neti pots

Good Lord! Just used a neti pot for the first time! Don’t get me wrong, it’s an eye opener! The rubbish that is draining out of my sinuses is frankly shocking. My big question is, will it get less horrific? It’s purely mucus (sorry to be so graphic) but I’m feeling so much better for getting it out. I used to have one nostril that was generally clogged. Now they’re both clear, and I can smell much better. I’m assuming it’s because it’s my first purge that there’s still stuff coming out half an hour later!

Neti snot

I bought one quite awhile ago but I didn’t find it cleared things out much better than a good nose blowing. Where I’ve found it does come in handy is at the onset of a head cold.

@Talijim, It’s a miracle worker for some of us who need it. I’m glad it’s helping you. And yes it should become less astounding depending on where you live and your environment. I would think it was more because it was the first time. But isn’t it cool? I’s such a non-invasive & harmless way to improve the sinuses and breathing without having to take those medicines that made me feel like a space cowboy plus other unsavory side-effects. It’s also helps your immune system since your nose is one of the main filtering systems from germs and crap. My nose was smashed to smithereens and the doctors did an excellent job putting it back together and making it look nice on the outside they could only do so much on the inside. So for me I need it on a regular basis in order to breath out of both nostrils. My friend used to get horrible sinus infections on a regular basis that would leave her bed bound with vertigo and wishing for death. Since she started using the Neti pot she hardly ever gets them anymore. A guy I know just had surgery to remove polyps. He was told to use a Neti pot *5* times a day while he is healing and he says he can not believe what’s coming out of his nose and how much better his very sore nose feels afterwards. As you can tell I’m a firm believer. I’m thinking snuff will be even more enjoyable for you now.

I love my Neti pot !!

I use and recommend Baraka neti pots and mineral salt rinse. I have a water cooler that has a hot water spigot that makes using a neti pot quick and easy. I use mine most days just to keep things cleaned out and it’s a must when stuffed up.

Spice it up with a bit of ginger. It opens up everything

If you only flush once or twice a week, then it probably won’t get “less horrific”… Of course, now that you know what’s coming, it will SEEM less horrific. Flushing once or twice a day will probably allow you to stay ahead of it. How big is your neti pot? Mine is 16 oz. (one pint) most are 8 oz. (or less.) Even with a large neti pot, I sometimes need to use 2 or 3 potfulls to do a complete job if it’s been a while.

Neti pots are great, I use mine daily.

I use an ear syringe

I use a squeeze bottle nasel rinse when my nose is clogged !
