I will respond to this because until a few weeks ago I owned the site and the decision to remove Snuffstore was mine. The thing that everyone knows and loves as Snuffhouse has to run as a business to stay on the web. It cost me a great deal of money to buy, and further expenditure to maintain it. The online stores that advertise on Snuffhouse pay to do so, so that the costs are met by a group of interested parties, otherwise the owner of Snuffhouse would be personally paying to advertise their products and in respect of the members he would be financing their hobby. So, in a nutshell, the site pays for itself. I am not going to go into specifics about private business relationships but obviously if a banner from one of the stores suddenly disappears it can only be for one of two reasons: they have not paid their bill and refuse to do so or they do not feel that continued advertising on the site is worth their while. 

I don’t know the ins and outs of Toque’s withdrawal from the site, I assume Roderick felt it was no longer cost effective to advertise here.

Rather than insinuate that businesses are not paying their bills why not list the other possible reason that Toque has been removed? That reason would be that MrSnuff is removing the competition. That is the more likely scenario and what I predicted when the site was sold.

Jeez, talk about making a negative insinuation! Snuffstore was removed before Mr. Snuff bought the site. Mr. Snuff sells Toque and I think Dave and Roderick work together as opposed as working against each other. Whatever the reason I’m sure it’s not something so sinister…

@miamimark  That was no insinuation, that was as straight forward as I could be. MrSnuff wants to sell Toque but not have a direct link to the Toque website because that bypasses the middleman. Makes sense business wise but is still a shoddy practice.

Here’s how it is:

1.  Snuff Store’s removal has nothing to do with Mr. Snuff, it has to do with Snuff Store.  That situation transpired before Mr. Snuff took over ownership of the site.

2.  Toque’s banner removal has nothing to do with Mr. Snuff but Toque (as Roderick just said).  

3.  I am the site administrator and if there was some sinister evil plot by Mr. Snuff to snuff out (pun intended) the competition, I would blow the whistle.  I have an immense amount of respect for David (Mr. Snuff) he is a gracious fair person, the removal of Snuff Store was not about competition, it was about being fair.  If I don’t pay my phone bill should I still get the service: NO.  

There are details about payments and such that members are not privy to; nor should they be.  At the end of the day one must pay to put their name on this site.  David and I are in constant contact about the site operations including sponsor shops.  To date David has had NO influence on how the site is run, he tells me what banners to add or remove and that’s it.  I don’t deal with the funds, I deal with the site.  I don’t work for Mr. Snuff, I get no stipend for my activities on this site (same goes for all of the moderators).  Our services are voluntary, we all know that voluntary means free.  Mr. Snuff offers a great service to the snuff community, I dare say that most of us in the United States or anywhere outside of the UK would be up a creek without him, let’s keep that in mind.

I doubt you could find a more ethical businessman than Dave Anderson - to start cooking up some kind of malicious reason behind a business decision that has nothing whatsoever to do with any member here is absurd and only a clown would suggest it, or a troll or plant or whatever you are. Would removing the Toque banner really be some incredible advantage to him? Get real. The site doesn’t come free and decisions have to be made by those of us that actually finance it’s existence and by extension your cozy little hobby, but they don’t have to be listed beforehand for the approval of those that have an idiots understanding of the business world. 

and seriously peoples. Snuffers are such a small and dedicated group that if we support one brand we are going to support other brands too. Heck almost anyone could sell us snuff. If a new brand showed up on MRSnuff admit it you would try it with little information about it. So oddly supporting the compitition supports yourself too.

Interesting thread! Very interesting and well reasoned response. And I do appreciate the olive branch extended to those who feel slighted or disgruntled. Me, they just sent me a dead fish, the oldest tap boxes they could find,  and said to “chill”!

All kidding aside, these are natural changes and the preservation of the site should be the paramount concern! To all of those who created, bought, paid, sold, helped, volunteered, contributed, moderated…Kudos…!

Thanks @Roderick!  I don’t think I am the only one that is really excited for the new Almond flavor, as well as the others new flavors you are rolling out.
