Napoleon (2023) by Ridley Scott
Has anyone seen the film? Is Napoleon shown taking snuff during the 2 and half hours?
I hope it’s an authentic portrayal.

Haven’t seen it. The trailer looks sterile and flat, or maybe I’m older and these events don’t hold the same energy for me.

It’s come under criticism for having inaccuracies, but it’s there as entertainment, not as a historical treatise. I’ll probably go see it.
Whatever, Napoleon appears to have been a solid consumer of snuff, as many folks at that time were. McChrystals mentions that he got through over seven pounds of it a month.

Although it is claimed that Bonaparte partook of seven pounds of snuff a month (four pounds lasts me, a heavy consumer, twelve months) he didn’t actually inhale it. Louis Antoine Fauvelet de Bourrienne, secretary to the Great Man has passed us this account in the collection of anecdotes published in 1846.
