Non-Tobacco Snuff

Hi people. Does anyone know if the non-tobacco snuff can cause blood pressure?

For the original ones like Snuffyweis - no. Its glucose/sugar based powder with some menthol in it is all. There are some non-tobacco snuffs with guaranha and the like in it nowadays though which could have an effect if you are susceptible to those things. This tends to be listed in the ads when this is the case; if in any doubt I would say check with your doctor.

I would like to ask about the WoS non-tobacco snuffs (sunset & ice lemon), I can’t take them, I don’t understand why they are sooo irritating for my throat, they are very fine powder and so you need to take them very carefully in order to not reach the throat, if this happens, it makes your throat very irritated (at least for me) for hours, can anybody explains me why this happens ? im even afraid to take it. Thanks

Maybe I’m overly skeptical, but why would someone even want to take non-tobacco snuff. Seems kind of pointless, I guess that’s why I have never bought a non-alcoholic beer either.

I’m assuming it’s cos poster has blood pressure warning, likes snuff, but is being told to steer clear of all things that raise BP. Many on here lke to think snuff is harmless, but that hit definitely hits BP, that is all part of the hit!

I guess some people want to try snuff and don’t want to expose themselves to nicotine. I have tried snuffy weiss non-tobacco snuff and my biggest complaint by far was the fact that some genius somewhere decided to make the powder white…any volunteers to sit in a public place sniffing a white powder up their nose? If you feel like getting arrested go right ahead!

Just have the container with you and start laughing! Then start talking like Tony Montana.

@tom502, I almost fell out of my seat laughing

I’ve taken the Wilsons None tobacco, its like bread flour, and it gets all-over. But had no problems with the law, or anyone. Sniffed it my own town, and sniffed it all around London.

There are non-tobacco snuffs which aren’t just fruit sugars and flavoring/scents. Dholakia makes an herbal snuff that I’ve read is very nice. I’m certain there are others, including a Chinese brand that again, I haven’t tried…but it’s coming from MS any day now. I’ve read about non-tobacco snuffs which contain guarana as mentioned, but there may also be some containing caffeine, which your doctor might not want you to have if you suffer from high blood pressure.

Non tobacco snuffs are great for people who want to enjoy the feeling of snuff but without nicotine. An ex-smoker friend of mine for example takes it because he doesn’t want to risk going back on the fags by taking real snuff. I do wonder why they don’t colour it dark brown - but then again, sniffing anything in public, whatever the colour, is likely to get suspicious looks these days. Perhaps it would be possible to dye it dark brown yourself using a food grade dye? Oddly enough, when I first bought snuff as a teenager, I expected it to be a white powder. I don’ t know why - I may have thought it was some kind of pure, ‘refined’ tobacco, or more likely just thought anything people snorted up their noses was white!

Coffee is very easy to snuff if you ever wanted a guaranteed pure non tobacco snuff. Dickens mentions it as a training aid to snuff in one of his books. I think if I wanted to snuff caffeine I would rather go with that. Take a pinch of good coffee and it’s absolutely burn/drip free.

God only knows what is that sugar powder good for…

Neutral and easy to sell in legal terms.

@Abraxas Fantastic idea, and who better to make a tobacco free snuff with a coffee bean base than @Snuffster! You are guaranteed to sell out right away if the shipment doesn’t get pirated. I’m so exited I’m going to make myself some. In fact I might try mixing some into my DWhite / renshen / guarana blend. Thanks for mentioning it again I’ve been slacking on my snuff making lately.

Interesting - I presume this is just ordinary coffee powder (not instant as that wasn’t around in Dickens’ day). The advantage of the white snuffs to me is that they give a good menthol blast without irritating the sinuses too much. Perhaps though if some eucalyptus oil were added to coffee, the effect would be the same? A sort of ‘coffee and after dinner mint’ concoction.

Ok. A better explanation: Dickens has a character being instructed by a footman that snuffing, as a habit to be aspired to, can be slowly developed by using coffee to practice on. Can’t remember the book but it’s in McCausland’s snuff book as an anecdote. Sam Weller is one of the characters I think. I tried it out on a couple of good instant coffee brands years ago and it is actually quite pleasant, although I do not make a habit of it. I am fairly sure that the next Abraxas will be Gaelic Coffee. There are hints of coffee in PB and Cerise, but I want an outright coffee lovers snuff in my line-up. I have no immediate plans for a non tobacco snuff; but who knows? I live to serve.

I like my coffee percolated so much better than drip. To answer the original question a beating heart causes blood pressure, has nothing to do about non-tobacco snuff

Sign me up for a coffee-heavy ABRAXAS whenever you might make it!

They’re great if you’re quitting nasally administered drugs and have developed a fixation. It’s like cigarette smokers quitting by sucking on lollypops.
