Hey there, in germany we had a new market entry this week. Mr. Rosinski, located at former eastern germany, State Brandenburg, Frankfurt/Oder. A maker of historic and traditionell snuff, based on historic receipes, he claims only organic ingridients. So far i hadn´t the luck testing his snuffs but looking forward to get samples of his 5 handmade varieties lineup before christmas. Driesener: summer snuff, green, unfermented, spicy and fresh. Coldapper: special occasion snuff, double fermented burley. Uckermärker: Black and smoky Stargarder: Mild Virginia and Honey Käthnertabak: beergarden-snuff. earthy, moist, high nicotine you can find the website here —> http://rosinski-schnupf.com/ His snuffs are unfortunately, at the moment only available in www.snuffandmore.de. _____________________________________________________ This post is intended as information, not advertising. I´m founder of the german board www.schnupftabakfreunde.de we are not in touch with the snuffandmore webshop. with a friendly greeting and a large pinch in the nose. yours Unhold admin www.schnupftabakfreunde.de
These recipes and packaging look impressive, specially the fermented, non oily varieties. Descriptions of flavors on their webpage make them seem really yummy.
Very interesting, thanks for letting us know! I like the simple design of the labels. The website is terrible, though. Here’s a link to the German shop that sells these snuffs, if anyone is interested.
@MrSnuff Any chance you’d be able to carry this Brand ? they sound Great !
Paraphrasing the words of Danusia from Sienkiewicz’s novel “The Crusaders”: mine is he! The Poles are cheering for mr Rosiński’s work to be good and pleasant for all of snuff takers.
Snuff and More dot de has them. I am in the process of ordering one of each type. I will post my unofficial reviews when I have them, about three weeks from now.
Never heard of the before. Thanks for sharing the information. Since i just found out about a new snuff from Swiss, to find another new one from Germany makes my day.
I was just on their website. The snuffs sound very good, and also the blue glass jars, which are probably why they are so expensive. I flinched a little when I saw my invoice. But I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised. The green snuff sounds very interesting. The site states that all their tobaccos are regional so that will also be of interest. Its always exciting trying a bunch of new snuffs. I should have them in about 10 days.
could someone please correct the name of the title of this thread and in my first posting. it should read ROSINSKI with an I instead of Y. Name endings “I” are german, “Y” are polish. regards
@unhold Go to your original post and in the upper right hand corner you’ll see a blk gear, click on this to edit your post. It becomes visible when you move your pointer there.
Where and when can we get a hold of this snuff here in the states??
could someone please correct the name of the title of this thread and in my first posting. it should read ROSINSKI with an I instead of Y.
Your wish is my command…
@nicmizer: You can only get it from Snuff and More. de. I wrote to the manufacturer and he told me he only has one vendor, who is also in Germany. And by the small sizes of the containers, which are blue glass, and the price, which is high, I don;t think he’s planning on an international market. The website address is above, with a contact us section. I ordered all 5 types and they sound like they’ll be good, I ought to get mine in the mail this week. I’ll post my reviews.
Hi folks, here is some Info and reviews. SORRY FOR BAD LANGUAGE, I`M GERMAN AND USED GOOGLE TRANSLATION! GOOGLE HAD NO TRANSLATION FOR “AUSSCHNEUTZEN”, WHICH SIMPLY MEANS NOSE CLEANING WITH HANDKERCHIEF. René Rosinski, the maker behind these varieties, is now a member of Schnupftabakfreunde-forum. I gathered some information while we emailed. He has been working long time as a development helper in south america, where he was teached making snuff by indian people. Back in germany he used his snuffmaking skills together with Brandenburg/Polish traditional receipes from 19. century. Unlike other manufacturers in his snuff the capacity is given in Mililitern instead of grams. The glass crucibles have a bonded sealing film which have to be removed when first opened, in addition to a seal in the screw cap. The packaging I find very innovative and elegant. At a later stage Refills are to be offered, with which you can fill the pot already purchased again. And now to my experience reports on each species. To take one anticipated that snuffs are sometimes quite complex and should be enjoyed aware in a quiet moment. Especially have raised me personally Goldapper and Käthnertabak, but also Driesener, Stargard and Uckermärker are very appealing. A very strong lineup for a newly established factory. It is best to try themselves, form opinion and leave your experience here in the thread. _____________________________________________________________________________ Driesener. The Summersnuff Packaging: 15ml glass crucible, seal and additional seal in the lid Color: medium brown with light green particles Moisture: dry Freeness: medium Menthol: no Nicotine: higher than standard Pöschl Rating: 7 out of 10 Aroma from the can: spicy and slightly hay-like Aroma in the nose: Departs at first quite sharp. Herb spicy, sweet in the course of becoming. Hay-like, not like two mills, but more like the slightly dried mowing on a herbaceous meadow. The off-topic (green tobacco) comparable Bernard Kownoer not developed this pronounced tobacco sweetness in the end, as shown by the Driesener. So I think that there is a mixture of fermented and unfermented tobacco is present. Yummy snuff, tastes like country air, in the summer of riding a bicycle along a freshly mowed lawn … Even after several pinches nose gently, nose moisturizes well without flowing, nicotine effect is stronger than Pöschl standard. _______________________________________________________________________________ Goldapper. The Celebration Snuff Packaging: 15ml glass crucible, seal and additional seal in the lid Color: dark brown Moisture: dry Freeness: medium Menthol: no Nicotine: Medium Rating: 8 out of 10 Aroma from the can: sweet malty, almost chocolaty, fine spicy Aroma in the nose: sweet, spicy, malty, toffee, a trace chocolatey and somehow I associate another little hint of vanilla. The Festtagsschnupf is a real dessertsnuff, that’s for sure. After a few pinches me feel as if I had nibbled, but luckily no calories. The sweetness holds after Ausschneutzen quite a while in the nose. Very tasty snuff. Recommended for a day of celebration, or as Ganztagesschnupf for sweet mouths. Very gentle nose and mild nicotine. __________________________________________________________________________________ Stargarder. The mild Snuff Packaging: 15ml glass crucible, seal and additional seal in the lid Color: light brown Moisture: dry Freeness: fine Menthol: no Nicotine: Medium Rating: 7 out of 10 Aroma from the can: fine and spicy, blindfolded immediately the typical Virginia flavor Aroma in the nose: the typical hay-like flavor of Virginia tobacco. Despite the fine freeness nothing flies in the throat, thus optimally conditioned. For typical Virginia still resonates with a slightly acidic component. A touch of honey, as in the description I catch really only after the Ausschneutzen. But this is not really bad because of snuff inspired by his sweet-sour nuances enough. Very nose gently, suitable for everyday use, delicious. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Käthnertabak. The beer garden Snuff Packaging: 15ml glass crucible, seal and additional seal in the lid Color: dark brown Moisture: dry Freeness: medium Menthol: no Nicotine: Medium Rating: 7 out of 10 Sweet earthy. A creamy touch of Kashubian sauce, similar to the recipe of the two mills snuffs. Juniper I taste out further Melange is too diffuse to clearly taste. Mint could be there, but not ethereal, but rather the leaves. It’s really a challenge to unravel this variety. I’ll make it short. The Käthner tastes delicious. Likely to make the beginner and the advanced Fun noses certainly bring joy. Delicious and very friendly nose. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Uckermärker. The smoky snuff Packaging: 15ml glass crucible, seal and additional seal in the lid Color: dark brown Moisture: dry Freeness: medium Menthol: no Nicotine: Medium Rating: 9 out of 10 Aroma from the can: spicy and smoky Aroma in the nose: Very spicy and pleasantly smoky flavor, like a good black forest ham. It is joined by a continuous moment during rising tobacco sweetness. The tobacco moistened my nose well and will quickly back out. After Ausschneutzen the smoky remains for a while, but not quite as long as you know from the Bernard varieties ago. Snuff as the Uckermärker I like to be outside and enjoy a barbecue. Delicious, spicy, smoky, sweet towards the end. A real men tobacco, besides, a nose gently. Friends of the Bernard gekachelter Virginie or other smoky snuffs should give him a try. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ If you like traditional snuff, you should give it a try. These snuffs are created of masterful hand. Regards. Your Unhold www.schnupftabakfreunde.de
I would like to answer the many questions that we have received over the past weeks concerning Rosinski´s closure.
At the end of May 2024, Rosinski Tabak will have to close due to unfulfillable EU regulations.
Since 2019, manufacturers of smokable tobacco products have been obliged to implement the EU Directive TPD2, which, among other things, regulates the creation of an electronic traceability system for tobacco products.
The traceability regulations of this directive will apply to manufacturers of snuff and chewing tobacco from the end of May, 2024.
The purpose and aim of the traceability regulations is to make it easier for customs to counteract the evasion of tobacco taxes by providing digitally readable labeling for all tobacco products, as well as to prevent the distribution of counterfeit tobacco products that are not manufactured by a well-known company and are potentially harmful to health.
To achieve this, all packaging must be provided with a forgery-proof, digitally readable label. This means that every single product packaging, every single container box, every single pallet must be marked with its own label, for which must be specified (among other things): the exact product name, the person responsible for the product, exact quantities and the previous transport route.
Each step of the transport route (from tha manufacturer, via the wholesaler´s warehouses, to the retailer) must be labeled, and every step must be documented digitally, reported (in our case) to the the German Federal Press, archived and regularly checked by an expert.
To do this, tobacco product manufacturers need specially developed, very expensive software and special printers that can print the label data provided digitally by the German Federal Press on counterfeit-proof blank labels.
A small business cannot possibly bear the considerable costs for software, printing technology, special labels and the software manufacturer’s software price plus ongoing monthly fees without increasing its own prices to such an extent that its own products would probably become unsaleable.
In addition, there are the ongoing costs for a sworn expert who compares the reported sales with the manufacturer´s inventory at regular intervals.
But even if a small company could bear all these costs and the considerable additional bureaucratic workload involved, direct sales of tobacco products by the manufacturer are no longer envisioned in the EU: A company can register either as a producer or as a retail outlet, but not as both.
Reference should be made once again to the original objectives of the directive: avoiding tax evasion and avoiding counterfeit goods:
Snuff and chewing tobacco are exempt from tobacco tax, so no such tax could possibly be be evaded, and the sale of counterfeit goods is excluded in a direct sales business.
Even though applying traceability rules to small snuff and chewing tobacco manufacturers makes no sense at all, the EU has not set up special excemptive regulations for these small manufacturers, as, for example, the UK government has done for their own snuff manufacturers.
Such significant additional costs and additional administrative effort do not only affect the tobacco industry in the EU. In most manufacturing sectors, small businesses can no longer meet ever-increasing bureaucratic requirements and are forced to close.
It has been a pleasure to create good snuffs for the past 10 years, and I want to thank everyone who has supported our small manufactury.
Rene Rosinski
Thanks for updating us. Thè new regulations are bureaucracy gone mad. Complete nonsense.
Your snuffs are highly regarded and will be much missed. Have you considered selling your recipes to another snuff company?
All best wishes to you.

Mr. Rosiński (I will not resist adding the letter ń to your surname), these were great years and excellent snuffs. I think that for the German snuff takers these were the best snuff creations since the closure of the Lotzbeck company, and for the Poles the best that had any connection with Poland since 1925. I thank you on my behalf and I suspect that many Poles do for these wonderful snuffs.
History will certainly not forget about Tabakmanufaktur Rosinski, because at least a paragraph was included in my book.
Yes, that´s right, there is a ń in my surname, and even a ł in my middle name, officially in my German passport
Thanks for your vote of confidence, and let me know once your book is out!
This is very sad news. I will cherish the samples I still have. I always appreciated the product and the packaging.
