After keeping my eye out for a while for a French made rosewood box with the blacksmith inlay (I used to work with metal and in a foundry many years ago)… I finally found one!!! It appeared unused, but was not perfect. While it snaps and stays closed splendidly, I did have some leaking from the front corners and the left side of the flip top. I applied and buffed out a few coats of beeswax to the entire box inside and out. As well, I applied some extra beeswax reinforcements to the inside front corners for good measure. Result… (drum roll please)… it is now leak free. This one will house my various Scotches and I am ready to take this gem out and about. Sure there may be others like it out there, but this one is mine. Holding this palm sized box in my hand and taking a pinch makes the snuff taking ritual/experience that much more enjoyable for me in my humble opinion. Thanks for looking!
What a beauty!
Snuff box envy here !!
Very nice~that’s an heirloom.
Thanks for the comments fellas! I put it through its paces today and it performed excellently without any leaks. I must say, I found myself snuffing a bit more frequently today simply because I was enjoying the box so much.
palm sized? That baby must hold a fair amount of snuff!
