Never throw a snuff out unless there is something wrong with it. What could be wrong with a snuff? It’s growing something it shouldn’t that would be wrong. It would also be wrong to keep snuff you spilled poison in. I say never throw out a snuff because it’s amazing how much the sense of smell changes with snuff. It’s funny if you’ve been here long enough you’ll be able to think of how many times someone who is a champion of a particular snuff had posted earlier how horrible a snuff is. Ntsu for example which is a forum favorite, used to get bashed very badly by some of the same people that always have some on hand. My point is don’t make your mind up on a snuff since it may violentily change anyways.
Very good advice and something a brand new snuffer might not even think about. I can say that even in my relatively short experience my tastes have changed dramatically. Sometimes it takes a little while to get in to a new snuff, and you may end up loving something that you hated on the first pinch. I have a 10g tin of WoS Best Dark that I’ve neglected… I’m now wishing that it was still good.
It amazes me how dumb my nose was when I first started snuffing. All medicated smelled the same felt diffrent but smelled the same. There are scent elements that jump out at me that I had no clue were any where in my snuffs at all.
I agree @bob. I wouldn’t throw a snuff out. I would suggest to the newb (like myself) to trade the snuff you don’t like. I have found some snuffs I really enjoy by doing this. This way you don’t have snuff sitting around and it broadens your horizons without spending a lot of money. I have done some great trades with members on this forum and now I have some great new snuffs that I can enjoy. Plus, you get to meet some cool people from the forum. That reminds me, I need to get a care package out for someone on here.
I was gonna throw out a Plum snuff that smelled like bananas…I’m not the only one that thought that…now it’s starting to come around and actually taste like prunes…not quite plums…but I’m enjoying it…just needed to breathe a bit and get used to this harsh low humidity Nebraska air…I wonder if 4000 feet elevation makes a difference…
If any snuff user is gong to throw out snuff, Send it to me I will dispose of it properly
I’ve read reviews of some snuffs where the reviewer said “tried it once, threw it away”. I play guitar, and I find that brand new strings don;t sound good to me, they’re just too bright and pure, but after a few days they’ve bedded in nicely and sound great, and I think the same goes for snuff. If you do find one you really don’t enjoy, use it to experiment mixing with - you might find another snuff to blend it with that makes it enjoyable.
my bass strings are decades old. I fear the new bass strings.
Never throw out snuff or you’ll regret it come Snuffageddon!!
Keep your stock refrigerated (I prefer to use the freezer myself.)
i recycle old snuff into new blends
but isn’t it also true that some snuffs you never come around to like? As a newb myself, I have two snuffs which I fail to enjoy. One reminds me of lip balm, SG Raspberry, and the other is 6Photo Medicated 66 which, I can’t see myself liking either, I think because of the lime. In fact, I can’t see how anyone could like this one.
@nosemboss then you can offer them up for trade, someone is bound to like them, or trade for them just to collect the tin
or keep them to give away to the first person that likes them. That’s my usual snuff hate plan.
I have more than a few snuffs I’m not crazy about, but I keep them as reference snuffs to remind myself what they are like.
The only snuffs I’ve thrown out were my Poschls. I know I’ll never change my mind on those. I did like them at first though. Now I just find them crude.
poschls have some good ones. You have to dig deeper. Additionaly they never change so it’s worth holding onto a tin for that twice yearly craving you get for president or one of the ozonawhatever it’s spelled like!. Also again they’re great to give to newbs. If you have to get rid of them gift them to someone that likes them. Tell them about mr.snuff and recieve good snuffing karma.
Two of them were the first I ever tried, hardly buy 'em anymore, but I like a couple, and must try their schmalzlers.
I had pretty much the whole range @bob but after 4ish months never wanted them. That was 3 years ago. I chucked them out over a year ago with no regrets. Far too much menthol, far too little flavour, and the flavours that are noticeable (ozona cherry, raspberry etc) all smell chemically. The only poschl I’m close to liking is their ozona anis, but as there are many better aniseed snuffs around I can do without poschls without problems. I don’t miss Poschls and I’m certain I’ll never crave any of them. Just thinking about them makes me feel queasy. Too late to give away, I’ve already chucked them and I never bother trying to convert people to snuff as I don’t meet many people. I’m very reclusive. I’ve got all their schmalzlers and I do like those.
Great! you guys seem to be the master in snuffing please feel free to pass me some tips…
Snuffly, bearing in mind that the one thing we can never be wrong on is our personal tastes, what are your favorite flavors in food and scents? Are you, or were you, a cigarette smoker? The reason I’m asking these things is that many, if not most, scents and flavors we like have been added to at least one brand of snuff. The reason I’m asking if you are or were a smoker is that if you were, you will likely not be happy with a low-nicotine snuff, at least until your body acclimates away from cigarettes. I was a dipper and smoker before I got into nasal snuff. What I did, and still do, is to take a very strong scotch snuff, such as Rooster or Bruton’s, and mix it with a coarser apricot and apple to make it easier to snuff. The scent isn’t as strong this way, but it really packs a wallop.
Another good piece of newbie advice is…don’t pick snuff out of your nose with your mouth open.
@distaind Hahahahahaha! Hahahahahaha! Or…don’t pick snuff out of your nose with your snuff spoon, and not at stop lights. People love to stare.
makeing people stare is a good thing. It’s like being a free comedian.
Thanks guys for your advise I will keep that in mind there is so much to learn it looks like I will need a trainer to help me snuffing.
nah practice is all you really need.
