Nasal sensitivity in the mornings

Hi Anyone else find their schnozz’s a tad sensitive in the morning, where it’s best to start with a few “easy” snuffs before getting on to the more exciting and often harder snuffs? I find this is happening to me every day now. I’m learning to read my body. Best to start off with nothing “too aggressive” and leave the suicidal snuffs till late in the evenings when the nose seems “hardened”.

I agree especially if I have over snuffed the night before (usually happens in conjunction with alcohol )

I start the morning when my feet hit the ground with a couple of big bumps of Navy Plain Scotch. In fact, I get up in the middle of the night for some snuff. Can you say “addicted”?

I think it’s a case of conditioning. I normally take a few pinches of O&G during the night and also when I wake up in the morning. But I can sniff any kind of snuff straight away too. @Nachman, if it’s addiction, so be it. While I still smoked, I sometimes lit up during the night which is a dangerous habit. Falling asleep with a burning ciggie in the hand can cause a lot of damage to ones bedding!!! I do find some snuff smudges on my bedding sometimes but that’s not a problem, not for me. So, whether I’m addicted or not, I’m living saver now.

I really think people make too much of addiction. I think they forget you have to look at the whole picture in and out to figure out how terrible or not something truely is. If you have crippling physical pain that will never go away and opiates let you get on with your life who cares if your hooked. My point you should weigh all factors before labeling something bad (since the subject came up and we’ve been talking about things like this in school I guess I had to share my opinion). Though the funny thing is that according to some sources snuff isn’t addictive (Seriously look up the definitionss of addiction one of the popular one requires negative effects)

I use a nice pinch of hedges in the morning…clears me up and is not hard on the nose. It seems if I start with a scotch it has a tendancy to burn alot more in the am.

depends on how tired I’am if I’am really tired the more burn the better. Fine snuffs often can get me enough get up and go to get to the french press and start the caffine infusions.

L260, every morning first thing. Its a new tradition.

I agree that its conditioning. I can take any brand to begin with, its later on in the day that the congestion can set in. Thats also a point worth remembering; even the most hardened snuffer can over do it. How long have you used snuff for Oscar?

Around 5 months @Snuffster. Still a beginner really but my nose is acclimatizing and my technique is also improving. The morning nasal soreness has lessened since starting this thread lol

For what it’s worth, I do start out with less aggressive snuff in the morning and progress to the harder stuff during the day. Maybe it’s getting the sinuses flowing that makes the difference for me. My nose is pretty dry in the morning. I’ve been pinching more than using a spoon in the morning too, which seems to soften the hit some.

@oscar - Apart from the new snuffers first pinches, snuffing should not be a sore business. I think most people go at it a bit too much when you consider you’ve just started putting a completeley new substance on virgin mucosa. Easing back might help; better getting there slowly than having a lot of discomfort. My personal advice to newbies is take decent size pinches (a paradox, smaller ones irritate more) of about the size of a pea for both nostrils but at no more than twice an hour or even hourly. Snuffs that cause the most discharge and congestion tend to be menthols and highly flavoured snuffs. You might find plainer snuffs like Toque natural eliminate some of that if it’s a problem - the more discharge, the more blowing and this can make things very sore and even cause rebound dryness.

Thanks for the advice @Snuffster. Read loads of your posts at snuffreviews. Very helpful indeed. Cheers!

Glad to be of service Oscar.
