Neffa Ifrika is the snuff made by the company that makes Makla Ifrika. While their makla has only the crazy amount of nicotine in it and nothing else, their snuff is pretty interesting. I opened it tonight and initially, it was several clumps of tobacco. I used my snuff spoon to break it up. When I pinched it, it has an earthy smell. It almost reminds me of NTSU, but more dirt and less farmyard. It doesn’t have the nicotine like NTSU, but there definitely is more nicotine than your average snuff. As a snuff newbie, I still want to try more snuffs so I probably wouldn’t order this again. That said, I am glad I bought it and it will definitely get used. If you’re curiosity is piqued, go for it. It’s not a bad snuff and the lift from the nicotine is pretty sweet, but it probably will not be anyone’s favorite.
I tried to get some of this snuff for the longest time. I found it to be quite disappointing though, too barnyard with no real points of interest.
Well after making the above statement I went back to my tin and gave it another go, but first I had to do something about that crumbled cake consistency, so I gave it a small amount of a go with the pestle, then a pass through a rough screen. I tossed a couple of rough chunks out and had a nice grind to a try. First this is earthy, no longer strikes me as barnyard although borderline. The tobacco flavor is very good, nicotine is good too, although not unreasonable. Maybe this one just needed to be aired out or aged. I get the distinct unwashed foot smell of the jewel in there too. Hmm! This is a very fine grind, I was careful not to reduce it more than it originally was, and quite dry (and pale). I have two tins (plastic actually), and I suffused one with distilled water. That was the ticket and this one starts to get quite flavorful and far easier on the nose. The plastic tin of this one was sealed with tape when I first got it, and while moist it was a bit off putting. Without the tape it dried right out since it is a lousy seal, probably accounts for the difference. I have been snuffing it all afternoon and becoming smitten with it. Very interesting plain tobacco taste, very little burn, a slightly sour smell that becomes beguiling quite qiuckly. I had wanted to enjoy this one, based on Ermtony’s review, but my initial exposure was such a let down that I put it aside. Now that it has been brought back to the proper grind, aired out, and hydrated, it is a treat! There may be more nic in there than I wanted also. Give it a try, it’s pretty inexpensive.
I ordered a handful of those tins since this snuff got voted No. 1 winner of 2014 on snuffstore.de. Personally I wouldn´t go this far, but I can see why it was voted anyway. Although it is not my favorite, I like it very much. I always wondered why Sifaco would only produce one single kind of snuff. Now I discovered that they invented yet another type - Neffa Green. I haven´t tried it yet but I certainly will. Description says that it is flavoured with a slight note of peppermint. Natural tobacco and N-punch remain untouched. Sounds nice to me.
I use this occasionally it had become better with age. I also sived it , now it is extra fine and delivers the vitamin N. I do employ the Platinum in the upper deck, And need more.
I thought this stuff was more for the lip. My tin I know has dried up to a rock in the tin. I may try opening the tin and grind it a bit. I’ll see, but I think the can has rust inside as it is over a few years old. When it was new I found it somewhat not desirable.
@nicmizer I thought I read a thread on here that said these were really snus too. I tried to find it but could not. Maybe I just dreamed it?

You are correct as I purchased it with that in mind. Not really a dip that was desirable to me after Trying in the mouth or nose! The corrosive note in the metal tin was also a major deterrent.
