St. Andrews Honduran Ligero filler leaf, Rare Light Fired Virginia Orinoco, a few leaves of Kentucky Dark Fired Burley, Flue Cured Red Virginia and Dark Air Cured Tennessee Burley cased with 12 Year Old Lowland Malt Whisky, a nice portion of Islay Malt Whisky and amber malt syrup, pressed, fermented and aged between layers of cowhide, toasted Tennessee Rock Maple planks and slabs of Himalayan Pink Salt, then wrapped tightly in the hide, tied with leather boot laces and hung in a dark, cool closet down in the basement. It will be milled to a medium grind before being cask conditioned in a toasted oak barrel, creating a moist, salty, unscented snuff with natural notes of smoke, peat, dark chocolate, leather and oak. Served up in maple lined amber glass jars suitable for long term aging. This is shaping up to be a strong snuff & likely not suitable for beginners. Update March 19, 2015: I just unwrapped, tossed the leaf and repeated the rolling in the cowhide. This is shaping up nicely, and the color is gaining a deep brown with a distinct smoky, malty and whisky aroma with big notes of leather. I anticipate an early fall/late summer release.
How will this one be different in outcome from Marlin Spike? A different blend of tobaccos and a different whiskey, yes…but will the differences be subtle or significant. And, were the bootlace ties new…or old and well used? Inquiring minds, etc. lol

The biggest difference is the leather, followed by the tobacco bill. As you pointed out the whisky is different so this one will be smokier and have a little peat scent. The boot laces were new, cut from undyed latigo. From this stage it appears the differences with be moderate, but you’re spot on in your estimation that they are very similar. I’m looking for St. Andrews to be Marlin Spike’s smokier, darker sibling;definitely in the same gene pool. Great comment! Thank you @Blackhorse
Ah…Friends Across the Water? Wisely, I chose “the Spike” as one of three blends is my first order. Surprisingly, my tasting experience exactly mirrored the ‘official’ description of the flavors. On another note, I’d like to stuff the suggestion box with a request for a snuff homage to the US Pacific Northwest…Portland in particular. Maybe something with notes of coffee, rose and smoked salmon? Oh my.
@Blackhorse I’ve got some alder planks I use for aging leaf. Will that work? I’d rather do a “Sunriver” snuff…a snuff called “Bend” might give the wrong impression. Maybe “Deschutes”?
Sure…“Deschutes” sounds just like someone sneezing. But for up in the high desert the flavors should be more Sage, Juniper and jerked venison.
@Blackhorse Great minds think alike. So do sick minds evidently. :))
I consider both to be required for a life fulfilled.
=))

Ditto that for up north of Seattle.
