I’ve noticed that I will try to save my pinching fingers from getting too soiled by grabbing things (public door handles, shopping carts, etc.) with only my last three fingers. I’m a pretty fastidious hand washer anyway, but anything to keep them germies away… Has anyone else developed any strange mannerisms as a result of their snuff taking?
Only grown a long pinky nail to get those tough nose gobbling loose. Not concerned about germs the more I am exposed the less effect they have on me.
I haven’t been really sick in years. I’m pretty sure that I get a ridiculous dose of cooties every day at work, so by now, I should be invincible. Still… I spend a lot of time in the midst of some really disgusting stuff, and I’d rather not think about that on my hands and in my nose and mouth. :-&
@Scurvy I won’t take my most prized snuffs out into the world. For instance I won’t take my toque Rose outside with me because I don’t want to lose even a spec of it. Instead I will use violet because even though I love it, it’s not the same as rose. I just have this weird paranoia that I will drop the whole tin on the ground or some other fatalistic event may transpire. At first this kind of weird hoarding behavior bugged me but I guess it still beats smoking.
Just read a study that people with sinus infections have fewer varieties of bacteria in their nasal passages; apparently the infectious types are held at bay by the benign ones… I wonder if tobacco hosts the lactobacillus that keeps things happy. Someone on this list mentioned that their sinus problems got worse when they laid off snuff for a while and then improved when they started snuffing again.
Wow, interesting @Mouse! I’ve certainly noticed less of a bother from allergies. I guess nothing can get in to irritate my nose when it’s caked with brown gunk.
as for OCD, I check my pockets 2-3 times to make sure i have a tin and a hankie in my pocket whenever i leave the house…close as I get
Bad Habits? Hmmm… Does buying snuff in large quantities count?
I’ve found I have to take my contact lenses out with my off hand and pinky finger, or magical pain assails my eyes.
@asherael - oh man, wow, I’ve been wearing my glasses and not contacts for several years now - just got a new prescription for contacts - I’ll have to keep that in mind @-)
