Northerner issue

S

I was browsing the Northerner today, and they’ve already begun implementing PACT requirements. Some people are being charged taxes already, but more importantly for us here, their selection of nasal snuff has been limited to Pöschl snuffs for those in the US. I thought this was supposed to be the last bastion for legit Toque purchases, what happened? Anyone have any clue what’s going on?

R

They are no longer shipping Skruff in the US

D

You are just clicking the wrong link. The us links are for us made brands. Scroll down on the left menu for the full list of snuff brands. Ken

R

No he’s right, the Toque menu is empty.

B

I’m afraid rdunnion is right. They are only selling brands that have submitted the required info to the FDA. That excludes both Skruff and any desirable snuff. I just tried checking out with a snuff order and it wouldn’t let me enter the payment info. Hopefully some of the snuff makers will realize the situation and try to comply with the FDA bullshit.

M

I thought Roderick said that Toque’s acceptance by the FDA was still pending, if so there’s the problem.

B

Like I said before, Just because Roderick registered with the FDA doesn’t mean he was approved… as of yet

L

This site is out of stock of too many items. Not only snuff. But indeed, if i lie i’m in US all snuffs disappear, but Poschl snuffs selection grows much bigger. I suppose they have registered before Toque and were approved earlier. If its about quality, i’m sure Toque will be approved too. It just takes time. I sell light bulbs but have to come thru similar things.

B

it’s about what it’s made out of including what chemicals or flavors are added to it. I’am sure these things take time is all.

B

There is more missing then toque at the moment. In fact it seems like a lot of the things that may be available in the u.s. are specificly the things that are acting wonky right now.

D

WHen I view this page: http://www.northerner.com/en/snus/Northerner\\_Toque\\_Snuff-347/ I see plenty of snuff to order Ken

C

I noticed the other day it was just Poschl when I hit US snuff. Dammit, I can get Poschl semi-locally from my sister now!

P

I see it there, but when I go to checkout, the snuff is automatically removed from the cart due to no shipping options. Do you live in the US Ken? Pat

B

A lot of snuff to order as long as you don’t live in the land of the free. When you select your location in the checkout page, the payment info only appears for countries other than the U.S.

D

I didn’t go that far. OK hmm. Canada is sounding better these days. Or maybe Australia. We ought to just expand the trade area to a virtual online swap meet. I can get scotches here. Ken

B

Good to know, Ken. U.S. scotches are completely unknown in the Bay Area. I am stocked for a while but you never know. Luckily, my family lives in Spain and I am planning on ordering the eurosnuffs from them.

B

I meant though them. They are not in the snuff business just yet.

C

The only Americans I can get are the WE Garrett Sweet and the Scotch, and it’s a 50 mile drive to get those.

C

So, I noticed pipe tobacco isn’t on the PACT list. I suppose snuff could be smoked, with a fine screen and a really hot lighter…

P

I still like the idea of rolling a 10 pack of 10g tins in a tobacco leaf and calling it a cigar

C

Who says a cigar can’t be RYO? Just put some blunt wraps in the package…

S

Actually I heard that some people have been known to use nasal snuff sprinkled on their pipe tobacco to enhance the flavor. I tried it and it tasted horrible.

J

Snuff smokes well from a bong. But I wouldn’t use that fancy shmancy flavored stuff some of you snuff.

B

Here in N.E. Florida, I can pretty much get most scotch locally. Six dollars and some change for a 1.15 oz can.

W

In Maryland $3.29 for a 1.15 can, $12.79 for the big can. Cheaper in West By God Virginia!

D

I am still exporing my area as to what is available locally. So far RR Mills plain and sweet as well as Navy I have found. Trying to find Honey bee. Also a local tabocconist who is more of a pipe specialist carries Gawaith Apriccot as well as some other bulks including from W&S. Ken

Northerner and Snus: I’m surprised and disappointed to see that “Wine & Dine” and “Oomph” snus were evidently not FDA approved. That’s really a let down since as far as snus is concerned I really liked those enough to seriously consider dropping all other snus and going to them exclusively. I can live with the limited number of mini whites that are available to Americans. At the same time I’ve been debating on trying to go just snuff solo, so it may not be an issue. Northerner and Snuff: I’ve never used Poschl products and unless I can ever get my hands on some of their schmalzers in decent packaging to try, I doubt I ever will. I am quietly remembering there is still one online holdout that should still be able to deliver other snuffs, but also preparing myself should be become necessary to just get into the mindset of being another ‘die hard loyalist’ to WE Scotch (its locally available and luckily its already a staple mainstay of my snuffing habits). After all, lots of people in the south are already fiercely loyal to just one scotch, even if they’re using orally, and a lot of us also used to be that way about our cigarette brands. The upswing is it would simplify life once/if I run out of my stash of nearly every snuff I ever wanted to try (I did manage to get them all with the exception of 5 Photo Raja #5). Again, if it comes really down to it, I’m also going to consider myself lucky that I ever even had the chance at all to try all these different snuffs and snus, and go from there.

As much as I love certain scotches, menthol is like a breath of fresh air.

If a snus is not available, it’s not that it was not approved by the FDA, it’s because the snus company did not register with the FDA at all, thus making them unavailable. But, this doesn’t mean they can’t do it at a later date. I suspect some companies are not in a hurry, and want to see how it all pans out first.

S

Also, from what I gather at SnusOn, the Wine & Dine and Oomph flavours aren’t terribly popular here. They have their diehards, but not many of them.

J

I thought the vin & kocksnus was awesome. The purified portion is a fantastic idea but the price would have to be cut in half to sell me on it. In my lip is Gotlands Yellow Los.
