This is slightly off-topic, tangential, and undoubtedly nerdy. I’m unaware of how many of you have seen the movie Inception, but I recommend it. There is an element within the story wherein the dream travelers (for lack of a better word; I don’t recall the term they use in the film) have a particular object they carry at all times called a “token” of which they know the precise characteristics - weight, feel, smell, etc. The purpose of this “token” is to allow the dreamer to determine, by manipulating his/her “token” as a test, whether it is a dream or reality and whether it is their dream or someone else’s dream. Clearly this object must be something with which the individual is intimately familiar. During the part of the movie wherein this “token” concept is discussed, I happened to be sitting in the theater, using my (now-deceased) Posh bullet and thought that if I were such a traveler, my Posh would be my token. Now, I suppose my PC box would be it. In the dream, I would know the weight and feel, size, etc and perhaps even what snuff was in it! (Although, being a world of endless possiblities, I think I might invent snuffs in the dream world, so that might not be a good test…) How many of you have seen it and would say the same? Just a thought. Db
I thought it was a pretty interesting concept. The movie moved kind of fast so if you weren’t really paying attention then you wouldn’t know what was going on. The idea reminds me of the anime movie ‘Paprika’, which has a very similar theme involving entering dreams through technology. I thought the token was a cool idea too and yeah…a bullet would be a good one but a snuff box might be too big ? LoL , who knows, but yeah the movie is worth a watch.
I loved Inception. A good idea and I could see where a Posch bullet would be a good one to use. I personally would use my pipe tamper. I love my snuff but honestly look forward to my evening pipe alot more… perhaps because I use snuff several times thoughout the day where as my pipe is only once or twice a day.
paprika is awesome so is everything from the same director.
Yeah, Paprika is awesome. Most american animation seems so generic in comparison. I haven’t seen the directors other movies but I did a quick search and they look interesting. Will definitely have to check them out. I see he’s making a movie called the Dreaming Machine, scheduled for this year. A sequel, or a totally different story? Not sure but judging by the name it may be similar.
Actualy he’s kind of dead. So Dreaming Machine is I think going to be finished but… All his stuff is kind of similar in that there is always a reality unreality cross over happening in all of them.
