nicotine-caffeine synergy?

Does anyone here notice a more pronounced hit from snuff if drinking coffee (or energy drink etc)?? They seem to me to act together to give a real energy boost (which is fantastic for me being a uni student with my head in books all day!)… The only studies ive found (not that ive looked hard) are ones related too better appetite suppression effects when the two are combined, which isnt very interesting :stuck_out_tongue: Ill have another search later.

I think there may be something in that. Just out of interests sake, and for wont of a coffee snuff that I really like, I mixed a bit of powder ground coffee bean into one of my snuff mixes today. (Seville, Carotte and HDT base.) I must say the results are quite pleasant in a small pinch. Coffee beans of course are used to clear the nose between sniffings at perfumeries - so it does somewhat dull the other qualities of the snuff.

It could be due to the caffeine increasing your heart rate such as why they put it in some OTC pain relievers such as Excedrin Migraine and others. It would make sense that it would carry the nicotine through your system faster and after all they’re both stimulants. Funny, without reading anything about it, I have used the combo of a strong coffee and a sterk snus for appetite suppression purposes many times. It works for a couple of hours in my experience.

I’m made a version of one of my home blends with some guarana and cacao in it, but haven’t tried it yet since I give at least a week for it to meld before testing. I’m curious as to what this will do. I used a very small amount, and will titrate it up over tests.

Great idea Herzl let us know how it goes, I may try the same thing actually… Which snuffs are you using out of interest?

For the base mix, I’m using NTSU and WE Garretts 3gm 3gm and Dholakia Chocolate 1/2 gram Lakatia 1 gm. Two taps of Lowenprise. I’ve been making using this a little while now so I’m pretty comfortable with it. I find that the menthol develops over time, even with only two taps. I ‘mix’ it in a granite mortar and pestle, but don’t air or dry intentionally. I’m trying to make open and clean kind of sensation. I like how it is so far. This latest change I’ll test this weekend.

Both Caffeine and Nicotine create a good neurotransmitter flow for pleasure and alertness. It’s like my old routine of endless cups of Tea or Coffee and chain smoking. The delivery system has changed for Nicotine, but I still get the same feeling. That’s even counting the fact that a smoking habit has so many other facets besides the actual drug being consumed.

I read a while back that nicotine “doubles” your body’s ability to to metabolize caffeine - or maybe it was vice versa. Which I interpreted as being able to drink more coffee without getting cracked out - as long as I was using tobacco products.

Yes, here are a couple studies on the synergistic effects of caffeine and nicotine and human energy expenditure: http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/77/6/1442 http://grande.nal.usda.gov/ibids/index.php?mode2=detail&origin=ibids\_references&therow=28672

@Asherael: Yes, I have also noticed that a dose of nicotine can definitely get the bowels moving out of nowhere

There are a lot of nicotinic receptors in the colon, which is why a problem with trying to quit nicotine is constipation. Some people fail to quit because they have become dependent on nicotine to have a bowel movement. Caffeine on the other hand, is a diuretic.

nicotine also calms the nerves when one gets jittery with caffine. the faster metabolization from what I understand means it kicks harder but doesn’t last as long. When I have a lot of caffine I find my pinches shrink a touch but become way more frequent. For the bathroom effect has anyone seen the movie “Romance and Cigarettes”? Great movie and in one scene the charector played by james gandolfini (tony soprano just in case I spelled his name wrong) has a small story about the caffine nicotine bathroom thing.
