One good hole...

So, ive managed to keep the snuff in the front of my nose for the most part, but only on the left side of my nose, when i take a pinch on the right, no matter how hard i try it rockets down my throat into my lungs. Im pretty sure its hitting my lungs cuz it makes me cough like crazy, anyone else have this issue? Am i gona have to just stick to the one side?

That’s happened to me for periods of time, but has since got better… Could be just the condition of your sinuses at that particular time? Never give up, never surrender.

Try not holding the left side closed

@Scurvy i just looked up my nose with a flashlight, the left side seems almost swollen towards the back, right side seems wide open. Maybe that has something to do with it, hell i may have the same issue on the left if the swelling is a temporary thing, i dont think it a sinus problem like infection or anything… is this a septum problem maybe? Like a deviation?

@basement_shaman … i dont hold either side closed … should i try plugin the left side as i sniff?

Na just use a medicated snuff on the left.and hold the snuff farther away on the right side

I could have been irritated by picking or dust or allergens. If you had a deviated septum, that would mean that the center of your nose was crooked. You could try lightly pushing on the right side of your nose to narrow the airway…

Ok thanks for the info guys!! Ill get the hang of this yet!! :-bd

It could be about angles. Assuming you are pinching with your right hand, the hand will have to contort somewhat in order to release the snuff at the same angle that was comfortable for the left side. Also being mindful that the nostrils themselves are angled. For me I have to contort my hand a bit for the left nostril. Also deviated septum are rather common, at least slightly so. Rare is the person with a perfectly symmetrical face. Thirdly, one or the other nostril often are slightly blocked. Its rare for both to be completely open. Its not something one notices unless they’re a snuff-taker. For me my left side is usually more open than the right, but occasionally it flip-flops. Just par for the course stuff, that we learn how to manage. Try to remember when you were learning to walk. It probably took months before the balance and coordination developed.

Was just saying to myself, ‘where have i heard this before’ …think it was in a Hellraiser movie >:)

it’s true it didn’t take long to learn the use pot holders when cooking lesson. Or the don’t sit on the wood stove.

@bob lmao

seriousily though I don’t think worrying too much bout technique will help a lot. Just snuffing till it’s comfortable should work well, your discomfort should help you naturally go towards the best technique.

@bob Agreed. When I first started I was looking for a single method that would encompass my entire snuff experience. Now I have different methods that I use depending on the snuff. After a while you don’t even think about it. Just by looking at the grind/moisture you automatically switch into whichever gear you need. Unless it’s WIllie Pete. That stuff is its own special beast.
