My goal is to quit all nicotine. Im going to give it my all. Just thinking about being on the computer and relaxing without snuff or a little bit of dip really sucks, but i know i can do it.\\ im going to keep collecting pipes but not smoking. Wish me luck -_-’ edit: taking out everything except snuff seems more reasonable LOL but i dont know… this needs a bit of thought. What about you guys…?

B

You joking, right?

M

no. and im not trying to make this post revolve around my choice. i wanna hear resolutions lol.

U

The best of luck mate, hope it plays out OK As for my new years resolution its keep on studying electrical engineering. Then, dig myself out of this hole and buy lots and lots of snuff

M

Good luck man, really. That snuff will taste so much sweeter haha…

O

Sometimes age and experience can generate some wisdom. Therefore I resolve to make no resolutions!

M

haha way to go OTD. most people dont keep them anyway!

O

Therein lies the wisdom! (-;

T

Since I quit smoking last New years(but still find nicotine beneficial)I refuse to give up any alternative to smoking(Snus,Snuff and E-Cigs). I will, however, commit to changing my eating habits with a healthier diet! The Wiz!

M

good choice, Wiz.

K

I agree that age does bring some semblance of wisdom, at least sometimes. My personal experiences taught me that new year’s resolutions are always doomed to fail (at least for me). If I were truly serious abut giving up something, I’d do it NOW. Waiting until the new year only means that I am not really set on giving it up, and will most likely not be all that strong willed to do so when January 1 rolls around. Anyway, I have already implemented a real resolution, which is not to buy more snuff until I put a huge dent in my current stockpile. I have gone overboard buying snuff over the past few months (and I regret nothing!), and I estimate that I could probably go another year or more using what I currently have. I just hope that the damn PACT Act doesn’t screw everything up in 2010.

C

So… you are going to collect pipes but not smoke them? My resolution… wait… oh yeah… time is constant, so resolutions are pointless.

U

@ Roderick That article was interesting…!

T

I often repeat resolutions, like I do want to lose weight and better my health. I have thought about quitting tobacco at times, but it’s the least of my negative vices, so I have no plan to do that at this time, but I do sometimes like the idea of not “using” anything. I do have some goals for the new year, to make a new CD album with my band, and to play a live show. And save money up in the bank.

T

@tom502…I think all members of this site should get a free copy of the CD once it’s released!!..Or I suppose you could trade in snuff for one!..Just a thought! The Wiz!

T

Well, we did just release our debut CD, which came out great. I’d say it’s equal parts calssic Venom, classic Discharge, classic Celtic Frost, classic The Exploited. They can be had on the myspace.com/themightyastrum samples are there too. We pooled our money together and had these professionally pressed and printed, so we don’t wanna just hand them out, as what we make back, is going into the next one we do. They are cheap though.

T

@Tom502…Thanks for the link!..Will give a listen today!! The Wiz!

T

I just made a snuff order, and one resolution I want to stick to, is not buy any more, till over half of what I have is used up, which could be several years. I have never been able to empty a tin, and can’t see how some are emptying 25g tins a week.

P

I have wonderfully strong will power. When I WANT to do something, I WILL do it: I WILL eat more steaks in 2010 I WILL use more snuff in 2010 I WILL buy more snuff in 2010 I WILL drink more coffee in 2010 I WILL sleep more in 2010 I WILL work less in 2010 I WILL use more snus in 2010 I WILL not worry about my weight in 2010 I WILL ride my bikes more in 2010 Etc etc etc etc

J

Pieter, you and I park our cars in the same garage on that one…

T

@tom502…We are in the same boat! The only thing I have ever emptied is a Toque 1g bullet. I have just been hording in case the PACT ACT closes down on us! I have tried everything I wanted to try snuff wise…and ordered more of what I like the best.Time to start snuffing…I am still at 1/4g or less per day! The Wiz!

M

ok screw it. who am i kidding, i cannot stop snuffing but i seriously need to stop all smoking, and this nasty dipping thats becoming a daily habit. thats more like it. i can do it

O

@mcosta Wisdom hehe

S

I’ll be becoming a vegetarian. Other than that I resolve to be more impulsive, less concerned about others opinions of me and, as my (reasonably long term) girlfriend left me recently, I’m going to be a little more self absorbed and fulfil some long term desires that wouldn’t have sat well with her. Oh, and snuff more!

M

thank you Roderick. I didnt know i had such an impact here… lol just kidding

A

Roderick; spoken like a true tobbaconist! That put me in mind of the Monty Python sketch where the man with the terrible cough was speaking to a guy in a white coat in an office, who was advising him to smoke more, ‘You are a Doctor aren’t you?’ he asks. ‘No, I’m a tobacconist’ is the reply. Only kidding, I don’t advocate stopping either; life’s too short. Mcosta, you’ll just loose a pleasant hobby for no net gain. Only stop if you don’t enjoy it anymore. My new years resolution is to chill out and search for some wisdom and spirituality. I can be such a complete twat sometimes and to be honest I’m a little fed up with myself.

S

I’ve heard that New Years Resolutions never work so I resolve to start smoking again in the New Year.

D

My New Years resolution is to be content with what I have and stop trying to keep up with the Joneses. I am going to have a mini celebration and cut up (and close) all but 2 credit cards. I’ve got to start hoarding $$$ because of the economic crapola we are currently in. Oh and to lose 6 lbs. I made a resolution years ago to only set easily obtainable goals. @Sandy - love your thinking!!! I think most resolutions fail because people set insane goals for themselves. I hate being let down so forget that…little changes lead to big changes.

C

After sitting at the bar last night, I now resolve to drink more Samuel Adams Imperial Dopple Bock this next year.

B

Too never give herion to poddles. Hey no one says your resoulution has to change a behavior. I always say nothing wrong with resolve to continue doing the right thing.

A

Aah come on man, whats a little gear to a poodl?. Live a little, Ive just seen on Discovery that the world is about to end, so Im gonna carry on feeding horse to anything that blinks…

M

Hmm, maybe my resolution should be to have LESS nookie… since I’ve never been able to keep a new years resolution.

J

I resolve to start weighing a little less in 2010, so that I’ll be around to say Happy New Year in 2011, 2012, etc…

P

I’m with you James. At 110kg there is just to much of me around.

T

I really need to lose weight too, as I feel my health is failing and I feel bad all the time.

B

sure I hear you snuffster but for some reason poddles just don’t roll with the H train well. Makes them seem even more snobby. Plus when they stop combing their hair it gets scary (yes I know they don’t comb their own hair but go with it o.k.)

A

Thanks Bob, I can feel it now… now where that f£$%*g Llhama…

P

@Midnight…yes, but you will regain the weight as soon as you are ready for the next nookie. It’s an up and down business.

B

I’ve been trying to prepare myself to start the new year by keeping a journal. The only thing I remember from school about Socrates was the quote when he was on trial for heresy, “An unexamined life is not worth living”, when he was encouraging his students to take control of their lives and question what happens around them and actually be aware of themselves and their thoughts. I’m pretty far from a philosopher, but I’ve tried to do this other years and it’s nice to look back and read the entries. I can almost piece the puzzle together to where I am today, the trouble I fell into, and those I overcame. I remember when I was a boy, my brother made fun of me for writing like this and I told him ‘women keep diaries, men keep journals of observation’. Whether that be true, I don’t know, but it shut his pie-hole up.

J

When I was in a creative writing class oh, umpteen years ago, my prof encouraged journalling. I was already a fair scribbler by then, but journalling helped in some ways and hurt in others. It hurt in the fact I had to examine parts of my mind I didn’t really want to deal with at the moment, but in the long run that, of course, helped. Also, I realized I complained a fair amount, never mind the fact that it was only on paper and strictly to myself. I realized that if you don’t fit into the general scheme of things, you should serenely accept your nature and be grateful you have a different perspective on a world gone mad, especially a world where so many people seem to have lost the capacity of independent opinion and critical thinking. Except on Snuffhouse, of course, and that’s why I love it here! The snuffing is good too, naturally.

P

I’m going to try some good advice I received many years ago from an old friend of mine: “Live every day as if it’s your last day on earth and plan for the future as if you are going to live forever”.

N

For the new year I am going to try not to buy any tobacco until I use most of the enormous supply I have. If I can hold out that should take about six months, but I am already seeing things I would like to buy and I just ordered some to beat the new year. I think I am obsessive compulsive. My father lived through the depression, and he had a 600 square foot building behind his house almost filled with food. Maybe that is where I get it from.

T

Nach- I am the same. I need to use what I have before I keep buying more and more and more. I am already so stockpiled now, and I am not a heavy user as it is, but I keep seeing more I’d like to get. I wish snuff was available in little 1-2 gram sachettes.

T

I too will be trying not to buy more snuff in the first few months of the New Year at least - I have 200+ snuffs now and really have been neglecting a lot of them. Unless there is a snuff I simply MUST have, such as a new Toque flavour, or I run out of any of my mainstay snuffs I’m going to just try and appreciate the snuffs I have, and trade the ones that I do not care for.
