Regarding Norman silver snuff boxes, I also have two of them. The small, round “Celtic knot” model is great except for the volume; it doesn’t hold much. The bigger model I have is a different story. It leaks like a sieve around the cover. This means that fine, dry snuff leaks out if one isn’t very careful, and that moist snuff is likely to dry out before it all can be consumed. So yes, this last one is a nice box, but the design leaves much to be desired.
I have the gereen one. Would say It is easily 50+ grams but not 150. It is a slick outfit however. Opens much like a Wilsons cannister after depressing the ‘plunger’ on top allowing break in vacuum. Have not had it long but am very pleased with function to date.
Reprise… 50- grams pending grind and moisture. Would probably not fill clear to top since may have potential, like a Wilsons tin to ‘mound up’ on the edges as the lid is removed. That is an assumption since mine is not clear full. Luck!
I can also recommend the pipe tool. I have the cheap Czech pipe tool… the one @gandalf is speaking of looks similar but possibly more sturdy and rugged and costs only a bit more. The spoons are a great shape and size, perfect for mixing or for scooping out daily doses into your snuff box or container of choice.
The Snuffhouse plastic boxes on Mr. Snuff are awesome. I only got one to start with, but loved it and had to get another one on my last order. They feel great in the hand and pocket, hold your snuff tight, have the ability to pinch or tap, and you really can’t beat the price.
I concur @Gandalf, my pipe tool is stamped “made in czeck republc” and the pipe spoon holds what I need for a snort. I got a free spoon from mrsnuff, but…and maybe I use too much snuff in my hits, but the spoon would barely hold a bb from a bb gun and I would need half a dozen spoonfuls(at least).
