Nasal saline solution..anyone else use it?

I clean my nostrils easily 3 times a day ( the ritual is rinse twice with solution with head back and blow to and let solution out, next I wet a QTIP with that solution and clean around inside walls and whatever creavaes are in my nose… Works well … Any other solutions… I heard of neti pot … But don’t think I need that for now

I put my nose under the faucet with warm running water to rinse it out, then blow. Works for me.

I think most in this forum do use the neti pot because you are basically doing the same this with the exception that the solution flows in one side and come out the other clearing the passages completely. @EricJ I have well water and there has been cases where death occurred by a virus being started by using regular water to clear nasal passages. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763\_162-57499285-10391704/tap-water-in-neti-pots-behind-two-brain-eating-amoeba-deaths-in-2011-investigation-finds/

@MattheFox…that virus is brutal…omg…thanks for posting that article ACTUALLY after starting this thread I found a older thread titled DRY SORE NOSE Much info there…I originally started using solution after watching uncle squinty’s video on the subject on youtube

I’ve heard of neti pots around the net for a while, but never bothered to even see what it was until I clicked that link. I actually thought it sounded like some kind of plant. lol

I use a neti pot also . It’s a good thing to do whether you snuff or not … especially during high pollen spring time .

Steam in the shower works best for me, and toasts clean out well, just had a visit to ENT Dr. and all looks good in the nose, deviated septum and all. Throat is another story…

Neti pots are great. I use mine maybe once or twice a week. I use Ocean (or off-brand equivalent) saline spray once or twice a day. I also use Ayr Saline gel before bed everynight, well at least when I remember. It really helps to prevent the stopped up or crusty nose upon waking in the morning. Its awesome stuff that I wish I had discovered when I first started snuffing. Another tip, take a sniff of Dragun or Firedrac before a hot shower or using the neti. That will clean you right out in a hurry.

I just use a neti pot once before bed. You’re supposed to use distilled water so wether you use city tap or well, distilled is indicated. My nose does the rest as well as some good blows into a hanky.

I was using a neti pot. But not wanting to deal with distilled water made me move away from it. My typical routine is nightly water and finger just work to remove any build up and clean the nose, then blow. On occasion I use a generic saline spray to rinse and blow, as needed. Ken

Deal with distilled water? You go to the store and buy a gallon for 50 cents. Your pour it in the netipot. Heat and serve.

Wish it was so cheap in the UK! Here it is about £8 for 5 litres :-S Neti pot works great for me, even though have to use with sterilised or distilled water.

Yeah see the thing is I got this weird principle about buying water. As in from the store. I can’t explain it nor defend its logic, because my patterns in this regard are not logical. Just call it a quirk or a character flaw if you will… Ken

I use a neti-pot mid-day and before bed, that and several good “blows” in a paper towel gets me clear and ready to start snuffing. Occassionally I’ll also use several Q Tips together to clean out the “mess”

I don’t bother with distilled water. My city water is sterilized and then it runs through a house filter to remove chlorine and particulate etc. However, I haven’t used the Neti pot in a while mainly because I am lazy. I do like @perique and swab out with moistend q-tips. Its quicker since I go directly to the place the snuff collects. Actually use just one q-tip (one end for each nostril) and keep flushing the q-tip clean in the tap until the nose is clean.

@xander that seems kind of weird, q-tips hanging out the nose like plumbers snakes. Lol

eh? They don’t hang really. Just swab and gently wipe, like you probably do to your ears after a shower. Some will twist up a tissue paper and do something similar. Although I should add, there are some advanced neti techniques that do resemble plumbing snakes, passing a tube all the way in and out the other nostril or out the mouth. That would be a bit much for me

I swear by a neti pot (I’m a machinist so there’s lots of non-snuff gunk to remove) but boiling tap water for it is a ritual to avoid the brain eating amoeba (Naegleria fowleri). There have been 7 cases at a local water park so I’m not taking any chances even with proper city water treatment.

I use a rubber ear syringe with saline once before bed, and yes I use boiled filtered water

I use dissolved tea spoon of salt in warm water for night super clean. In day, I just suck water up me nose over the sink and blast all the crap out. I don’t worry about microbes. My water supply comes directly from the ground, which is fed by rain and snow.
