I suppose my thoughts are leaning towards nicotine replacement therapy. I suppose I’m just curious really. Are there any non-tobacco snuffs that have nicotine added to help people quit smoking without relying on tobacco? You know, these days you get e-cigarretes. Just wondering.

The weakness of NRT is that it only provides nicotine, which is only part of what tobacco gives. There are alkaloids that are part of the addiction chemistry and probably as important as the nicotine itself. NRT fails because of that, snuff on the other hand gives the full chemical spectrum that an addicted person needs. To answer your question: No. But they would be as ineffective at long term smoking cessation as gum or patches if they were made. Snuff is, by experience and by some serious medical opinion your best way of quitting other tobacco products. Check out the harm reduction stuff on Mr Snuff, or the archived stuff here.

@Xander - or de-hydrated water. Great stuff, just dry powder that takes up a fraction of the weight of water. To re-hydrate…just add water;)

There was a bit on the Benny Hill Show where someone had written “Don’t waste water- dilute it!”
