I am an Australian buyer of snuff and my recent order from Mr Snuff is taking longer to even leave Europe let alone arrive to me. In fact I had an order from Toque Snuff Shop that I made two days after my Mr Snuff order and it arrived last week. Yet, as I said, my Mr Snuff order is yet to even leave Europe. This is obviously not the fault of Mr Snuff, but what is happening to the postal service in Europe at the moment, especially things being posted to Australia.
Hi @ausDave
Sorry about your parcel.
We have noticed that DHL tracking stops between EU and Australia. This is something we will be bringing up with our agent to see if we can improve the service.
We are also seeing an uptick in customs seizures. Australian customs are particularly aggressive, they wont return parcels and they often don’t inform us. Again, this is something we will be reviewing to see if we can get better tracking to keep people informed.
As an aside, do you know what service Toque used to successfully deliver your parcel?
Thanks
Thanks Jonny, From my experience, as I have made many orders with you, and a few with your new posting arrangements, and with Australia Post tracking, I always without exception get an update once a parcel arrives in Australia. Do I do not believe it is here yet. When it comes to Customs, I have only been gotten charges from them once regarding an order from Mr Snuff, sadly I have gotten the charges a few times with the orders I make with the Toque shop, but not lately. I actually pay the taxes, firstly, because I am too impatient and do not want to wait for a new order, and secondly, even though the tobacco taxes here in Australia are the highest in the world, I feel that given how many packages I get through I spread that out over all the snuff I buy, and it is not so bad.
I have an order that I made on July 14th and I’m guessing it is the new normal that it will take some time for the snuff elves to fill my order.
Patiently waiting
I have made many order from Mr Snuff, and your orders always arrive, occasionally I get hit with the mind bogglingly high Australian taxes that we have on tobacco. I just pay the taxes, because the way I see it, only about 1 in 10 of orders from you get hit with the taxes, so if I spread that cost out over it all, I can handle it.
As for Toque, I think they use regular UK Royal Mail. Whilst their orders leave Europe much quicker, and make it to Australia quicker, there is one major difference. As I said your parcels seem to get caught with Customs charges about 1 in 10 times (originally they would never get them), however poor old Toque has it completely the other way around! Parcels from Toque get hit with the massive Customs charges 9 times out of 10! I cannot account for this difference, even when you sent via The Royal Mail yours never had this problem. I cannot imagine that Australian Customs is deliberately picking on Toque, but cannot explain why this happens.
