made a few mistakes, I already bought a soap Dish and a little ashtray, which I thought would be snuff boxes… I thought this would be a nice topic. Maybe also to show others interested. I think the first is a tobacco box and would have to loose a lid for snuff, although I’d like to hear another opinion on that. I think the second IS a snuff box due to the longer hinge and the fact that it seems to fit snugly with the lid. A closer look would help but my opinion is that its a relatively safe buy. Don’t forget; you will never get the same impression as seeing it in real life.

@Micheltn Actually that’s a great find! Especially for $15…I love old wood snuff boxes and have bid on 3 almost identical to this one(lost all 3 bids btw dammit!) All 3 that I bid on ended up going for $30 or more, and these were on the low side. I’ve seen these boxes go for close to $100 depending on the extra details…mother of pearl inlay etc. Great find you lucky dog!!

nice. I don’t know why but I don’t want a snuff box unless it’s flip top. I’ve tricked myself into almost accepting other ones.
