I have enough snuff in my house, but my nose doesn’t mind sniffing something new and interesting. Pöschl, Samuel Gawith and McChrystals completely disappeared from the shelves of tobacco shops in my city, and all other brands were never imported at all. But suddenly, after a while, I saw a brand new Walter Raleigh snuff! Naturally, as a sophisticated and devoted fan of snuff, I immediately bought myself a couple of pieces…
What is this manufacturer?
This is snuff from Russia. While the popular snuffing shag (remember “Golden Fish”, for example?!) disappeared with the USSR, sniffers themselves have not disappeared, although the percentage of these people compared to smokers is negligible. But, as Edgar Allan Poe and I like to say, “you can’t rely on the opinion of the majority, since most people are idiots.” So if we sniffers are in a low percentage compared to other ways of using tobacco, then we are better off. It’s a joke, of course crosses fingers behind back
Walter Raleigh flavor range:
1.Original
2 Red Bull
3.Raspberry
4. Mint
5. Eucalyptus
I took Original and Red Bull for testing.
The first thing I noticed was the packaging. HOW DID THEY THOUGHT TO PUT TOBACCO IN A SMALL JAR? This significantly increased its cost and created certain inconveniences. A carabiner, a chain behind which you can hang a bottle of tobacco on a trouser strap (was it intended that way?) is as fragile as possible and can be easily torn off! It turns out that at some point you can easily not find your tobacco on your trousers and get very upset. So the packaging is only a minus, and even very large. No, seriously, we are not friends with other forms and materials at all, dear manufacturer? Oh, okay.
Red Bull.
This is not at all an analogue of Red Bull from Pöschl! There is no strong menthol in this fragrance! This is an unusually rich taste of guarana! The smell is so strong that it does not disappear even after 12 hours! One morning I treated a friend to snuff, so the next morning he told me that he STILL smells tobacco in his nose! How did they make it like that? Chemistry? I asked the manufacturer a question, remind me to tell about it at the end of the article! So, nothing burns the nasal mucosa and this allows you to sniff tobacco comfortably for 2-3 snuffs in a row (I love sniffing so much during coffee, what can you do). The strength pleasantly surprised me - I feel it at the level of 3 out of 5. This is not a very strong tobacco, but definitely not the softest. Perfect for use at work. But there is one moment… I saw this for the first time… While I was fiddling with the bottle in my hands, I noticed the inscription: “SHELF LIFE 2 YEARS”. Wow! Yes, I have kept them for 15 years. Here sucks…
Original.
I am a fan of pure fragrances. For example, Samuel Gawith Sam’s Own, but these are extremely rare. And so I open the Original by Walter Raleigh… A pleasant and again rich aroma hits the nose! The smell is very similar to the one I used to grind “Pueblo” tobacco myself. Citrus notes dance with ballet ease, paired with earthy and herbaceous aromas. Pleasant sweetness, something like sweets, barberry, milk chocolate. Perhaps this is already my psychological refinement (I mixed “Pueblo” with drops of “Red Label” whiskey), but I catch very subtle notes of alcohol. I don’t think Walter Raleigh has it, so I’m just delirious
Again I turn the bottle of tobacco in my hand … It’s amazing (no), but it’s already written here that the product has an unlimited expiration date. Great, so I’m starting to collect Original. I think the shelf life depends on flavoring. Probably, it is The feeling of the fortress turned out to be at the level of Red Bull. It just suits me.
Well. Tobacco definitely pleased me and now I constantly take it to work. I’m glad that he appeared, but sad that all other manufacturers disappeared.
Oh right, thanks for the reminder! I wrote a list of 5 questions to the manufacturer. Not so much for an inquisitive like me! By the way, here are the questions:
- What is the strength of your tobacco line?
- Foreign counterparts have an unlimited shelf life, while yours has only two years. What is the reason?
- What tobaccos are used in production? Is it based on whole leaves or its veins, stem?
- Is propylene glycol added? Are any chemicals added?
- Is the tobacco made according to your own recipes, which were developed at your factory, or according to the purchased (licensed, patented) recipes of foreign (and maybe previously used by Soviet factories) colleagues?
Guess how many questions I got answered? Right! There is no answer! Why should they communicate with their consumers? Although, who knows, maybe they don’t have time for letters in the company, try screwing so many caps on these mini flasks, damn it!
P.S. One more small clarification: all the bottles are DIFFERENT sizes, although the weight of tobacco is 10 grams each. Perfectionists cry
