I’m sure this isn’t new, but it is to myself. If I’m going to take a pinch from a box or tin that does not easily permit 2 fingers I simply make a hook out of my index finger, dig in, and raise up a wonderful dollop of snuff that I then bring to the nostril and sniff it right off the finger tip. I find this gives a maximum amount of snuff especially when it can be easily repeated. I find this works with a wide variety of snuffs.

Indeed I usually use a spoon, but for some reason I’ve misplaced it. I began this method using F&T tubes and really it can be used on other larger tins as well. I find it less messy on the shirt or under the nose.

you think snuff machines are problematic in general? I can only take the snuff in two holes. otherwise I feel not good.

I’ll always decant to a smashbox or snuffbox which permits me to pinch. Won’t use any other method. As for F&T tubes, I just use a teaspoon to fill a smashbox. It’s not rocket science. As for oiled tapbox snuffs, I just tap out enough snuff in to the palm of my left hand until there’s enough to take two pinches with my right hand. Again, not rocket science. There’s always a way to pinch and it’s the best method imo. Spoons, bullets, machines, sniffers, not for me.

Now that we know what you like we can stop everything. Lol I’m looking for a better method then the dirty, messy, pinch. I believe I have found it. It’s not rocket science but if you read the opening post perhaps you can try it? Lol

Fair point. Each to their own but snuff is a messy business whatever method you employ. But you can’t beat the pinch. It’s the best method. I firmly believe that. But you do what you like, so long as you’re enjoying yourself, who am I to tell you what to do? Have fun.

That’s good to hear @saucy_jack. I’m well aware I’m not a naturally easy person to like. I fell down the charisma tree and missed every damn branch. But hey ho, I try my best on here. Yes, this is me trying my best!!!

@saucy jack by no means did I intend to invalidate this method of taking snuff. In fact this method has been celebrated in its history. I have seen gold fingernail tips being pawned off on E-Bay at agreeable prices. You may be interested if you dress up for formal occasions. One such fingernail I mentioned here in the house some years ago. Search to see if it pleases you.

i use the palm of my hand–as opposed to back of hand --to take snuff, most of the time. i’m a new guy–so maybe just rookie stuff. i do pinch am. scotches

My palms would be too sweaty at work. I have started pinching at work, but I still use the back of my hand most often if I don’t have my fingernail clippers handy.

Only time I use my palms is with those darned poschl tap boxes where I tap out enough in to me left palm to be able to take two pinches from with my right hand and as I hardly ever use poschl this is a rarity.

I’ve actually perfected this method and find it easier to use than pinches even. The only time I stray is if its in a box. The palm method sounds frightful.
