ok folks, question, what snuff is this levi garret rappee stuff like?

what is the texture? scent? fermented smell, or reg. american snuff smell? i am very intriged by this snuff and would like as much info or opinions on it as possible? is it designed to be used orally with the finger dip or is it a traditional rappee type of english snuff? is it easy to find in a fresh condition, if so where? one more, there wouldnt be anyone out there in the US who may be interested in hooking me up with a sample, would there? or swap a bit for a sample of something i may have? thanks much all, tim

Dry, dark and strong. Has similar notes picked up with most scotch snuffs with a deeper fermentation. A little more complex. Like Marmite, you love it or hate it. Every American snuff was produced to be taken orally and this is no different. But with all the American snuffs they work well in the nose. You can find here at Lil Brown Smoke Shop The most popular brand of loose-leaf smokeless tobacco, Levi Garrett, also had the highest levels of free-base nicotine compared to all other loose-leaf chews. If this tells you anything about how the snuff might be.

Try moisturizing a small quantity of it and let it rest sealed up for a couple of days before taking it.

Yes, looks the way it should. A little on the light side but that could be from the flash or light? There are certain snuffs that take practice & patience. This is one. You can try what snuffgrinder recommended. The more moisture that is in the snuff, the heavier it is which makes it easier to snuff. If you do add moisture to some, you get used to that then work your way down to dry. You just have to learn the little tricks and find the technique that works for you! Happy Snuffing

it looks totaly differnt then i expected… i figured it would be alot darker like rooster and alot coarser like f&TS bordeax or gletchers prise. it looks just like the other light US scotch snuffs. thanks for the pic’s… is his picks how it is supposed too look???

First, welcome to this great forum jage2, I hope you enjoy it here and stay awhile. Levi was originally made for nasal use back in the 1700’s then people started dipping the powdered tobacco & now its for both. And even though a big chunk of people using this type do take it orally, that doesn’t mean that its for oral use only. The use of nasal snuff in the U.S really died off from where it was & so companies started pushing their products as oral tobacco. It is a great snuff and one of my favorites. If your looking for a good place to buy from, I would suggest Mars Cigars Good selection, good prices & fast shipping. I’m assuming your in the States? As a new snuffer starting off with Levi, How was your experience? This is a pretty advanced snuff to start with (as far as being fine, dry and stout).

Most people who dip this type of snuff just rub it on their gums. Some use a twig with one end chewed on so its soft. Then they will dip it in the snuff and put between the cheek and gums and suck on it for awhile. Others might lick their finger, dip it in and then rub on gums. And there are some who will put some in the lid, pull lip back and pour it in. I have tried all the Toque products and I would recommend that you do try them. They are a good snuff. There are a lot of snuffs out there. Some for everyone. Dry fine ones, dry coarse ones, semi-moist & moist ones, plain, light & heavy scented, mentholated. Give them all a try until you find the types you like. One of the best parts is the price, they are fairly cheap, well unless you buy the big tumbler of Levi but when you consider how long it will last it is still cheap. And if you have any questions about any snuff or snuff type, don’t hesitate to ask!

Welcome to the forum Jage2, hope you stick around and participate. I’m new to these parts as well. After about a month of snuffing, I’m up to 17 different types/flavors, lmao. I hate being a shopoholic compulsive buyer. I probably have enough snuff to last me a year.

@ Chas Most definatly, I’m down from a pack a day to 5 a day, and I don’t really need those, but they appeal to me again, instead of just being an addiction fix. I also relax and enjoy those few instead of just huffing them down. Snuffing is so much cheaper, and pleasurable.

Buying all sorts of different snuffs is the only way you can find exactly what kind of snuffs you like.

snuffing has helped me go from about 40 rollies a day to 1-3 a day and i like it a lot better than freezing my ass of out side
