For those interested. I made some tripletechs and finished them with some really old inlays from Buffard Freres of Paris. Buffard Freres made some of the finest inlays and marquetry for European woodworkers and cabinetmakers during most of the 19th century. My source for these thinks these are about 100 years old. I do know that Buffard Freres went out of business during the depression in the 1930’s so they are at least that old. Here’s some pics. More to come soon. You can check them out in more detail at woodensnuffbox.com

Beautiful! These will be gone in no time at all… I am more of a silver snuffbox kind of guy, but I do love the one TT that I have.

B

I tried to order a tripletech from the webshop, but my country (Hungary) is not in the drop-down list. As I see, a lot of European country is missing as well…

O

@b4xter You’re right. I added Hungary. Hope it works now. Looks like I need a geography lesson. I’ll have to add some more later. Thanks for your interest. If I’ve left anyone else off the list please let me know.

B

I had to get one, since I am a supporter of the arts

W

Ditto, basement! I’m so excited

B

Thank you, @onefortheroad I sent you an email. Sorry for my impatience, those boxes are so beautiful

W

Thanks for making these, I have ordered one and will treasure it!

M

@onefortheroad what are you doing to me? This will be my fourth tripletech now as I just received the email that it shipped. I couldn’t resist though, ordered the Padauk.

J

Me too. Couldn’t resist!

M

onefortheroad-Where on your sit do I find these particular boxes? I found tripletechs but I’m not sure if those are the tripletechs you’re mentioning here.

O

@Mr-O All the snuff boxes are together in the snuffboxes category. The site doesn’t let me put them in a particular order. The ones mentioned here, pictured above, I think are at the end of the snuffboxes section. They will mention Buffard Freres in the description. Only had a few each of these. The padauk are all gone (right box in picture above) but there are some oak left (left box in picture above). I should have some more tripletechs in a week or two, including a couple more with Buffard Freres inlays. Just need a couple more coats of clear.

M

Very cool! If I can swing it soon enough I’d love to have one in my collection!

P

You people do realize, these snuff boxes are work of art, and will one day be worth thousands and in museums.

W

Patrick - I have treasured and used three double boxes for several years now. They have served me well and gave me a good selection of snuffs to carry. I have admired your skills for as long, also. I have never been able to justify a Tripletech due to my financial downfall, although I have always wanted one. Well the chance to own one of these special editions was more than I could stand, and I just unwrapped a padauk box from you… It is a wonderful box! Just gorgeous! I will treasure it for a long time, I hope. It is still a little fresh from the final coat, and I will air it for a while. I plan to use mine, hard, and I am considering filling it with Sugandhsagar Rose snuff. As much as I agree it is a wonderful work of art, I still think it should be used. Thank you for making these, I could not be happier with mine, Kudos!

B

Arrived safely , put on a good coat of wax inside and out. another fine addition to my addiction.

B

Beautiful. But I ordered a couple of different ones, because my style is different.

Ha! no wonder it says “This item cannot be ordered at the moment”, you stole MY box!

B

@SnuffSniffer You know the old saying -when you snooze I win

D

What kind of wax do you use?

O

I don’t really recommend using waxes or anything on these (see my “new box guide” on my site) but once it’s your box I can’t tell you what to do with it. The biggest problem is sometimes they just won’t glide nice if the wax gets where the lid and box meet each other. From my experience wood to wood contact is best for snug and smooth operation, no waxes or oils. As far as the exterior goes, if you carry one of these boxes in your pocket for a couple weeks it will become very shiny and glossy. They basically get a good pocket buffing. The difference is night and day. The finish will become a nice glossy rock hard shell. Thank you all for the kind words and support. Sorry I didn’t make more but I’m really trying to do more variety in lesser numbers. Not to say I won’t make more padauk with the same inlay, especially since many seemed to like this particular combination, but I just don’t know when. @whalen Thanks for the compliments. I know you’re gonna love this box. Yes the clear coat is fresh but will be fully cured in time. Padauk is one of the slowest to cure for some reason. Yes, play hard and don’t be afraid to put that baby to use. I’ve been amazed at what these boxes will handle.

X

I agree with that. My canary box is shiny as a new penny since I carry it every day.

W

My everyday Tripletech is Padauk with the chevron inlay and it stays shiny just from my pocket. In the few months that I have had this box I have had no problems and IMO Patrick makes the best snuff boxes out there. A hinged lid would be very cool though.

M

My Padauk Buffard arrived on Monday an I am very happy with it. It adds to the Zebrawood, Teak, and Oak Tripletechs I already have. I may be getting a TTAD.

O

Couple more Buffard Freres tripletechs. And a few others. Very limited quantities if not gone already. woodensnuffbox.com

F

Ordered box shown in middle. Beautiful inlay!!! Thank you.

W

@furious I got that one too and one of the Zebrawood with the Indian Head penny. They are quite the works of art. Plus I get to use them by putting my favorite snuffs inside, so functional too.

M

@willc, I ordered that one, as well. I wonder how many of them he made. Padauk is my favorite snuff-box wood.

This is my first Padauk box and am interested to see how this wood affects moisture as you know some species tend to dry snuff faster than others. It is a real beauty and the inlay is amazing!

B

@furious you should be more concerned how the moisture will affect the box.

Good point.

W

@furious most of my boxes are Padauk. I find it to be the most stable and neutral smelling. It is probably one of the more dense woods and it looks nice. I also would like to add that the PC boxes are pretty tough too. Yesterday my Zebrawood box fell out of my shirt pocket and fell about 30ft to the sidewalk below and it is only slightly scatched. I was impressed, thought it was a goner.
