Ok, I have come to a point in my life where i broke my pack a day habit since i was 14-15ish when I turned 23. Im 24, 25 in 3 weeks, and no longer need a smoke or rely on them. HOWEVER, ive found now that when im with my friends or drinking a few brews I always smoke 2 or 3. Or when im at work I smoke 1 or 2 just because its so stressful. What happens??? I wake up the next morning coughing my head off for the most part of the first few waking hours. So i will now TRY to only use snuff when i feel the urge for a nic hit and then use as much as I have to when iwant a cig. Are any of you x-smokers that ONLY use snuff now as your means of vitamin “n” and if so how did you cope?? Not that smoking is bad if you enjoy a cig every now and then but id rather not want one entirely.
I kicked the sticks using snuff and those Stonewall tablets things. When the mood strikes, I’ll occasionally smoke a pipe, but snuff alone gets it done. Bring the snuff along with you when you go drinking, and have a pinch when the need strikes, and keep on doing it until you’ve forgotten all about those sticks. It’ll work.
I quit smoking on the 14th of February 2007 and I have not touched a cigarette since then. I use LOTS of snuff every day and I have no craving for cigs. I was at a meeting today with about 100 other people. It’s raining and when the smoke break was announced, all the smokers had to go outside, in the rain, for their fix. I went to the dressing rooms and pinched some Toque Toffee. That is why: I LOVE SNUFF
I still smoke, but have cut down DRASTICALLY using snuff - Guanxi88 is right - bring your snuff with you everywhere, and when you need a cig, have a pinch instead. It works. And it’s a conversation starter, too - you might end up converting someone to snuff, like I did!
I haven’t smoked in 2 months since starting snuff. I’d just take snuff anytime I wanted a smoke.
Snuff, don’t leave home without it!
I still have the odd one and always will. My stopping success was based entirely on two things, just substituting snuff for cigarettes and also not making any committment or big deal about having a cig if I want one. Rather than going down that guilt trip thing I just said to myself if I want a cig I’ll have one. For some reason I’ve never worked out, that approach worked completely. I can go literally weeks without a cigarette, scrounge one off someone at work or whatever, and then go several more weeks without one again. The weird thing is that I can enjoy the occasional one but if that turns into several then I start to hate it just like I was when I was up to two packs a day and getting sick of it. And, yes, don’t leave home without it - Ive got it my desk drawer at work, in the car, even some at a friends house.
See, thats my point^^^^^ I no longer feel the need to have to have a cigarette, but occasionally will have 1 or 2 with friends. Its not a guilt trip for me when i smoke, more of I know ill be coughing my head off the next day and feel like crap. Oh, well. I will say I use snuff more than anything and also dip once or twice at ngiht while playing video games.
Well then I think you’ve cracked it and are in a pretty good place. Guilts useless thing, I used to completely beat myself up when I fell off the wagon, now Ive sort of liberated myself from it. I like a nice dip as well.
I have gone cold turkey on my Pipes and my Cigars since I have been snuffing. I am fortunate enough to have not been involved with cigarettes.
The less you worry about something the less it affects you. Always carry some snuff with you so you have a choice. If you have the occassional 1 or 2 cigarettes & .it will not lure you back to a relapse, go ahead and enjoy. Of coruse if you want to remain cigarette free, reach for the snuff instead. I am almost 3yrs cigarette free. I have one once in a while. I prefer un-filtered such as Camel or Lucky Strike. More often than not, I take the snuff instead. It all depends on your reason for quiting. Either way, enjoy. You won’t go to hell for smoking, I hope !
