Oil and grease in UK snuffs

I read somewhere, likely here but I cannot find it, that due to old laws still on the books in UK the use of oil, grease, paraffin is not an allowed ingredient in snuff products. I haven’t been able to find any information on this. Also, does this restrict import into UK (snuffs that have the ingredient)?

It’s still not allowed in the UK. It doesn’t effects imports, otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to buy Poschl or Swedish Match nasal snuffs since they nearly all contain some kind of added oil.

This is why Pöschl makes Gawith (Hoggath’s) Apricot and Cola.

Interesting info, I was just wondering today how come Poschl’s apricot is called Gawith. I wonder how that collaboration works?

Much appreciated.

Gawith (Hoggarth) is no longer in business as far as I know.

Well I just recently got a fresh pack of Kendal Cinnamon? Is it made by Poschl as well?

Gawith Hoggarth is still producing both snuff and pipe tobaccos in Kendal Cumbria last I checked. Don’t give me a heart attack.

@nunoH: Just a business contract, as far as I know. One company owns the recipe, one company makes and distributes it. Who knows how they divide the profit. That’s their own secret. @snuffgrinder: I’m talking about these guys: http://www.gawithhoggarth.co.uk/
