Hi guys! I just got back from France. The closest Tabac shop sold some snuffs. They had some Poshl snuffs- also some Poshl SNUS (which was kind of weird and nasty). Anyways, I bought some “Neffa Suffi” snuff from Tunisia. It was loaded with tobacco, baking powder, and Lime. This stuff had a pretty nasty taste, but the nicotine kick was the strongest I’ve ever experienced. Must be the Lime. It really made my heart beat noticably hard. Anyways, was wondering if anyone else has tried the stuff.
No haven’t tried it. Did you get samples for the rest of us?! lol
Can you post a picture of that Poeschls Snus?
Its made or imported in Belgium by the manufacturer of the Makla moist oral tobacco:here
You can buy Nefa Ifrikia here: Nefa Ifrikia Snuff
That Makla oral tobacco was one of the Snus’ I tried. Pretty nasty, actually. The Poeschls SNUS was called CHEEMA. I don’t have any pics- but it tastes just like the Makla stuff. Nasty. It’s kind of army greenish looking stuff and claims to only be 65% tobacco. Who knows what the rest is. Maybe don’t want to know?
I read you put it under the tongue which seems like it would really give you a crazy fast and hard hit that way.
You are right, it is Neffa Souffi, made in Tunisia. Snuff with calcium and chalk. Available in “exotic” shops in france, I never saw it in any online shop. Supposedly this snuff might cause a pneumoconiosis if not used cautious. Got this Information from a french site: http://www.refabert-luc-75.medecin.fr/tabac\\_tabacsansfumee.htm
Here you go.
Don’t worry guys. You wouldn’t like it any ways. The flavour is nearly rancid. The only good thing is it has the strongest nicotine hit I have experienced with any form of tobacco including snus. The hit is fast and hard. Must be the lime?
doesn’t france have a high algerian population? At least for europe.
No, I bought it at a small Tabac shop in Besancon about 3 hours East by train of Paris. Parle vous francaise?
Sachets of Tunisian Neffa Souffi:

As can be seen on the manufacturer’s site (see page 2), even after the increase of price this naffa is still ridiculously cheap - 300 milims equals to € 0.1 (per 10 g sachet).
Fun fact: Tunisian National Board of Tobacco and Matches (i. e. state tobacco and matches monopoly) still manufactures playing cards (such practice of the bygone era is still alive there; if I get it right, it’s the single entity which has the right to manufacture cards; matches they do produce as well, but I’m not sure if they still hold a match monopoly).
So, tabac Souffi is a North African (Algerian, to be more precise; etymology) variety of N. rustica.

@volunge That’s really nice, thank you very much for the link! I’ll show it next month to the buraliste in hopes that they can order a carton. Looking forward to that! I can still send some Bledi (I have a couple), I looked into the legality of it and it’s a gray area if sporadic and only a few tins. There’s definitely some strict laws in place, but it should be fine.
Thank you for your kind offer (and for reaching out to me privately), but for some reason I’ll have to skip it.
Instead, I would like to ask you for a favour - could you please contact Matthew, the host of Snus at Home YouTube channel and creator of snusathome.com website, and mail him a tin of Neffa Bledi and a tin of Neffa Ifrikia for reviewing? That’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years, but I did not manage to put my hands on Neffa Bledi ever again and it’s very unlikely that I would source any in the nearest future.
This, to be honest, was the main reason I was trying to get hold of Pöschl’s Neffa for - just to send a tin to Matt (@CobbGoots) and a couple of other snuff reviewers (Paul (@Uncle_Squinty) and Simon (@SimplySnuff) for reviewing this rarest item of curiosity - plain Pöschl snuff, and made from rustica, to that. Now when it comes to me, I have tried it and loved it, and that’s it. Job done, I’m a happy man. If I had a carton of Neffa Bledi, I would share the rest with folks who are interested in trying it.
The reliable way of mailing a couple small tins of snuff is sending it as international letter in a small bubbled envelope between two postcards, and sticking post stamps for the weight category up to 100 g, according to postal service price list which you can find online. Drop it in a international letter collection box on a street. Don’t list/don’t declare the contents. Don’t register the letter. Skip the tracking, “signed for”, insuring and any other possible extras. Just send a letter with receiver’s and sender’s addresses and post stamps or printed labels of total weight-matching value for the international letter to the particular country. In France, such international letter falls under “international letter with small items” category (if my memory doesn’t fail).
You got it! Thank you for the sending tips, greatly appreciated. There’s a few friends of mine that smoke and to whom I’d like to send snuffs to. I completely understand wanting to try a product without needing to have said snuff continuously. I’ll let you know if I can manage to get a hold of Souffi if you haven’t tried that one yet might be a fun discovery. I’ve also just found out that it’s still possible to order Rosinski artisan snuffs, that’ll be another german treat I’m sure. I’m really thankful there’s still so many great products to enjoy and I hope they live on.
Ps. I’ve sent a mail to the email mentioned in contact page of the website you posted.
