New to Snuffhouse and Snuff!!

Hello All, I just wanted to introduce myself to all my fellow snuffers. I recently started snuffing within the past week and it is now my newest obsession and hobby. I am an everyday smoker (over a pack a day) and I have been doing other forms of tobacco such as snus and dip. I found out some information about snuff and I received my first batch last week. I ordered McChrystals O&G, Toque Spanish Gem, and Bernard Klostermischung. I did some research and wanted a little variety to see what I prefer. I didn’t like Bernard’s at first because it burned so bad I immediately had to blow my nose. The McChrystal’s is a nice snuff though I only use it about 2-3 a day. The Spanish gem is a real nice snuff with some good aroma’s. After trying these 3 for a week, I find that my everyday snuff now if the Bernard’s Klostermischung. I loved snuff so much that I ordered some more snuff. After doing some research I ended up ordering Gawith Hoggarth Dry Orange, Poschl Packard Club, Poschl Gawith Apricot, Samuel Gawith Apple, and Toque Peanut Butter. I am wanting to build up my collection so I wanted to ask the opinion of people here on Snuffhouse. Based on my current 3 snuffs and the other snuffs I ordered, what are 5 must have snuffs to have in a collection that you do not see above? (After doing some research it looks like the poschl’s are mentholated so I do not want to order any more medicated snuffs) Thanks for the feedback, glad to be part of the forums here! Cheers, Bslane

Bslane82, Hmm… What does the “BS” stand fer? I’m FrigginSantaClaus

It is my first name and middle initial

Top 5 is hard to say I love pretty much every snuff I’ve tried. But I would say but I would start by ordering some toque sp extra and if you like the sp’s there are plenty to order they are all great. Poshl schmalzlers are great too if you like fruity scents. Viking dark if you like a real tobacco scent with a decent kick to it. F&T high dry toast is a good one too that covers a few realms of snuff styles it just depends on what your liking is but try em all I always find new Jensen with each order I place and welcome to snuffhouse.

Hey distaind, thanks for the recommendations!!!

With Toque you can’t go wrong … Whiskey & Honey, Toast & Marmalade, Lime Toast, Xmas Pudding, Vanilla and Natural Toast … Plus Toque has a lot of interesting flavors coming out soon that may interest you too. I would throw in Gawith Hoggarth Irish D for a toast/scotch blend, Wilsons Crumbs of Comfort is a nice spearmint, and McChrystals Clove is very nice. Like Distaind said it’s really tough to nail it down to 5., it really does boil down to personal preference. I would go with smaller tins, skip tap boxes, and you will find the ones you take to with lots of variety then you can order in bulk.

The five you must have ! Samuel Gawith : Banana , Jaxons : English Toffee , Dholakia : Ganga , Toque : Quit , Samuel Gawith : Otterhound , And don’t let anyone tell ya different . O Ya , I.M.O.

I keep hearing things about Dholakia, gonna give that one and some of the other recommendations a try

Is it bad to order a bunch of tins? Will they lose any flavor by sitting for a while?

If you don’t particularly care for something – don’t throw it out! Tuck it away and come back to it later… You might be surprised at how you respond to it later.

I would add Fubar Grunt to the list and Dragun as well.

Wilson’s of Sharrow has over 70 flavors. Check them out and see of any of them interest you.

Thanks for all of the suggestions… There are a lot of choices out there!!!

So many choices… so little time and even less $ You will certainly have 5 musts that will be different from each person who recommends. There are none of the above that I have any problems with. Do TOTALLY agree on skipping the 10g tap boxes as they certainly will dry out. You have made some decent choices and some great suggestions have already been made. But I cant help but add my 2 cents worth so here goes. For exotic Try 6 Photo Kailash or Anarkali, For a familiar lasting aroma try Samuel Gawaith Celtic Talisman, For a comforting bit of relaxation (and in my case to reduce headache) try De Kralingse Peppermunt, for a fragrant boost Gawaith and Hoggarth Jockey Club and for an all around decent snuff Wilsons Grand Cairo. Enjoy and happy shopping!!!

Agree, Grand Cairo is a magnificent snuff, as is Toque Quit, especially for the smoker. If you like German snuffs you might also like some of the coarser English ones, like Kendal, or Viking, Brown.

@Bslane82 Welcome Home. Here are threads of top five http://www.snuffhouse.org/search?Search=top+five Every nose is different so to recommend what you want to spend your money on I suggest SNUFF times infinity.

And/or you can trade them with other members on the board!

Thanks for all of the recommendations!! $40 later and I have a very nice selection coming to me! I can’t wait to try them all out.

And so it begins…Friends once again we have facilitated another in acquiring TAD.

As a new user you can’t go wrong by exploring the catalogues of Wilsons of Sharrow and Toque, 30 odd years into my snuff habit I can’t imagine life without them.
