When someone here tries these out will you be so kind as to post a review. I’m wondering if there is any menthol in them. And I’m real curious if the winter warmer has spices in it like toques Xmas pudding. Just a couple thoughts of mine but I would really like to hear some reviews. Thanks

S

@distaind they are showing as out of stock on the WoS website, when they come back in I will get some and let you know.

D

Mr.snuff just put it on his website. Not sure if you order from Mr.snuff or not but he has a bunch. @skell18

S

@distaind I try not to for stuff I can easily get here or direct from the manufacturer simply because they are very very expensive, I can buy snuff in an expensive shop here in the UK for a fraction of the price on Mr Snuff. For example a tin of hedges L260 is over £5 on Mr Snuff, my local tobacconist sells it for £2.50 a tin, and thats an expensive shop!

D

Lol. Im jealous! I guess it didn’t sink in right away when you said you are ordering snuff straight from the Wilson’s website because we here in the U.S. aren’t allowed that privilege.

S

@distaind its one of our few perks, we can’t get snus but you can, so it works both ways LOL Best part is, like with ordering direct from toque, the snuff is as fresh as can be when you go direct, I only order WoS, F&T, Toque and McCrystals now direct if I am not desperate, int he case I just pick them up in the tobacconist. Making the most of it before the EU try and ban that too!

J

It looks to me like Wilsons of Sharrow is playing follow the leader. @Roderick

X

^^ Well we said that when WoS Lemon Toast came out about 3 or 4 months after Toque’s Lime Toast. I think both are good, and both are different enough not to be in direct competition with each other. Actually, I think the game they are playing is leapfrog. WoS has to keep putting new snuffs out to remain competitive, yet they can only sell as many as the market will bear. I have a list of 5-10 that they could drop and probably improve their reputation, and bottom line.

S

@Xander sometimes you would be surprised that ones you hate, are actually ones they sell in vast quantities. Rum and Raisin, peach melba and anything with aniseed in I don’t like by WoS, yet my local tobacconist sells them like hotcakes! Mix the lime toast and lemon toast together too, I found a new fav doing that

D

Anyone try these yet?

B

I have the winter warm in my cart .It will be weeks before I get my nose to it.

B

you know I’ve never seen anyone sell a lot of hot cakes.

M

Maybe for a diner breakfast up North in the Winter… I loves them ten inch diner hot cakes with house made hash browns… I’m too hungry…

S

@distaind I have a tin of each on the way, will let you know when they arrive.

S

@bob prob because they have sold out by the time you get there

L

I have not yet given it a proper try, but i did give it a quick sniff when i received fresh from mr snuff. To be honest its not what i expected, was convinced it would be some kind of a spicy/cinnamon snuff, far from truth, it seems extremely nice, deffenetly coffee flavoured, reminds me a lot of abraxas caffè 11 just less potent expecially on nicotine.I will try it again properly…I think this could possibly be what in italy is called “grolla” flavour, a popular brew in mountain regions composed by coffee, orange peal and grappa(alcohool) but this is purely an assuption, not tryed it well enought to be sure ^^

F

ooh, ill have to keep a look out for these. ill try and post thoughts, though im not particularly good at descriptions.

V

Blueberry is a-m-a-zing!

O

Blueberry is a-m-a-zing!

It’s OK I actually prefer toque version.

I didn’t have a chance to taste any of Toque.

B

you know I’ve never seen anyone sell a lot of hot cakes.

You should plan a road trip to the Bloomsberg fair last week in SEPT 21-28. another college town. I had to wait in line for my hotcakes.

D

Took a while to order but I just got the Wilson’s blueberry. I did not expect the menthol and was disappointed it is mentholated. The blueberry smells nice from the tin but once snuffed the menthol takes over and I don’t get much blueberry at all. Looks like I’m sticking with toque on this one.

B

I can’t figure out what the scent of winter warmer is. However the snuff is very nice.

I

Is WoS Winter Warmer the same scent as the type of English beer winter warmer? (beer, plus some spices, citrus twist)

B

Winter warmer has some warming characteristics to it. Nothing too hot. I been trying to nail down the scent I sure it have many for sure

Lol. Im jealous! I guess it didn’t sink in right away when you said you are ordering snuff straight from the Wilson’s website because we here in the U.S. aren’t allowed that privilege.

A few years ago ( 2010 ) I was able to order from Wilsons directly but then one day ( May 10th, 2011 ) they said they couldn’t ship to Canada anymore. :(( Unfortunately, we are no longer able to ship snuff to non-EU countries. It has become increasingly difficult to ship outside the EU and, following advice, we have had to make the frustrating decision to halt all sales due to ever increasing legislative restrictions. We are, of course, very sorry to lose you as a customer but there is very little we can do about it.

V

So, do you like Winter Warmer?

So, do you like Winter Warmer?

I must admit that one has me intrigued too

N

you know I’ve never seen anyone sell a lot of hot cakes.

You’ve never been to IHOP?

B

@Viertel

So, do you like Winter Warmer?

I like it but then again I like most snuffs, As far as a spiced snuff goes this is amongst the mildest. The warming effect is subtle; The scent is neither attractive nor repulsive, rather curious to try and nail down. The drip is rather on the sweet side. There may be a day when full disclosure to the ingredients of snuff are available.Until then it can only be guessed at. This may be one of those snuffs where a 5 grams tin is enough to try for your own conclusions.

J

Winter Warmer. Just received a tin straight from the mill. Fine grind, light brown colour. Subtle flavour. Cinnamon? Raisins? Citrus? Rum? Nutmeg? Allspice? Hard to pin down. Smells like being in mom’s kitchen at Christmas time when all the baking is going on. Quite nice actually Update: no revelations as to flavors but this snuff has grown on me after 2 days use. Worth a try especially if you like spices. Not overly done.

V

I can’t stand that smell. It’s disgusting.

J

After living with WW for a couple days and gathering some other opinions I would have to say that the scent is pretty much like ginger bread.

C

Haven’t spend much time using WoS Winter Warmer yet, though at first open it reminded me of the way a bar rag smells at the end of the of an evening…yuck. So i sniffed a pinch of this snuff it sorta reminded me of a hoppy dark beer once you’ve polished the glass off and go for the wee last bit and you get a whiff of the hoppiness and beer aroma. sorta something i don’t necessarily want in my nose. i think it smells worse in tin than in nose but maybe it’s a good snuff while you are drinking. Still need more time with it, i’d say it’s probally a like or don’t like for folks, though who knows. will use more and try to formulate a better description…thanks.

F

tried both after i found them locally. winter warmer- cant stand it. actually made me feel sick so i didnt keep snuffing to work out the scents. blueberry- i like this one. seems finer or drier to my usual WoS list. mild scent of fresh blueberries in the tin, almost nothing in the nose. i was expecting like blueberry muffin flavour, but this is better!

C

I’ve spent more time with the winter warmer and now i actually quite like it, especially whilst drinking heavy dark beer or hoppy beer. odor seems to have mellowed a week after opening and the aroma has become obivious as a drink. I’ve actually been snuffing a lot of this or the last couple weeks now. nice nic hit to me, not to little not to much.

V

@Firestarter0 I found Blueberry quite contrary - it is not as dry as most WoSes I’ve tried before so I can snuff it without coughing (it is a big advantage for me). But I realised that I can’t precisely say how do blueberries smell like, so I could not compare those smells. I know how do they taste though, WoS Bb is not exactly what I expected from Blueberry snuff, but it is very nice one, despite menthol hit, which I do not like at all.

F

menthol hit? we have different snuffs.

M

Aw… this was gonna be my next winter snuff (ww). Seems I’ll leave it alone. Doesn’t seem to be too intriguing after all. Any other good wintery snuffs except for Bernard’s ones and Xmas Pudding? Anything with pine and/or typical Christmas odors (preferrably a dark tobacco base)? Recommendations?

@Mario84 Try de Kralingse A/P and Bernard Fichtennadel. Nice pine scents.

I

@Mario84 I back the Bernard Fichtennadel recommendation

F

i back fichtennadel too. its a great winter/christmas snuff

M

Yay.Now Fichtenadel has been ordered!

V

Fichtennadel and Góry Świętokrzyskie

B

Fichtennadel and Góry Świętokrzyskie

Any idea where I can buy the Gory? Can’t seem to find it on the latest version of MrSnuff.com.

M

Fichtenadel is very nice. It surprised me a bit in its scent strength. You feel the pine deep in your breath. Hehe. It really makes me want to take a walk in a snowy spruce and pine path in the forest to truly embrace the aroma and its natural backdrop, and the cold should really enhance the experience. It’s excellent for an outdoors winter snuff. I wonder how de Kralingse AP is in comparison. @Viertel , where can I get a hold of Góry Świętokrzyskie, and how is it scented?

V

@Mario84 fir tree with spearmint, idk if it is available abroad, it is a polish snuff made by Synchro

M

Old thread I know…I just got around to ordering WoS Blueberry. I really love Toque B/Menthol, so I will be quite happy if the Wilson’s has menthol. It’s one of those I really like, but not all the time.

S

Unfortunately for you @mrmanos, there is no menthol in the WoS Blueberry.  But do let us know what you think - I haven’t heard anyone else talk about it.

5

@SeanOCDPx At least two other people in this thread have said that WoS Blueberry is mentholated, as does MrSnuffs product description :-? Personally I haven’t tried it, as the fact that others have said it contains menthol prevent me from buying it

S

Nice catch @50ft_trad, I wasn’t reading the thread carefully.  I don’t recall it being mentholated, and Mr. Snuff’s descriptions can be misleading when it comes to the menthol… in this case it says above the description “non-mentholated”.  Paul Gotard pear was listed as non-mentholated which was definitely not the case.

Let me break it out and make sure…  Ok.  I’m still leaning toward non-mentholated, but now my mind is playing tricks on me, and it’s possible there is a trace amount of menthol.  If there is menthol, it’s such a small amount that I never noticed it - and I consider myself sensitive to menthol.  Now to blow my nose and try again… yeah there might be a tad.

So forget what I said @mrmanos.  Let us know what you think of it, AND let us know if you think there is menthol in this.  .

5

@SeanOCDPx It’s not like WoS Raspberry then. That one (or at least the tin I got) was face melting menthol with a hint of raspberry.

M

@SeanOCDPx, You were correct, no menthol in the Blueberry. It’s still pretty nice, good tobacco, the scent is mild and slightly sweet. I don’t get anything other than blueberry. I like it, not all day, but it’s nice for relaxing with.

S

Cool @mrmanos, thanks for getting back to us on that!
