This post can be for interesting snuff and snuff related items found for sale online.
Never heard of this. They appear to be unopened. Pictures below. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F163970046780
Interesting find! Unseen type of round plastic dispenser, too.
Judging from the carton design and zero search results, seems like a product of past millennium.
Not that anyone is questioning the legality of selling or that I care but people can sometimes get around selling alcohol and tobacco without a license or whatever based on selling the packaging not the contents, for items of some age. I often buy alcohol at estate sales under this guise.

I just picked these up off eBay - J & H Wilson I think from my limited research, but the age is a bit hard to determine. My guess is they are from the 1970s. They are still sealed and I am keen to try them when they arrive. Hope they are in good condition inside!
@Snuffick awesome score! I also hope the contents are good. Keep us updated please.
@Volunge thanks. Those containers are causing an itch in the back of my brain, like I’ve seen them in passing before.
This thread rules @rostanf
@ar47 thanks!
@Snuffick I think what you have may be more interesting historically than J & H wilsons and possibly older than the 70’s . I believe they came from Carroll’s of Dunkalk, Ireland’s oldest tobacco maufacturer. Here are some links that reinforce my belief. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll’s Carroll’s is mentioned on page 12 onward in this link and it confirms they did produce snuff. https://www.jstor.org/stable/24341016?read-now=1&seq=12#page\_scan\_tab\_contents Finally this picture shows a few products with the Carroll’s name, one linking them to Ireland and the company bearing that name. Great score again. Thanks for sharing.
Smith’s snuff lot. https://www.ebay.com/i/312694537556
@rostanf thanks for this great info. It makes me keener to try it and look more carefully at the age. I will keep the thread updated with some more photos when they arrive.
My pleasure. I thoroughly enjoy the hunt.
@rostanf: I almost bought those Smiths snuffs! How are they? And the Italian snuff in green paper, I have one of those, 1938! Not much scent, but a good one. I rescented it with cloves and vanilla and it’s very good. I look on eBay every week for vintage snuffs and have gotten a few great ones, and a few rusty tasting crappy ones. It’s hit or miss.
@mrmanos my bad! I should have included in my first comment that any thing I post here is up for grabs by anyone at the time of posting. These aren’t things I’ve purchased, just interesting stuff I find online. It’s amazing to me that snuff from 1938 is still good today.
@mrmanos that 1938 give you satisfaction? Curious how (and optimistic that, as long as not molded/spoiled) the effects hold up over that much time
Has anybody ever seen or even tried this Poschl Radford CC (Red Cherry)?
Used to be available on https://snuskingdom.ch/english/snus-kingdom/schnupftabak/radford-blue-english-menthol-6-dosen-1177.html . That’s an “oops” link, this ghost is long gone, and probably for good. And yes, I was looking for something special ;).
In 2016 Poschl presented this snuff at Dortmund-hosted InterTabac Fair. https://dutchpipesmoker.com/tag/samuel-gawith/page/2/ (no mention of the snuff in the blog, but the tin is captured in the picture of Poschl stand, you can find it in the gallery beneath the reportage).
