Last night was possibly one of the best nights of my life. As some of you know I support the world’s oldest football club, Sheffield FC. Well last night we were playing in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup replay at Frickley Athletic. What a night! In the first match on Saturday we were leading 1-0 until the 93rd minute when they equalised to take it to a replay. Last night we did the same thing. We were 1-0 down after about 20 minutes then equalised just before half time, then we scored the winner in the 90-odd minute after, where the referee had found 4 minutes injury time from somewhere. Andy Gascoigne got both goals. The best part about all this though is in the 4th and last qualifying round we have one of the two lowest ranked teams left in the competition. Tipton Town FC from the Midland Football Alliance and Radcliffe Olympic from the East Midlands Counties League, they play their replay tonight. We play them at home on the 23rd of the month, and if we get through to the first round proper (the stage where the two lowest leagues of the Football League, (professional clubs), join in), it will be the first time sine the 1879-80 season we have done this, so if/when we make it look out for us on the telly lol. A night I’ll never forget and one where the tension was unbearable, all I know is its going to take about a week for the smile to dissapear from my face. Bloody brilliant! For match reports and more details about the club and our cup run go to either www.behindtheflag.co.uk or www.sheffieldfc.com. Stefan
Although I support QPR, one thing I really like about Sheffield FC is that apparently you can buy Henderson’s Relish in their team shop.
You can’t buy it but they do have it at the snack bar to put on your pies etc. Henderson’s is bloody lovely. Stefan
glad to see you have your priorities in order.
