I just had my ENT doctor cauterize my nose for my explosive, spontaneous nosebleeds and I can’t snuff for a week. Heck, I can’t even use saline for 3 days! She loves the idea of snuff as harm reduction (yeah, an ETN) but it has to be off the list. That and my nose could continue running or up to a week and no blowing for at least 3 days. Back to the cigs full-time I guess. Either that or dip. Aaaarrrrggghhh!!!
Oh No! What a bummer, that is not good. :-<
Ouch!! Sorry to hear that - I hope that you have a quick and relatively painless recovery! I wonder if dip/snus wouldn’t be less aggravating to the snoz than ciggies? Again, hope you feel better soon and I hope you don’t get too stopped up
@ladysnuff - love the new avatar - very ‘Cousin It’
@Willymac thanks, it is for Halloween, my impression of “cousin It” a member here suggested it may be amusing for my avatar. I willingly obliged @Dogwalla, I hope you recover quickly & painlessly
That’s deadly! Good luck there. Other tobacco products can give you shitloads of nicotine but nothing beats the pleasure of taking snuff.
Patch might help too but they’re expensive!
I think the dip will work out pretty good, I just don’t want to get back into that pack per day range. It’s not hard for me to go running back into the arms of my first love. Not really any pain with it afterwards that a couple of Advil can’t handle. This will mentally prepare me for when I have to get my septum fixed. That will stop snuffing or more than a week is my guess.
@Dogwalla … you really should give snus a chance in these instances. Anything to keep you away from cigs. That’s such a slippery slope for me … I caved in and thought I could have a golf weekend with the fellas and smoke … that turned into 10 - 11 days … and i was a bitch coming off of them. Snus can always take care of the fix when one can’t snuff. Either way, hope it all goes well for you.
You should take up the Pipe, its classy and better for you then cigarettes and less expensive until you get PAD. Then it can get out of hand
@snuffbrant The SNUS available in my area is kind of lame. The skoal snus is pretty good, but I’m not really into the rest of it. I wouldn’t mind if there was a way to get los, but that’s not going to happen soon if my guess is correct. @basement_shaman I may just have to do that. I forget sometimes it’s a pipe and pull in a lung full. I remember conversations on there about pipe smoking not being as dangerous as cigs, even if you inhale. I wonder why that is.
i understand that snus (Swedish snus) isn’t available at shops — though you may find General snus (maybe in loose) at many places stateside. There are many places online to order from though - snuscentral, buysnus, premiumsnus - i know the shipping can be prohibitive - but the safety and taste far surpass any dip, chew or US made snus - it really makes it worth it. I have had virtually all of them - and as a tobacco lover, nothing satisfies both my nic craving and my taste craving than a simple Ettan Portion snus. Still, if pipe works — more power to ya.
Hope your nose heals quickly and there are no more problems. I know the snuff is tempting but give it time. Good luck.
@Dogwalla, I know it wont help any, but I will do my part to take up the slack and do extra… Gotta keep the snuff gods happy right!!
They don’t add all the filler to pipe tobacco, and pipe tobacco is cured in a many different ways to bring out it’s full potental. Don’t smoke drug store tobacco or any of that sweet gooey stuff you will end up with a burn tongue and a clogged pipe. Corn cobs are inexpensive pipes to start with. missouri meerschaums are great smokers.Pipe tobacco has so much variety and it is very relaxing. If you must inhale dr.grabow has a moisture filter or you can get a 9mm filter pipe. And i not sure about the magic inch system but I think that filters also.Under $50 for a decent pipe. or on e-bay as low as http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carey-Pipe-Magic-Inch-Estate-Pipe-9-Sandblast-Finish-Made-N-Italy-Plus-9-Filters-/230867999500?pt=LH\_DefaultDomain\_0&hash=item35c0ce1b0c Get well soon
@willc I sure appreciate your sacrifice. @basement_shaman I’ll have to hit the (only) smoke shop and see what they have. I know they have tons of stuff, but I’ll have to check it all out. I have a clay warden that I smoke occasionally, but a pipe that’s longer than my forearm isn’t ideal for the car. Any suggestions on a nice, plan pipe tobacco? They have a pretty good selection so I might be able to get some good stuff. They even have MacBaren’s, which I love very, very much.
@Dogwalla Prince Albert is pretty plain and super cheap. I think it’s good for a plain “all day” smoke and wont break the bank.
Symphony ,Virginia No. 1,Honey & Chocolate are the only ones I tried. Not knowing his inventory I can’t suggest anything. Go to: what in your pipe thread, see what other pipers are smoking. My tastes lean towards the campfire smokey Latakia blends. I can do virginias straight or Va per .but i perfer flake or plug tobacco for the long burn. just ribbon cut burns too fast. I don’t like burley it is too sweet same with cavendish tobacco. Buy what you like! and smoking a bowl is not a race to the bottom , It kicking back and enjoying stolen moments.
I would recomend staying away from buring tobacco while recovering. If smoke can’t be good for a removed tooth… Once your recovered, ‘skin that smokewagon and see what happens’. I really give full praise to pipes, they are the most relaxing thing i can think of. As far a bacci goes, if your in the US- i started w/Prince Albert. Three years and 100’s of dollars latter- i end with Prince Albert. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of good stuff out there, it just wadding through the blazee that eats up the snuff funds.
“No snuff for a week”. That Sucks!! You probably shouldn’t come on this forum during the “week” as you will be one of “Them”(non-snuffing types). Only said in jest of course. Come on here so we can make you jealous : )
